I'm terribly sorry Joey. But you see. I've been meaning to say this, This move won't work because Kunai with Chain doesn't have enough time to resolve for Gearfried's effect to activate before one of them gets destroyed. Effects only resolve after a chain is finished.

I won't count it as a strike though. I'll take the blame for it. It's my fault for telling you that this move was legal awhile back.

EDIT AGAIN: I remember if Kunai with Chain is being targeted with MST it doesn't have enough time to resolve before it can make Gearfried's effect activate. Not enitrely sure if the same applies to Gearfried himself being destroyed though. Sorry again for misinforming you earlier. My knowledge of the game wasn't as great back then as it is now.

I don't think Kaiba officially activated his effect yet, so wouldn't XYZ be destroyed?

Regardless, he chained MST, so Kunai is destroyed.

 

The last part of a chain always resolves first. Gearfried's effect is not an optional effect so it can't miss the timing. You'll have to ask Slaughtermatic though. He'd know for sure.

 

Okay he would have activated Kunai before I activated XYZ effect(seeing as I was asking I hadn't initiated yet), but would MST have canceled it before his swordsman effect? (I really need to stop using MST in these situations...)

 

I thought what happened was you used the effect of XYZ Dragon Cannon and targeted his Gearfried but then he used with Kunai with Chain.

So what happens here is XYZ Dragon Cannon's effect becomes Chain Link 1 and Kunai with Chain becomes Chain Link 2. The question is whether or not Kunai with Chain resolves in time for Gearfried's effect to become Chain Link 3 and destroy XYZ Dragon Cannon. Unfortunately I am unsure of this ruling...

But I do know for sure that if you had selected Kunai with Chain as the target instead of Gearfried this move would not work.

Well actually I was planning on destroying all his cards on the field, thats why I wanted to know if I could, in that scenario I destroy Kunai and Gearfried at the same time.
