To anyone on the East Coast

We're going to make it through this just fine. We may not be built for hurricanes, but we're stubborn as hell.
Stay calm, keep your wits about you, use common sense, and don't panic too bad. This applies even if you're not too well prepared. Should power go out and you don't think you have enough nonperishable food, don't open the doors unless you really have to. If you don't think you're prepared enough, it's not too late to move to a shelter if there's one nearby.
I know I've talked to a few of you and we're all kinda freaked out. I won't lie, I'm pretty scared myself, but remember - so long as you're safe, material possessions can be replaced in the end.

And to anyone that's not on the East, don't panic and assume the worst if some of us aren't online. If power goes out during this (which it probably will) the prediction is that it will be down for days.

Like I said, no matter what this storm brings use common sense and we'll all be fine.

 

well, I might live in Colorado now, but I've lived in Wisconsin, Kentucky, Nevada, South Carolina, and Texas as well, so I'll just say good luck to you guys. I know you'll be fine. And I'm praying for you, just to add some insurance...sorry, probably not the best time to make a joke about that

Earthquake, tornado, hurricane. One week. West coast kids can't even see me now!

 

I am in North Carolina, but I am in the mid-parts of it, so I probably won't be too affected, maybe harsh winds and a little rain.
I really hope that no one is injured, and gets through the day okay. <3

I'm in Western New York, so I may only get harsh winds/rains, but I seriously hope you guys will be okay in the more Eastern/Mid parts of the East Coast. :c

It's scary (I'm scared for you guys), but I know that us Easterners don't let a silly wind storm knock down our days. Please stay safe and like Wolfie said, use common sense. And just know KHV will be waiting here with cookies when you return.

I suggest turning all things off an hour or more before the hurricane comes to prevent damage to electrical things from the power outages the hurricane will most likely cause.

 

Electricity's not what I'm worried about to be honest, I'm more concerned about gas lines. Electronics can be replaced, but a gas leak can be a very serious issue.
I'd definitely recommend considering shutting your gas if the storm looks like it will hit you bad.

 

Yes, shut all gas things down, too!

 

I think we have oil in my house... I should check that out xD
