The Years to Come

Hearing the voice, Rayna's cheeks flushed. Her body composition shifted and her spine straightened itself, eyes alert as she snapped herself out of her daze. The girl looked shy herself, quietly introducing herself to Rayna with a gentleness the young girl had needed to encounter here at this school. Everyone was so excited and extroverted, it scared her sometimes. Her shoulders began to relax as a genuine smile appeared.

"Hey! My name is Rayna, first year, Gryffindor." She gave a small wave, glancing at the pile of books to the right of them both with a mild sigh. This was going to take a while. ​

 

Olivia dropped her head into the pages and sighed loudly, "You know," she began, "You'd think a history book would be the proper thing to look at when you want to know something about history." And she lifted her head slightly. More people had come into the library

since she and Tybalt had met up, and Faye came too, and she was happy for that. It was hard to believe that so many people wanted to know what was going on. She was just glad she wasn't the only one who didn't think it was a joke.

This year, Olivia's first year at Hogwarts . . . she wanted it to be something to remember, but she really hoped that nothing bad happened to any of her friends.

"Do you think there would be something in the restricted section?" she asked Tybalt, maybe just a little too loudly.

 

Tybalt began to ponder Olivia's suggestion. He wasn't' too sure there would be much about the Chamber of Secrets to begin with. "I dunno, Tybalt said as he flipped through pages of Hogwarts, A History. "We all know the story of how Harry Potter defeated the You-Know-Who but not much about that. What if all that information is lost? Or, what if they decided to not put it in the books to begin with. Think about it: Why would they provide the information of the Chamber if they don't want it opened up again?"

She smiled at the girl. ”It is very nice to meet you Rayna.” she pulled a chair and sat in front of her. She began to align the books in front of them, making sure they formed in a straight line. As she worked, she looked up at the girl for a moment. "Rayna, i'm going to be honest - even with the books I have with me I know very little of anything to do with the Chamber of Lies- er, Secrets I mean! I've lived in the muggle world all my life." she said in almost whispers - not just because it was a library, but she knew some people could find it odd that a pureblood like her lived there all her life. And had not been exposed to any magic until this year. However, she felt that this girl she was speaking to now would understand. Faye had planned to tell Olivia earlier but she had not been able to catch up with her after she rushed out of Herbology, frantic about not missing anything on History of Magic. In fact, Rayna did remind her a little bit of Olivia. Another first year, sweet and a bit similar to herself even.

Ben was about to ask Layla how pairs would be faster when he heard someone speak behind him. He turned around and saw a Hufflepuff boy who must have been a sixth or seventh year. He didn't look like he was out to get the group of first years into trouble, but Ben still cringed. "W-we were just..." He struggled to come up with some excuse.

"Careful," Al walked up next to Jay, having followed him into the library to scold him for bringing food in. "Someone might think you're up to something." She winked at Ben and Layla.

Ben bit his tongue. He was pretty sure that this new Hufflepuff was the House's Head Girl. Would she get him in trouble if she knew what he and his friends were doing? He looked nervously to Layla. Should they ditch their plans for now and come back before or after dinner?

"And you," Al turned on Jay, frowning, arms crossed. "Why are you eating in here?"

 

Jay chuckled at the kids. "I sense secrets and scandal." he teased them with a cocky wink, enjoying their nervous reactions. First years always cracked him up. These ones merited some more teasing later. As for Al, he threw her an innocent smile, confident that she wouldn't really get him in trouble. "Aw, Al, don't be such a hard arse. It was just a sammich and look," he held up the empty hand not occupied with a book. "It's like it wasn't even there." The now free hand flung itself around her shoulders, pulling Al in for a one armed hug, despite her frown and stiffened boddy. "Come on, why don't you go get yourself something to eat and I'll keep an eye on these hoolagans." he suggested sweetly.

 

"Should we just leave now and come back after class," whispered Layla so that only Ben could hear. She was worried enough that if the chamber really was open she might get targeted. The last thing she needed was to get in trouble.

Ro wandered about the corridoors,completey confused again.
"Where the hell am I?" she muttered,and spotting a giant door,walked towards it.
"I found the libary!!" she yelled happily,before noticing the evil looks she was getting off people.
"Sorry" she whispered.

 

Al laughed and rolled her eyes, punching Jay's arm. "Fine. Just don't... blow anything up." As Head Girl, she'd made it her responsibility to know which students were trouble makers, like Jack, and which students just caused accidents, like Jay. She smiled at the two first years and gave them a little good-bye wave. They seemed to just be researching for a class essay; she remembered when she had to write a length of five pieces of parchment for Potions in her third year. Poor kids are probably freaking out over their first long essay.

