No Thanks Too many Organization XIII topics and character reference laziness in the RP section

I went around in the general Role Playing section annd.....I'm not exactly pleased with all the topics. Almost everything is the same thing: involving the Organization XIII. I know this sorta sounds stupid, but can we possibly limit the number of Org. XIII rp topics? There needs to be more original material around.

Another thing is the character reference thing. Can we perhaps stop with all the art theft when it comes to references? It's not uncommon to see artwork ripped from Japanese language art sites and H games. We need people who will at least draw reference pictures for characters without an accurate image for them

Yes, there are too many topics on the Organization, but it's only natural. They are extremely popular characters (they're my favourite villains), so it's to be expected that there would be a lot of RPs about them. I don't think it's right to put a limit on them; it's not like they're harming anyone and you shouldn't try and control people's creativity.

You're totally right about the character ref. laziness. People should be obliged to create new character designs, not steal them from others.

 

I don't think that's possible. I think that Org.XIII topics are creative in they're own way. But I really think this suggestion will not please some rp'ers I mean. What if someone has a brilliant idea for an rpg and they can't post it here because there's a limit.

Maybe there could be a separate category for Org RPs, to avoid putting limits on them? It's probably not really necessary, though.

It may seem there are too many...but then couldn't the same be said about Kingdom Hearts rpg's?

Guess what =D, this is a KH site, of course we'll have a lot of KH related RP's, the same could be said for the lack of mario RP's, since this aint a Mario/Nintendo site.

I am not sayin' that we should limit RPs altogether, I'm just sayin' that people need to put forth more effort and produce something more original than just a simple Org. XIII topic Hell, we might as well call the entire section 'Organization XII Roleplay Forum' The organization is as good as dead. There WAY many other things to do other than some Org XIII. The universe of KH does not revolve around them. To tell you the truth, I haven't seen one Disney-oriented RP or at least SOMETHING that doesn't involve Nobodies

 

I'm sorry to say this, but just no. Are you trying to tell people they have to think of more 'original' names than putting Organization XIII into their Roleplaying game titles? That is -their- right to choose what they title a game and if you don't like it, you just don't join the game.

Now, if they were all named 'Organization XIII' and had no identifiers afterwards, sure I would ask the role-player GMs/creators to put in a bit more so that we could tell which RP was which, but why take away the members' rights to name an RPG based on Org 13 whatever they want as long as it's within the rules? Should we also tell them to change RPGs with 'Sora' in them? Or why not the word 'Heart'?

If you don't want to see Kingdom Hearts Rpgs, move along to the other divisions in the RPG section because no one in their right mind is going to force people to change their RPG titles because someone finds them 'repetitive'. This is a KH site. Since other divisions exist, the KH RPGs in the main section should stay as they are. Let it be.

You clearly misunderstood. I never said limit RPs about KH, I said limit RPs about Organization XIII. I just find it rather hard to find any decent RP to get into these days. There is more to the KH universe than some villainous organization. I never said anything ABOUT the title, I was referring to the RP itself overall. Otherwise everything just becomes rather mindless and dull

And I really cannot stand the fact that some character profiles contain stolen pics. That's something else we need to focus on

 

Look and evaluate before you judge, my dearie. Hun, a title is only a title, and what's behind the title is what that matters most. Like Marluxia13579 said, Organization XIII are EXTREMELY popular when it comes to KH in general, and everyone seems to love the diversity of their characters, so it really is natural that people seem to drift to their side. Also, just because a RP was created with the name and title involving the Organization, it's not always necessarily about JUST them, you know. Nevertheless and ultimately, every characters are involved in it, along with OCs, and soon the story no longer remains “just about the Organization,†as it becomes a good solid story for everyone. It'd be just the same if it was titled with “Sora†or something, would it not? With a “Sora†title, people would still bring in the Organization into it because they are a part of the game. In either case, all the characters are involved in an RP once it starts, and the title only remains as it's banner to attract people, and nothing more.

