Jacob smirked. If he got these first-years on his side, maybe he'd have some help. "So, uh... Any specific reason you're interested in the Mandrakes?" he asked them, attempting to look interested. It was a pointless question, obviously, but he needed to find some sort of connection. "Or do you just like the plant?" he finished, smiling at them.

Taralynn felt her heart skip a beat in excitement, ready to prove herself to Jack. She walked swiftly over to the couch, sweeping on her robes and fastening only one button on their front. Her books were in their bag and over her shoulder in the next moment. She gave Jack another smile before leaving, but she wasn't sure if he actually was paying attention or not.

On her way out of the common room, her mind began racing again; getting out of the dungeons and all the way up to the fourth floor where Professor Smives would be would take a little while. Since it was in between classes currently, she knew she only had so much time till her Head of House would start the next class. What she should she say, exactly, to get the restricted section pass form the teacher? Smives knew she wasn't a very good student, didn't attend classes very often, and, being the Head of Slytherin, the woman knew very well about Taralynn's behavioral problems. But Smives still liked her, and Taralynn knew that much at least.

She shoved several Ravenclaws out of her way once she emerged from the dungeons, ignoring their cries of disapproval. Normally she would have stopped and given them a better beating, but now she didn't have enough time. Taralynn continued to think about what Jack had been talking about in the common room, and she felt a pang of jealousy when she remembered him talking about the first year girl he wanted: Faye. No, Taralynn did not know the girl or anything about her, and the fact that she was so young and new made her question why Jack even wanted to spend the time bringing her into his ideas. Taralynn sighed, halfway up the second floor's stairs now; at least she had a task to complete for Jack now, and that was enough for her at the moment.

OOC: Classes are now changing. Have fun with second period! But, please, for the sake of all of us, don't pull a Seamus Finnigan. lol

"Just wanted to see one," Ben replied to Jacob. He wasn't sure if he should go blabbing his friends' ideas to everyone so he'd answered with a quick half-lie. Professor Umbry dismissed the class. Ben took the chance to thank Jacob again and say good-bye to him and Layla, telling her that he'd meet up with her and the others at lunch to go to the library.
Flying was Ben's next class and he didn't want to be late for it so he hurried out of the greenhouse with the rest of the students. He liked flying and couldn't wait to buy his own broom in Diagon Alley. He'd even given a little thought to joining Gryffindor's Quidditch team.

    -------

After searching unsuccessfully for Becca, Al realized that she needed to get to Potions in about five minutes. It was times like this she wished she had map that would show the location of everyone in the school like Harry Potter was said to have had.

    -------

Potions class now. Jack frowned at his bag as he slung it over his shoulder. This was the class he shared with Al, and because of that it was his least favorite class. Since the start of this year, the relationship between the two had grown more tense than ever. She'd always given Jack a talking to whenever she caught him picking on younger students, but this year she could actually take points from his House for it. He needed to play up his goody-goody side with her. Or he could just leave her to the basilisk; that seemed like a better idea.

Oliva bid Tybalt farewell and began off for her second class, Herbology. That was always a fun class - she was more of a hands-on person, and that's what Professor Umbry was like. She was a good teacher.

At least her and Tybalt would be going to the library during lunch. Maybe they could even get away
with staying in there past and skipping fourth hour. She had Potions at that time anyway, and surely Professor Royal wouldn't pay much attention to her absence... At least, that's what she hoped.

Not being a very cooperative student was very new to her, she wasn't very good at it... Experience grows with time, so as long as she was careful and kept quiet, she should be alright.

    I hope.

"Well...I managed to miss Potions. Good work Ro.".
Ro stood up from where she had crashed on a couch in the common room, and walked out.
"But I shall not miss Defence Against the Dark Arts!" she proclaimed loudley, earning many strange looks off people.

Tybalt's next class was flying, which was one of his more favorite classes. While he did enjoy the rush of getting on a broomstick, he had a lot to live up to because of Juliet. She was Gryffindor's Seeker for goodness sake! It was still much too early for him to worry about that kind of thing though. Right now, he flew his broomstick partially for a grade, but also so he could have fun! Tybalt couldn't have too much fun though; he didn't want to forget his promise to Olivia. He was excited to meet the new girl, Faye, as well, but he also wished that she would get sick so it could be just the two of them.

Meanwhile, Juliet was making her way to Transfiguration. Part of her knew that stressing out about her last class meant nothing now and moved on to a subject she did rather well in. She heard that they were transforming lady bugs into hair-pins, which was something that she desperately needed. Tomorrow was the first Quiddtich match of the year and she hated getting her hair stuck in her face. That's what caused her to miss the Snitch last year, and she swore it would never happen again.

