Tidus: Tai-dus or Tee-dus?

I was totally debating this when I heard Wakka say Tee-dus in KH1. I thought it was pronounced Ti-Dus and I swear Lulu says it like that in Final Fantasy X somewhere... Tai-Dus does sound better though.

 

I've always called him by Tai-dus, but I guess people have there own ways of saying his name :P

 

Dissida actually has it said by his name, as it sounds probably most likely which is tee-dus as the company decided to call it that.

 

I used to think it was "Tee-dus", but when I started talking to my friend about it, she laughed when I said it and I was confused.

Me: What's so funny?
Her: You say it weird,
Me: What? Isn't that how you say it?
Her: No! It's pronounced "Tai-dus"
Me: Are you serious? I've been saying it wrong this whole time?!

 

I prefer Tai-Dus and thats the way i always thought it was pronounced

 

Ive always said Tee-dus, but now that you mention it im confused on how to say his name...grr

 

I personally prefer Tee-dus and i've always pronounced it that way. Tai-dus just doesn't sound right to me.

 

I can't say I see the logic in saying Teedus.

I personally say Tie-dus, but it's confirmed to be that nasty 'Tee-dus'

 

But it is weird, in KH1 Someone says his name as 'Tee-Dus' then Selphie says his name as Tide-us in KH2.

 

It's not been confirmed to be Tee-dus though.
Dissidia calls him Tee-dus sure, but other things have called him Tai-dus.

Another thing is Kitase has confirmed it was Tai-dus on other occasions.
I don't think it matters overall though.
Just whatever you prefer.

"Tee-dus" sounds a bit nasally to me, and I always thought "Tai-dus" flowed better.

I pronounce it Tee-dus it sounds cuter than Tai-dus to me personally lol. As for the Dissidia situation I was happy when they pronounced it Tee-dus...but then I was weirded out when they pronounced Zidane, Zi-dahn.

Final Fantasy characters have strange names I miss the days where you could name them yourself. I'd give them a simple name like Bob or AAAA

I used to call him Tai-dus, but then my cousin called him Tee-dus so I just went like that. I never realised there was a Tai-dus Tee-dus revolution. 8D

 

If, considering the game is from japan, you go by Japanese orthography it should be Tee-doos (i makes the ee sound and u makes the oo sound).

However, I think Tai-dus sounds better so I use that ... Teedus just sounds ... bleh to me.

...but I wanna say "Tie-dus" because in English it sounds better. But yeah, in Japanese the "i" is "ee" just like in Spanish. so, yeah.

 

Honestly, as he's named after the Tide, Tai-dus makes the most sense...and who would want to agree with Wakka??? That guy is as annoying as they come. "Man"
