I used to wonder that too. But then I learned why. It's banned because you can do a revival loop with it by returning it to the hand. The equipped monster is only destroyed if Premature Burial is DESTROYED, so if its removed from the field (i.e., Giant trunade, Emergency Provisions, etc.) and not destroyed, the monster stays on the field, and if you use giant trunade, you can use it again. And there's a card called Hidden Armory that makes it WAY overpowered.

 

......Wtf mate? This is Sparta...

just.. it's still a one for one trade, no matter what you're using to return it to your hand, so you can't loop it indefinitely. The only way I can think of to loop it for free is using Ice Barrier's tiger synchro, and that can only use it's effect once per turn, at which point you can make comparisons to Lumina, who's only limited.

 

But the revival loop can and often does lead to gamebreaking OTKs. Which is something that Konami does not like.

it only does that if it's a flip effect, which Peten is not.

 

He's right. Peten isn't a flip effect. That one only gets banished. Sorry I missed that.