Jacob watched the kids leave and sighed. They were obviously hiding something, but they weren't what he needed. He glanced at his watch. Alright, time for Divinations. He smirked. Mister Lowe, the Head of Ravenclaw. He'd been working away at him for three years now, and had become a top student in his class. He barely had to work anymore. He walked out of class, waving slightly at the Professor as he left. He strolled through the halls, running possible solutions through his head. He glanced at students walking through the hall. Anyone could be... could be... he swore and shook his head, knocking the thoughts away. He walked up the Divination Tower, blinking to clear his mind. He'd go to the library at lunch. He'd figure things out.

He was clever. He could do it.

OOC: jeez, you get some kind of error and the classes finish. But it helps, since I kinda put my character in a corner for a little bit. I should never do that again.

Silea noticed some students beginning to walk by her. "Finally, it seems the first classes are done."
Silea got up and stretched. "Well, at least I've got Flying next, so nothing to worry about." She ran off towards the clearing was, hoping to get there before everyone else.
"I wonder if I'll meet anyone from breakfast at Flying?" Silea came to the clearing where Flying was being held. "Yes, I managed to get here first."
Silea grabbed a spot of the ground and sat down, waiting for the other kids to come.

Layla watched Ben leave and waved to him. She picked up her bag to hurried to D.A.D.A. It was one of her favorite classes but she wasn't sure who else was in it.

Faye quickly gathered her things and rushed out of the Potions class. She took quick strides as she crossed halls. It wasn't because she didn't want to be late - well, of course it was. However, it was also because she also liked Herbology. It could get a little boring but the professor was really nice and students could do a lot of hands on with all the crazy organisms they handled. She clutched her books tightly as she added more speed to her pace as she headed for the green room. She constantly looked at her sides as well for the possibility of seeing a familiar face.

Taralynn reached the fourth floor where the History of Magic class was located, and walked into the classroom slowly in case their were still students there. Finding the room empty, she moved more swiftly across it to Professor Smives office. Right as she raised her hand to knock on the closed door, she heard the older woman's voice from within say: "Enter."

Taralynn rolled her eyes at the woman's intuition and entered her Head of Houses' office with a clean smile on her face. "Hello, Professor. I had a quick question for you, if you're not too busy."

Smives looked up at her from a pile of paperwork, a straight, emotionless frown on her face. "Shouldn't you be on the way to class... like everyone else?"

Taralynn swallowed a rather impolite retort, her smile fading slightly in the effort. "Yes, of course, but... I needed something before I can worry about my Potions class. You see, this is important."

"Good morning, Professor Thoaldves," Ben greeted the Flying instructor. He noticed there were no brooms out for the class and wondered right away what they'd be doing for this hour. A couple of other students appeared and seemed to have the same idea Ben did.

    -------

Al and Jack arrived at their Potions lesson at almost the same time -- Jack only moments after Al. Sometimes she wondered how someone like Jack (who managed to set almost everything on fire) could get into a class as advanced as this one. She loved how complex the recipes for these potions were, and how patient their Professor was. Rarely did Al have questions or problems but when she did, Professor Royal was happy to help.

Silea got up and put her hand of the back of Ben. "Did you not notice me behind you?" Silea smiled at Ben, hoping she shocked him a little bit.
She looked around, seeing there were no brooms to practice on. "Although, I wonder what we're doing for flying without brooms."

Professor Smives only looked up at Taralynn expectantly, waiting for her to continue. Taralynn cleared her throat and began: "You see... there's a favor I need; I have some research to do in the library, but I haven't been able to find the books I'm looking for."

Smives sighed, looking up at the ceiling for a moment. It was a few more seconds before she replied: "Taralyn... the restricted section is labeled as such for a reason. Do you understand?"

Taralynn bit her bottom lip, thinking hard. "Yes, Professor. But, in order for me to succeed in my classes, I need all the help I can get. It's not my fault if teachers assign me material that can't be found in the regular area of-"

    "What teacher?" Smives interrupted smoothly.

"I would rather not say," Taralynn counteracted easily. "Telling you the class and instructor would feel like I'm snitching and... complaining about someone's teacher style, which I believe is wrong."

Professor Smives gave her a small smile now, which lightened Taralynn's hopes. "You sound exactly like your eldest brother, you know."

Taralynn tried not to frown, clenching her hands into fists; she hated being compared to her family. This was her chance to do something all her own, and being over-shadowed by any of her brothers or sisters was not in her plans.

Smives let out a laugh now, which almost made Taralynn jump in surprise. "Of course you can have the pass, you silly girl." She reached into her desk and pulled out a small piece of parchment with tiny writing on it, which she promptly added her signature to the bottom of. "And you needn't give me a reason, either; you and your family have always had the... best motives for this school, and I know you're a bright child." She handed the parchment to Taralynn. "Have fun."

Taralynn returned the Professor's smile. "Right. Thanks." She turned swiftly and left the room, dashing out of the History of Magic class as quickly as she could. That was easy enough... now, here's the real decision: do I rush all the way back down to potions and take care of my stupid classes for the day, or do I head to the library now? Someone, preferably teachers, need to see me today so I can be accounted for when that damn ghost finally does get banished.

