Well, I didn't put these in any real order (okay, the first five are my top 5, but the rest is just spread out) because it's just hard to pick an absolute favorite. I would like to note that this is based off movies that I saw in 2012...

    Les Miserables
    Dark Knight Rises
    Chronicle
    Life of Pi
    Pitch Perfect
    The Avengers
    Argo
    Silver Lining's Playbook
    21 Jump Street
    Lincoln

I'm genuinely surprised how often I'm seeing Life of Pi on these lists

I can't remember all the films I've seen this year but Dark Knight rises, Rise of the Guardians, Adventure with pirates!, The Hobbit: An unexpected journey, The Avengers, Nativity 2 and probably Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum when I was in India... I mean seriously:

Okay... so I had no idea what was going on for 2 hours while I watched it but it was hilarious

Meh, better than the other films I've seen, Life of Pi at least had emotion and effects, other than that it wasn't my favorite, I was disappointed with it, I thought it could have been so much more, plus the beginning had some of the worst acting I've ever seen.
Oh and if no one's seen Django, shame shame shame on you, another Quentin Tarantino classic.

I should probably put my own list

Haven't seen Django Unchained, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln, Paranorman, and quite a few other movies I wanted to in 2012, but here's my list of what I did see

    8. Ted
    7. Indie Game: The Movie
    6. Rise of the Guardians
    5. The Dark Knight Rises
    4. Moonrise Kingdom
    3. Chronicle
    2. Wreck-It Ralph
    1. The Avengers

I'll add more as I see more.

Pretty much what I've heard: great with the spectacle, terrible with everything else, just like the book...of course, except you can see stuff.

EDIT: Completely forgot Rise of the Guardians

You should make Skyfall first. That movie was badass.

The Avengers was just an average movie.

I saw Dredd and Holy Motors and thats about it I have to think about it

Oh wait I saw Prometheus and that was crap
and I saw Brave it was ok but disappointing

Out of those that I've seen, of course:

    1. Oslo, August 31st [available on Netflix]
    2. Cloud Atlas (my thoughts)
    3. The Kid with a Bike [available on Netflix]
    4. The Master
    5. Prometheus
    6. The Impossible
    7. Flight
    8. Skyfall
    9. Last Ride [available on Netflix]
    10. Keep the Lights On

Here are some films that I felt weren't "best of the year" but enjoyed all the same:
The Grey, Looper, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Safety Not Guaranteed, Seven Psychopaths, and Silver Lining's Playbook. Silver's both an exceptional film and accessible to a wide audience, I found this to be the 2012 film I most recommended to friends and family.

Just to note, my I enjoyed my second viewings of Fligt and The Master much more than my first.
