This can be genres, individual game mechanics, plots, anything. Please be kind to those expressing their opinions and try not to start fights—Some of y'all might think I'm a fan of the echo chamber but negative expression does have its place and does deserve respect (long as it's polite).

For me, anything that allows you to make realtime decisions, but applies them in a turn-based fashion (Most MMOs, FFXII, many strategy games) is usually right out. Turn-based I like, realtime I like, but that in-between is just agonizing and imo serves no purpose beyond the developer's convenience. I'd rather the game not be made than be forced to play like that.

The other thing that bugs me is the isometric point of view seen in a lot of western action-RPGs (not to mention most of the "faketime" games mentioned above). I cannot imagine a viewpoint less immersive or removed from the action; literally anything would be better. Even first-person, which I traditionally don't go for. Typically games featuring this angle also come with a locked camera to boot, which only serves to take me farther out of the experience. I've tried Bastion, Torchlight II, League of Legends, the works; the only isometric-view game I can think of that I genuinely liked was the recent Wonderful 101, and not only does it have a much better reason (imo) to use that viewpoint, not only does it have segments that aren't isometric, BUT it also allows you to adjust the zoom and angle.

I can't think of any broad subjects of things I can't get into, but I recently tried finally watching Attack on Titan. I thought I'd be able to handle the violence/gore levels, but then I nope'd right out of there a couple of minutes before the end of the first episode, just before ...

...Er... Dunno if you noticed but this is in Gaming. :'D Maybe I'll make a separate one for M&M, though.

-MMORPG's. I've tried Tera, and Eden Eternal, and Ragnarok Online, and a few others that I can't even remember the names of. They're just plain boring to me. I always end up getting tired of the system of having to kill x number of monsters for whatever reason that I never care about. I just don't get how people can enjoy these games when they're essentially doing the same thing over and over with (what has felt to me) little variation.
-Most sports games. I've never enjoyed an official NFL or MLB or NBA game. There's so little personality or fun mechanics in them, and it bewilders me how people can keep sinking money into these games every year. Conversely, I actually enjoy games NBA Street and Punch-Out, that take their respective sports and try something more fun with them.
-Musuo games, like the Dynasty Warriors series. The gameplay is dull to me, plain and simple. I love character action games that have fun combos with a bunch of unique moves you can string together and unique enemy types, which (to me) Musuo games have the opposite: super shallow movepools and the same swarms of human soldiers over and over.

    Musou*

I totally get that. I play both, but I play them for different reasons. Musou games are very much the "Turn your brain off" variety of action, whereas CAGs are a test of skill. That said the newer ones are pretty damn tough, enemies are less prone to sitting around waiting for you to slaughter them and officers have a wider variety of techniques at their disposal.

Fighting Games - I really dislike fighting games. Well let me rephrase that. HARDCORE fighting games. I like Super Smash games and other fighting games under the "Easy to learn, Hard to Master" category. But others like Mortal Kombat, Super Street Fighter, and Tekken really turn me off. It's one thing to spend hours in finding that one character that syncs well with you and perfect all the combos. And to see all of that wasted when you go fight online only to get wrecked badly from a simple miss. It's a game that really kicks you to the ground for mistakes you make.

    Sports Games - Nuff said

Rhythm Games - As much as I love rhythm games, I simply cannot get into them. Mostly because no matter how much I put into them, I can never reach the skill of proficiency I wish to have. Every time I walk into an arcade, I watch in awe of those stepping away at those DDR pads or tapping away at those Beatmania machines. Wishing somehow, I can reach that kind of skill.

Mainly games that are in first-person perspective (with a few exceptions), just 'cause it somehow makes my hand-eye coordination worse. So, FPS' were almost never a thing for me to get into.

MMORPG's are also genres that I don't get excited for. I guess because of my previous experience being shot down by higher level people and never really progressing anywhere. It's also very time consuming, per my brothers' constant playing and deprivation of a social life lol.

But other than that, I'm pretty open-minded to whatever I play. The lack of funds for my collection is always limited, so I just happen to buy games that are JRPG's/FF/KH. But if I go to a friend's house or someone let's me borrow their game, I'm willing to give most things a try.

First Person Shooter Games, specifically online (Here's looking at you, Call of Duty) - Don't get me wrong. I can sit there and enjoy a good session of CoD for several hours, but the novelty's gone. My roommate on the other hand plays it every day, all day. I can't get that into it. Same with MMOs. I'll play a good MMO for weeks or months, but once I put it down, it'll be a long ass time before I pick it back up.

Multiple Endings - I hate replaying games. I want the story out of it. I don't mind replaying a game to pick up missing features, but once I hear a game has multiple endings that contradict each other (and then one TRUE ending), it's usually off of my list.

I don't care for online multiplayer stuff. Maybe I'm just old school, but nothing beats playing a video game with/against people you know who are in the very same room. I grew up playing video games alongside my brothers and those were the only times I'd play certain genres I never cared for. First person shooters and fighting games were a couple of those genres. I've played Halo and CoD with my younger brother, but I can never get into those. Just something about straight up war scenarios and seeing how many times you can kill each other never appeals to me. As far as fighting games, don't think I've played one since the Mortal Kombat days on the Sega Genesis. Again, just beating each other to death seems pointless to me. Come to think of it, don't think I've ever played a sports game vg (but I don't care much for real sports nowadays, anyway).

