Tomb raider: The Next Gen

Misaki forced herself to sit up for a little bit. She took the apple juice with her good arm and forced herself to drink, even though she didn't feel thristy. She set the bottle back on the nightstand. "I feel like I want to fall asleep..." she said quietly. She winced when she laid on her shoulder wrong. Maybe the pain will keep her awake.

 

"The sugar in the juice will help you with the blood loss." Josh got up, feeling her forehead. "After about an hour or so, providing you don't move too vigorously, you should be fine."

 

Misaki's eyes looked up at Josh. A small weak smile formed on her face. "Thank you, Josh..." She took in little shakey breaths so she wouldn't make the pain worse. She hated this... Hated being the one hurt and making others worried.

 

Josh nodded. "Did you have any training in fighting on Avalon?" he asked, pulling a chair over next to the bed and sitting on it.

 

Josh was trying to keep her awake, she knew it. Misaki nodded her head a little. "Just enough to defend myself..." She looked at Josh, remember the fight she saw earlier. "Are you alright?" Her own pain was forgotten for a while.

 

Josh nodded, stretching. "I'm fine. A little bruised, but the thing, whatever it was, is in worse shape. What about magic?" he asked.

 

"Magic is my strong hold..." she said quietly. "I just haven't used it lately... Didn't seem the need to... I guess now I do." She winced again, turning her head to the side. She wished to have healing abilities, but she didn't.

 

Josh nodded. "I think I heard of you. One of the best magic holders of our age." He took off his bracelet and gently pressed it against her shoulder,making it glow blue. The pain would fade now. "It takes a lot out of the rest of us." He commented, smiling a little. He slipped the bracelet back on.

 

Dev grinned. "I won't fall off." she assured him, pointing to a cabinet next to the door. "Keys are in there. The silver one, to the right." She slowly made her way to the door, holding onto her bag.

 

Dev looked up at him, smiling a little. "If you want." She unslung her bag, holding it out to him. "Careful." she murmured. She slipped a note into the cabinent, then coughed, holding her chest.

 

"Best... magic holder?" She was confused. She never considered herself as that before. Misaki looked at Josh with a curious expression. She rubbed her shoulder gently. "Thank you..."

 

Josh nodded, then got up, going to the window. "You'll probably be okay, now." he said, looking at the stars. "You can sleep if you want."

 

Misaki nodded her head slowly. "Alright..." She bit her lower lip. "Josh... do you think... they're going to come for us again, tonight?" An evident fear showed in her eyes. Tonight was close enough.

 

Josh hesitated, then nodded. "It's possible. Whoever came after us knows what we are, and took precautions. I'll stay in here, if you don't mind. Safer for us to be together."

 

Misaki sighed out quietly. "I don't mind..." She was starting to feel her eyelids getting heavy. "Wake me up if you get tired..." she said sleepily. "I should be in good condition again by then..."

 

Josh nodded, hiding a smile. "Night." he said, staring out the window.

 

"Night..." Misaki slowly closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.

BIC: Josh watched the stars, trying to read the future. It was so osbscured, so many secrets. He had never understood the need to try, but they had made him. It was an odd feeling, knowing no laws held you down.