Ben nodded to Layla. Maybe it would be best if they could avoid attention from their upperclassmen for now. Then again, this boy seemed nice; he did get them out of a dangerous situation with Hufflepuff's Head Girl. I need to learn her name. Ben mused.

 

Jack laughed at Al after she left. "No worries guys, Al's a nice lady, esspically if you're cute like me." he winked at Layla. "So what are you guys researching?" His eyes flicked to the girl who entered the library loudly. "Geeze the library is popular." he commented, for the first time frowning.
Again his focus lightly landed on Layla and Ben. "Anything interesting?"

 

Layla moved her eyes towards Ben as to say 'What should we do?'

 

Jacob looked up and smiled. "Hey, I didn't really notice it getting so crowded in here." he said, grinning. He stood and pushed the books out of view. "So!"he said, clapping his hands. "What're we all doing in here today?"he asked, to nobody in particular.

 

"Oh, um..." Ben was partially wondering why the Hufflepuff boy was still talking to them. Was he really going to keep an eye on them? But maybe it'd be helpful for their group to have an upperclassmen on their side. They were more versed in magic and stuff so they'd be able to help out the first years. Taking a deep breath, Ben confessed, "We're trying to find some information on the Chamber of Secrets."

 

Layla sighed and hit Ben in the head. "If we get in trouble I'm so blaming you," she mumbled.
(and Love turns to annoyance xD)

 

Olivia frowned in reply to what Tybalt said. He was right, if they didn't want the Chamber of Secrets open again, they certainly wouldn't put it in books, "But information like that . . ." she started, "It has to

be catalogued somewhere, right? I mean . . . if it really is open again," and she dropped down to a whisper, "Then the person who opened it had to have gotten their information from somewhere."

And if it wasn't in the restricted section, then where else would it be? "It has to be somewhere," she said again, "Maybe not in this library, but definitely in this school, and -" she stopped, suddenly hearing all of the other voices. When did so many people get in here? She frowned and tilted her head around one of the shelves; there was Layla and Ben, a girl from Hufflepuff, Jacob, and a few others . . ."Tybalt, do you think we should wait . . .? There are so many people in here . . ."

 

Jay cocked his head to the side. "Yeah? Interesting venture for you guys. You're eleven right?" he didn't mean to sound rude, but the question did come off a bit condesending. "Did you ever think to ask a professer or older student for help." his expression melted from a teasing grin to serious worry. "I don't know much about the chamber, but I don't think you should play with this alone." he dropped his book on the table and picked up one of the Ben's to flip through it. "I'll help if you want." lifting his eyes to Ben and Layla's he waited before adding. "If you don't want help, I'll still keep an eye on you, but I will leave you be so long as you don't cause any harm."

 

"We're trying to find some information on the Chamber of Secrets..."Jacob grinned from ear to ear. "Ah, really?"he asked the two. "Is that why you were so interested in Mandrakes in Herbology?" he continued, although he obviously knew the answer. Suddenly, something caught his attention. It was Olivia and Tybalt, talking in hushed tones about something. He raised an eyebrow. He'd need to find out what they were up to soon.

 

Tybalt was thinking hard about everything. He wasn't too sure if Olivia was right. If no one wanted it open again, why would they keep the secret alive in the first place. Maybe You-Know-Who did end up telling someone and they passed it down throughout the generations. If that was the case, then maybe some information about it would end up in the schools after all. "If you are right, then it would have to be somewhere where no student could get it," Tybalt said in a low voice. "Somewhere where no student could get to it, only the staff or powerful wizards. It would never be in the Restricted Section. The books might as well be in the Chamber itself or...in the Headmaster's library."

 

Olivia raised her eyebrows in surprise at what Tybalt told her, The Headmaster's office . . .? she thought, averting her eyes to the ceiling. For anything that was more restricted or more dangerous than

what was in the restricted section, it would be in the Headmaster's office. That made sense, it made a lot of sense, but could they get away with it? Wait - wait . . . I'm getting ahead of myself . . . I can't believe I'm actually thinking about sneaking into the Headmaster's office. We could get in so much trouble . . . But maybe, just maybe, this could be worth it - they could be finding out stuff that could save people, or even better, their lives!

She looked back at her friend, keeping it quiet so no one else would hear, "It sounds like a doable idea," she started, "If we're careful, we can pull it off . . ." But there was all of the security that guarded the office, it was almost impossible to get in there without any knowhow - and Olivia didn't have any knowhow, but . . . maybe someone just might, Could Jack get us in? And she looked over at Faye.

 

Ro smiled,looking around the libary in satisfaction.
"Books,wonderful books" she murmered,moving towards the nearest shelf,eager to read.
Then she had an idea.
"There must be books on Hogwarts here...maybe one might have a map!".
Yet again,she had spoken very loud,and yet again,she got glares from people reading.
