I just had a thought on why the chasers don't have keychains. You know Riku was fighting with souleater before Way to dawn. If you look closely at both kyblades they look kind of similar. Souleater doesn't have aa keychain but Way to dawn does. What if a keychain unleashes a keyblades true form or something. Please question me on this.....

That would make sense as the Kingdom Keychain (this is refering to Kingdom Hearts one) was said to bring out the Keyblades true form and power. But I don't think it applies to all
keyblades, examples are (one being the) Kingdom Key since it came in that form first and didn't exist as a "premature" weapon like Soul Eater before forming into "Way to dawn."

The next one is Kairi's keyblade, hers in fact also has a keychain. It resembles both a paopu fruit with leaves at each point and Namine's (false) star charm from Castle Oblvion. However, I think that her keyblade came into being from Namine rechaining the broken links together and thus of awakening Kairi's memories of Sora, but it couldn't be called by her til she regained her other half, a.k.a; Namine.

[This seems really confusing, to break it into a simpler description; since Kairi now remembers Sora she had the resolve to go find him and not wait on the island anymore.]

The other thing about keyblades being born by memories is true and it's not made up by me. Roxas carries both Oathkeeper and Oblivion, which are Sora's memories of Kairi and Riku, respectively.

Did I make that more long winded then it had to be? XD

that really makes me wonder because in some other threads, people were saying that keychainless keyblades were more powerful since keychains held keys together...(keys take form based on their keychain) unfortunately though, souleater is not a keyblade itself and if riku kept using darkness he wouldnt have gotten a keyblade later on. i think Way To the Dawn took a form that looked similar to riku's souleater because the keychain on the keyblade.