She sighed and turn to head back down the stairs. "Class is it," she muttered to herself, and ran all the way back down to the dungeons. She knew that she'd be late, but, since she had (well, made) all her classes the same as Jack's despite their two year difference, she would at least be able to see him and tell him her progress.

Taralynn reached the potions classroom five minutes later, completely out of breath; being late would certainly mean points from her house, and if anyone from her family found out she was the result of negative effects to Slytherin, she would have a lot of trouble in her hands. She searched the dark classroom for Jack, and spotted him sitting alone not to far from her. Trying not to grin, she went to sit down next to him, setting her book bag on the table.

"Just made it," she whispered, but not to anyone in particular; she didn't know if Jack would be in the mood to talk, so she didn't get her hopes up.

Tybalt was happy that he made it to class on time. He gathered next to a group of boys, but didn't make any kind of sound. He was never good with talking to people; what happened back in the hallway with his sister and those girls was a burst of instinct. It was a wonder that he had any friends in school at all. He noticed that there were no brooms on the floor, which probably meant that the teacher wasn't here yet.

    ---

Juliet was always at the front of the class in each subject. She knew that it looked good to be seen by the teachers, but she also needed to pay real close attention if she wanted to be on top of her studies while also being the Gryffindor Seeker. The team captain (who was a Chaser) would be graduating this year, and she felt sure that if her grades stayed up, she'd be captain for the following years. She passed in her essay on Animangi, and listed to the spell to change the tiny creatures into hair accessories.

Professor Thoaldves smiled at Ben to return his greeting and then clapped her hands to get the attention of the class. "Good morning, class. Today, I have a treat for you all. I can see by your silly, puzzled faces that you've noticed out lack of brooms here. That's because they're waiting for us elsewhere. Anyone care to guess?"

"The Grand Staircase?" A snooty girl answered sarcastically.

"Oh no," Professor Thoaldves smiled kindly despite the girl's attitude. "Somewhere much more fun. Does anyone know what's going on tomorrow after classes?"

"The first Quidditch match of the year," Ben responded enthusiastically. He was starting to get the gist of what was going on.

"That's right," Professor Thoaldves winked. "So today we're going to bend the rules a bit... and do some flying on the Quidditch Pitch."

    -------

"Everyone's here? Good." Professor Royal looked over the Potions students. "For this hour, we're going to try a complicated, yet fun, potion: the Babbling Beverage. Some of you may know of this potion, but don't spoil it for the others! If anyone can successfully brew this, we'll have a bit of fun at the end of the hour. You'll find instructions and ingredients on page 22."

Al couldn't make up her mind if she was excited or disappointed. It was a hard potion to make, but the effects weren't all that interesting. She'd only made it once before in her sixth year -- as a prank on one of her classmates -- and couldn't fully understand why Professor Royal would choose it as today's lesson.

"Well?" Jack asked of Taralynn in a low voice as he flipped open his book and pushed the small cauldron on the desk aside so there'd be room for the book. He wasn't in the mood for a complex potion at all; chances were he'd end up setting something on fire somehow. He hated Potions.

Taralynn cleared her throat, trying to swallow her pride. "Smives gave me the pass, easily," she whispered in return, pulling her own books out of her bag. "But I came to class first instead of going to the library; I thought that would be best for now."

She turned to the correct page of her potions book and sighed; what was the point of this stupid thing? There was no reason that she could see as to why the teacher would assign such a silly task... but she slowly started to collect the first few ingredients called for.

History of Magic was after this. For some reason, Faye couldn't focus on her class. She wanted to fly. She wanted to get on a broomstick and soar, but she could not. She was stuck with plants. Everything green surrounded her. She wished that all the green turned into the field outside the castle, where students went flying. Flying was after lunch, but she couldn't wait. A great distance separated her from these places, but she imagined her flying already. She already knew some class schedules, and a bunch of students would be flying right now. How she wanted to join them.

Olivai looked to her left as she was in the haze of her mind, waiting for Herbology to end, and she saw Faye. She didn't know Faye had this class!
The professor was currently busy, going on about something that had to do with Mandrakes and their effects on the human, but she wasn't paying attention anymore. Now was the perfect chance to get Faye to come with them to the library!

"Psst," Olivia tried, keeping as quiet as she could, "Faye!" They weren't exactly close to each other, but with the rest of the students not being too loud, she hoped that her newer friend could hear her.

Faye's eyes were still looking beyond the glass window when she heard the hiss of her name. Startled, she immediately looked above her, expecting the professor to be calling her name for not paying attention. However, the Herbology professor continued to talk to the class. It finally sunk in where the voice was coming from, and she quickly snapped her head towards that direction. Olivia! Wow! It was Olivia! She hadn't even seen her there. And just like that, her whole being lightened up. Her blue eyes widened in greeting, joined by a grin on her face. She gave a small wave, unsure of what to say and at the same time quite scared that the teacher might hear anything. She didn't feel like getting in trouble right now.
