As an official thespian, I'm often interested in learning about what other actors have performed. So, lets discuss theatrical productions we've acted in. From oldest to most recent. -Arsenic & Old Lace (Mr. Witherspoon [Stand-in]) -Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble) -[Original Play - "Path of the Sky Riders"] (RIchie [One of three protagonists]) -Children of Eden (Ensemble) -Pirates of Penzance (Ensemble Pirate/Police) These aren't all of my performances, just the ones with major audiences and priced admission.
Ooooh, sounds fun! From oldest to most recent; Bethlehem Star (Essentially the bible's Christmas story) [the Angel Gabriel] When In Rome [Old lady who gets robbed/Ensemble] Guys & Dolls [M.C./Ensemble] Midsummer Night's Dream [Moth the Faerie]
Oh God, the translated titles sound so ridiculous. Aleksis Kivi's Seven Brothers (Maid who sang a song about squirrels. What, I was eight!) Three Musketeers (Street child/Ensemble) [Original] As if Everything Is Alright (The daughter. Despite not having a name I was one of the central characters!) Tuuli/Stupidly named adaption of Cinderella (Cinderella! My first lead!) Parody version of Romeo and Juliet (Narrator who really really wanted to play Juliet) Winter War, the Play (this was more of a interactive tour with a drama scene stuffed to the end. I was a Lotta Svard, a.k.a. tour guide/pretty girl giving guests hot juice since we were outdoors in January and it was about -30 degrees C) Hero Stories (Alex. I had about four lines, but I got to play a guy and Jesus Christ, it was the most fun experience I had had). Those were all done in Finland. Since moving to the US I've only been doing improv at Second City (had two demonstrations that went awesomely, next one is in only two weeks). I'm going to be auditioning to the Conservatory in June, since my basic improv classes end really soon ;.; I'm a Speech and Theater major in community college though, so next year I'm probably gonna do some actual productions too!
I have only been in one production, and it's hardly even notable. Every year at my school we have One Act plays, written and directed by the seniors. They cast only underclassman, and they're relatively short (20 minutes maximum). I'm no singer and I was uncertain if I would be able to handle something large, so, with the urging of a friend, I did one. I played two parts in a series of Monty Python skits. I don't remember their names exactly (the skits or the characters), one was a silly interview and the other was some business where they would whack people on the head? lol I'm glad I did them though, I'm a very shy/quiet person in real life so putting myself on stage like that scared the beejesus out of me, but I'm glad I pushed myself like that. I did it in my sophomore year and, now a senior, I've not been anything since, just because the drama department is pretty exclusive in my school and I never felt I quite fit in there. Plus I wasn't sure I would be that dedicated to it, lol. But yeah, I've great respect for those who do do it and have some mild interest in trying again. I love seeing shows though~
Dude, you've acted? I'd have loved to see that :] No one can deny that performing in front of a crowd, small or large, takes some real guts. I took theater to kill of my shyness, and for the most part it actually worked. I'm thankful for having taken the risk. Met a lot of cool people through it.
Hamlet - Ghost of Hamlet's Father Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter Bang, Bang, You're Dead - Judge, Father, Grandfather Princess Bride - Fezzik Incendies (Scorched in English) - Notary Jean Lebel The Failure - Nat Zastrozzi, The Master of Discipline - Zastrozzi
I was really not good at all, haha. They were not really serious roles so they didn't require getting into the character very much? This was one of the skits we did, I was the guy being interviewed. It was... an experience. But yes, it is definitely a good way to overcome some fears! I would not be opposed to trying it again. also people tell me I am really good at reading poetry aloud so I am hoping that means I have some natural born speechin' talent B|
I'm normally a very, very shy and quiet person in real life but I do enjoy drama, I still find it hard to come out of my shell, though. Most of my roles were not serious at all, just simple background parts. My old school's drama department was pretty exclusive, the main actors treated us like trash, haha. So, it put me off drama a little and made me feel as if I'd never be good enough to get a real, meaningful part. I actually want to aspire to be Audrey in a on stage production of Little Shop of Horrors. As stupid as that sounds, I think I'd be able to hold down the role pretty well. Anyway, enough about that, from oldest to most recent: The Sound of Music. Oliver! Annie! Alice in Wonderland. A Christmas Carol. The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
hmmmm.... once upon a time, hundreds of years ago, there were people who would travel town to town to do puppet shows. they did all the voices, and the characters movements, and special effects. dragons would spit fire, thunder sound effects and mirrors to move light sources, etc. one can still see, sometimes, such a performance at high end renny-faires. could that count?
