    EDIT: Brain fart. I don't think this belongs in General Game Chat, since it's about the format war, and not video games. A mod please move this when you can. -_-;

    I was just thinking about how this would affect PS3 sales when I posted it.

    Yeah, I've been seeing this everywhere. Even read about it in some mini newspaper yesterday, lol.

    Sucks for those who bought the HD-DVD player.

    This is exellent. Now there is nothing that can stop the PS3. People will buy the PS3 so that they won't have to buy a Blu-Ray Player as well. Stock up on your HD DVDs now because they'll be very valuable in the future.

    About time the format war ended. Sucks for people with HD-DVDs though.

    Oh dangit. We just bought an HD TV and weren't planning on shelling out for a Blu-Ray player since that's the only format they play, meaning all of our other DVDs ( all 200 or so of 'em) are useless. That almost seems unfair.

    I think you're mistaken. There are many Blu-ray players out there that can play regular DVDs, they simply upscale them.

    This was why when the PS3 first came out, it wasn't getting a lot of attention from Blu-ray enthusiasts because it didn't support DVD upscaling (on neither games nor DVDs) at the time, which was what a lot of Blu-ray players on the market could do.

    I'm glad this Bluray vs HD is finally coming to a close. Of course, in 2010 the new Teradisc may be out so that will be interesting to see how that affects things. I do prefer the Bluray so kind of glad to see it had won though it does suck for those people who bought HD. It now at least makes up our minds what we need to buy now instead of all the difficulties and certain places having one thing and others having another and no options for both. Cool deal.
