I always thought it was Taidus, but then I was playing Dissidia, and they all pronounced it Teedus. Now I'm stuck, because I think it sounds better as Taidus, but I'm a total grammar/pronounciation Nazi, so... I'm kind of caught between a rock and a hard place over how to pronounce it.

I heard it said Tai-dus in Final Fantasy X and X-2, but in Dissidia they said it Tee-dus. But I think Tai-dus actually sounds better. ^^

    Teh-ee-da is the correct pronounciation.

They never say his name out loud in FFX because you're supposed to be able to change his name. Even in FFX-2, they never said his name. It was just "You know... him."

    Tai-Dus.

Tee-dus, sounds stupid to me. It really does, it sounds like an in-complete name.

    Tee-dus.

It's a Okinawan name meaning 'sun'. It really suits the sunny Tidus. (Of course, it's actually Tiida, without the su on the end, but that sounds too adorable. Like some nickname Selphie came up with or something.)

Maybe Tai-dus is just Selphie making fun of him being in a closed shirt for his school uniform. :) Rub it in, girl.

I think Tee-dus, it sounds better to me.

But you'll never know. His name isn't said in FFX so the real pronounciation stays a secret.

Even though Tai-dus has a much more pleasing sound to it, I'm afraid Tee-dus is the official way to say it. It is said that way in both KH 1 (by Wakka) and 2 (by Selphie), along with being said that way in FF: Dissidia. Pity, really.

Of note: Dissidia mispronounces Cecil's name.

    But given Umiyuri's information, I won't contest "Tee-dus."

Tiida? I read it as Teiida. Is there some rule about "i"s following a Te, due to the lack of a chi?

There's a general rule that if a loanword has a 'tii' sound, it's rendered as 'teii' because there's no character in Japanese for the sound (which is distinct from 'chi'). The Okinawan language, however, does have a 'tii' sound.

I always thought it was Tidus.
And you know what? I don't care what they want it to be. For me it is and will always be Tai-dus. =]

In Japanese, his name is Ti-da, so I always thought that his name was Tee-dus. Sounds better than Tai-dus anyway.

And yes, they do pronounce it as Ti-da.

I guess I'll still call him Tai-dus for now... Doesn't sound right personally, calling him Tee-dus, even if its pronounced like that in Dissida.. But that's just me...

I've always pronounced it the most obvious way: Tai-dus
However, I did know that it was Tee-dus, because of some collectors edition behind the scenes or something that I got. I just thought it sounded stupid so I never called him that.