Sports games. Nah. My brother got Madden '06 way back when and I was vaguely interested because of the customizable player option with a teensy plot with the player going from college to pro and getting cooler places and stuff, but I know approximately zero things about football, so you can imagine how well this went over.

Mario Hoops 3v3, on the other hand, was the best thing to play on the bus in middle school with my friends starting up DS download matches. And I do like both the Wii Sports games. So I guess it's just realistic sports games that I can't get into.

I have this with a lot of Final Fantasy games, actually.
I think I'm going to love it and that I'm some huge FF fan but then when I play it I get bored after a couple hours.
I really like the aesthetic and some of the characters, but when you get down to it, turn-based just isn't my thing.
Unless it's a strategy game, then I can dig. But I say that having only played 2 and wanting to play a 3rd, so who knows maybe those are the same too.

Honestly I'm pretty tolerant to most game mechanics, but something I've always WANTED to like but never been able to acquire a modicum of skill in is puzzle games. I'm talking like traditional puzzle, not like find the key or push blocks, I'm fine at those. I'm talking stuff like Portal, or the most extreme example, Professor Layton
I want to get into this genre SO BAD because they always seems to have really interesting stories going on
    but non :(

It's hard to say because I really have phases. I've played (and loved) first person shooters, RPG's, rhythm/music games, platformers, strategy games, card games, fighters, MMO's, MOBA's (played/play wayyyyyy too much League of Legends let me tell you), etc

However when I am into "x" type of game, the others seem just meh to me. For example, I love kingdom hearts (no wai omg) but if all I really want to play is League, kingdom hearts doesn't seem that great to me. In the same sense that I can get burnt out from too much league and want to play anything but league of legends. Very rarely however do I like to play a lot of different things at once, it just feels a bit overwhelming to me. I like to put my all into what I play, and I know for sure that I can't do that over a wide variety of games. So I just let one or two games take my priority and wait until I either finish it or get bored.

^ I agree. I'll play any game, and I'm obsessed with that 100% completion. I give it my all until it is completed and then I rarely go back to it. Once I'm burnt out on a game it takes me a long time to go back to it. That's why to this day, even though I do find Call of Duty repetitive and almost boring, I still play it. Gotta get all of those Trophies. ;)

These non-game/setting simulators that people adore like Gone Home just bore me, except Animal Crossing but I usually play that in between games. Glitch games also drive me up the wall- WAAAAACKY PHYSIX, amirite fellas?

As far as things that appear in games and genres I love that I can't stand... Morality systems. I'm on a phone and this would be an essay if I was on my laptop, but lemme just say I think most choices in games come down to "be a hero, or be a dick without any cause or reason." Examples are the choice after defeating in Jack of Blades in Fable and killing Wrex in Mass Effect. Choices in games like GTAIV that are pointless and have no bearing on anything annoy me. And when games tie different endings to these to encourage replay value, I just lose my shit. Try no, stop locking me out of stuff so I can get the canon ending.

I used to think this way about CoD-likes, then I started playing Gotham City Impostors. It's just so fun and wacky and made me realize that CoD and CoD-likes need to do something extra to be fun. Roller skates + Shotgun = mmmmm. There's also body types that really help out with the whole overpowered knife thing, so the bigger slower body type will always be able to one shot the smaller, faster body type. Balancing! I play on Xbox Live, but it's free to play on PC... Sorry just trying to help :X

To meet you here, I used to think I disliked free-roam action games after just disliking GTAIV with such intensity. Then I played Lego City Undercover and realized I was playing the wrong games

If there's one game series I can't get into, it's the Fallout series. I'm sure it's objectively good, but nothing about it is really attractive, or fun to me. I've played at least 3 hours of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and I can't seem to get into either.

Dude, yes. I'm so tired of the binary morality system in games, taking us by the hand and saying "This is the bad thing to do, and this is the good thing!" You don't really get much of a choice at all in the end; so many games rely on you simply sticking to the initial good/bad path to get any benefits, with people who actually decide to use a mixture usually getting shafted of anything beneficial (gameplay or story alike.) One thing I kinda like about Telltale's The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us is that they simply give you multiple choices, without ever labeling one with the good or bad label/color, like Mass Effect does. Games really need to try harder if they want morality systems to actually be morality systems rather than "I WANT ENDING A OR B"

The issue with binary morality is that they're usually treated as equivalent, or one is just plain worse/less fun. Too often it's boiled down to purely gameplay, too. "Oh if I do this evil choice I get less gold and I don't get to get this item later on"
For it to work, it needs to have huge fluctuations. Make saving a really interesting character really hard and also unnecessary, make evil choices seem better, and only sometimes have a long term down side.
And the flow of conversations needs work, too. Going from Renegade to Paragon in Mass Effect during the same conversation causes insane mood whiplash

I like the way Growlanser does it, where choices are based more on your personality than moral code and they aren't ever labeled as good or bad. Each one also increases certain traits in your character, eventually locking out future choices that wouldn't make sense in context, and you can easily alienate your party members (thus making them less effective or even forcing them out of your party) if they disagree with you. Not to mention you can actually side with the villain if you think they're right, which isn't always an ultra-evil kill-'em-all scenario.

But yeah, moral dichotomies are pretty tiring for me too. I think Mass Effect is a little better at it though because Paragon and Renegade aren't necessarily goody-two-shoes and ne'er-do-well. I choose a lot of Paragon options because they lead to fights, and I like fights. I'd rather face down a bully than ignore them, bribe them, or even side with them; they're almost always the toughest ones around.
