Glad I'm the one creating the thread.

Watched the movie, and it was amazing. A lot of action, something I like in movies. Humour, a little bit of romance- without any sex scenes, which was something satisfying since all movies nowadays focus on the money and sex.
Also had a scene from Avengers, you'll have to see for yourselves.
There wasn't lack of anything really, money well spent.

Are you telling me that there's no sex in Thor?

I'm gonna go see Thor and Captain America (but that one's for later) in preparation for the Avengers movie next year!!!

Marvel movies don't have sexual scenes... unless it's Iron Man... the Stark gets what the Stark wants... :P

As someone who lives in the US, where the movie isn't out yet: Why in the ****!! is Marvel waiting until May 6 to release it here? There's no reason to wait since the movie's already finished, not to mention that it just causes more people to pirate the damn movie. Might seem like a random comparison, but let's look at the BBC's treatment of the American airing of Doctor Who. Up until the current season, they'd wait about a year or so before finally airing new episodes. This resulted in mass downloading since geeks are not a patient group of people as we've been horribly spoiled by the internet.

The more you wait, the more you want to watch the movie, right? You can't pirate a good copy when the movie is newly released. Anyway; The fans will wait and get annoyed that they didn't get it first, but they will still watch it.
Myself, I haven't seen it, but I will. I didn't have too high expectations because in my opinion Thor as a superhero doesn't make sense because he's a freaking God, but I've heard good things so I guess I'll have to see it.

Lol Cloud's getting butthurt 'cause he wasn't the first to watch it. America indeed.

@Noroz: The way they connected those two things was smart, you'll see when you watch it.

Anyways, was really emotional when Thor died. >.<

Except that it really doesn't make any sense to release it later in one region than another as it will lead to more piracy, good quality available or not. This isn't the 90s, where the internet wasn't viable for nearly as much as it is today. This is an era where downloading a movie is a google search away.

Well, that's the point. It's like the trailer says, "the world has many heroes, but only one is a god."
After they made the Hulk, they wanted to make someone stronger. It was hard making someone stronger than the strongest person so they made him a god instead of a human.

Anyway, I've had the movie spoiled for me, including the Avenger scene, but I'm still planning on seeing it. Though I agree completely with cloud####, it was a bad idea on their part to hold off on releasing it here, which is why the movie was spoiled for me.

    This is true.

Also Marvel is F-ing AMERICAN!!! We OWN Thor and all his little friends! We NEED to have him in our movie theaters with their oversized portions of fat and coconut oil!

Are movies always released on Wednesday in the US ? They are in France, which if memory serves is the reason why Spiderman 2 (amongst many movies) was released in France before it was released in the US. I can' t say we' re as lucky regarding video games release date though, translation is a fickle b**** ...
That being said, I' m all for worldwide release dates, it would surely help dealing with the piracy issue.

New movies tend to be released on Fridays here, but a couple days isn't a big deal. My problem is when something is released weeks or months before in one region than it is in another.

I got back from seeing it a few hours ago, and I think it was pretty damn good. I'm gonna make a full review of it on later on, but I'm gonna put my initial thoughts here under spoiler tags

I really liked how the romantic element was integrated into it. It wasn't blatant or oversaturated, but it did show a growing development between the characters. And, I'll just admit it, Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman aren't too hard to look at either. They made the relationship believeable, and not just fall into the traps of your usual "Fish out of Water" movie.

Loki as the villain... eh, weakest point of the movie. I couldn't tell exactly what he was working for in the end be it his own desires or for his father, and the whole reason he's the villain is because he's jealous of Thor... Why? Every time Thor does wrong he is instantly reprimanded for it, and Loki's shown to be in the right. Hell, Thor gets banished before Loki would even have to go into his big plot with the Frost Giants. Sure, I have no problems with him being jealous of Thor, but we're told this rather than shown it, which does let it down a mite. That's only in his motvation though. Otherwise he was fairly solid. Only other problem with the film is that it cycles between precisely three places: Asgard, Jotunheim and New Mexico. Not that that's bad, but it just got a little stale by the end.

All of the acting was fantastic. Hemsworth manages to portray the headstrong and arrogant Thor, while still being so damn charismatic and endearing you can't help but be on his side. Portman does a great job as Jane Foster, as does Tom Hiddleston as Loki, although he started out kind of wobbly to me. I wasn't sure that Anthony Hopkins could really pull of being Odin of all gods, as he is more of a softer speaker, but when he needed to be forceful, hot damn did he pull it off.

Overall, a great movie, far better than the last big one I went to see (Tron Legacy), and really got me hyped for Avengers. Hawkeye's cameo was much appreciated, and the post-credits scene... wow.

Also, because I felt like it, I brouht a Green Lantern Ring on the way to the cinema. Just thought I'd say it. In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night...

I absolutely loved this film! Much better than Clash of the Titans!
I was sad when Loki died though, he was my favourite character (Darcy comes next) as he had a 'cool' feel to him (Get it?)

But I found that it started off a tad slow, but picked up at the first fight scene and smoothly rolled on from there.

I didn't see the after credits scene either. Can someone tell?