About the “original material,†this IS a KH site dearie, one would expect to have only KH RPs in them in the first place, yet there are in fact other and more original RPs if you only look around—if that's what you're looking for. And finally, about the image reference, I'm not saying that what is being done is right, however, people are only using an image for a small reference, and nothing more, and most of the time, they are familiar characters from an Animé of sorts, so it cannot be called theft either. Also love, no one really has the time to draw and sketch something up fast and easy once they decide to join an RP to use it immediately. It could take days for one to join, if he begins to create and image for their character, and not to mention, not everyone has a talent in art, and because of that, there will be plenty of people who'll back down, and merely for a small reason such as that.

It would still be better just to at least describe their character's appearance rather than just steal a picture that doesn't belong to them. Not only does it devalue the picture's quality but also the artist's hard work. Eventually you have over 50 characters who look exactly alike because they use that same picture over and over again

If you can't find an RP you want to join then you can always make your own instead. Org13 RPs are extremely popular, people love to RP with the members in a variety of different situations, I see no harm in them doing this, no one is forcing you to take part.

I do agree with you on the ripping of images for the use of OCs :\ I do not like that so much. People should create their own, an Original Character is meant to be from mind, not from other people's art. There is no point in ripping a picture :\ I prefer words to describe, at least it is fully original.


Anywayz, no, there will not be a limit to the number of RPs that are to do with Org13. As others have mentioned; this is a KH site afterall.

The RP section is a big section, I'm sure you can create something to your satisfaction if you are unhappy with the RPs that you see.​

 

No, I totally understood and just feel strongly against this suggestion. There are decent RPGs out there and crappy ones, regardless of the Title of the Rpg. The Organization is a major part of the KH universe and people also have their takes on what the Organization was really like. Also, roleplays on the Organization being numerous means players can get a chance to play some of their favorite Org members and not have to compete with others elsewhere to get the chance because the characters are sucked up as soon as the RP begins.

Each RPG, despite being called whatever, such as the Org 13 rpgs, is handled differently by the creator and also the players. They are different rpgs. That is why no one in staff would dream of taking that right of creativity away from the players. There's no point.

Also, some people take pics from sites or deviant art etc to show what their characters look like because they can't draw above that of a stick figure and would like to save time on description. As long as the person is not claiming the artwork as his/her own, what's so wrong with it unless the artist declares posting it elsewhere and not giving credit is a no-no? I'm sorry and respect suggestions that come up here but if it is something that is designed to take people's rights away for no good reason, I certainly will have to shoot it down. Your personal opinion is noted but there will be a lot of other people who would counter this if they thought about it, and already do. It may be frustrating to you, but I think you are just going to have to suck it up. It's like asking people to not post sigs of Sora or Riku etc. There are other RPGs out there in that section and even RPGs that have nothing to do with KH. Check them out and maybe you'll find something you enjoy, k?

 

Creatin' an RP myself would rather be pointless as it would not even include KH and my RPs often get blown in the dust anyways and I find it hard to make any at all.

 

I'm probably failing, and not fully understanding but why can't you make your own RP? I've never been in an RP before so I dont know the schematics so much, but you can set up your own rules and stuff right?

In your RP you can just put "describe pictures dont take a pic of them from somewhere."

You could make your RPG in one of the other sections in the RPG area. People have all sorts of RPGs hosted in there. It is not just a KH rpg area. Also, we tend to join quite a few RPGs at a time. Don't discredit people assuming all they RP is KH stuff. Browse around the area and acclimate yourself there and check out the various stuff. There's an array of ideas going on in there. You could easily make an RPG and people would join it if it is intriguing to them. If you don't try, you don't know.

 

Sorreh, but I don't exactly find anything that much interesting around here and I've only just gotten back into RPing to begin with. I don't do RPGs based on media anymore. I only do completely original stuff and there lies the problem.

 

Hmm. I merely said that even with the Organization titles and plots the stories are still at a wide range of events. The title only has the effect of surrounding the basic or outlining plot for an RP, but in the end it never really is about JUST the organization, but about everyone and everything. I've often seen OCs taking over an RP which was supposed to be about the all favorite and notorious Organization and take to where it had nothing to do with them or KH. The stories move at a fast pace, and soon, it doesn't even follow the original plot. That's about 50% of all RPs.

Quite so, and I won't disagree with this. You may have a point here. Though describing your own character is something what an OC is about, but you can't really turn the users laziness to predictiveness. Most of them are just too lazy to even type these things and rather pull out a photo to save their butts from typing, which is just unfortunate and ironic at the same time.
