The world of Laifel

Azazel walked towards the Kingdom of Ilianam.
It'll take me a few days to get there on foot, according to that Cat, he thought to himself as he remembered the Cat he just finished killing. Before he took it's life, he remembered Ras'tepa and asked the Cat if there's been any sightings of another Demon, a large slug.
All the Cat could do was shake his head and stare at his dead friends, her eyes covered in tears.
"Anything...different happen, lately? Anything out of the ordinary?" Azazel was determined to find that Parasitic excuse for a Demon.
"The-the only thing t-t-that's happ-happened..." The Cat had trouble talking between her sobs.
"Out with it!"
The Cat screamed and quickly yelled"The King of Ilianam had his own son executed!" and broke down crying. I'm going to die, I don't want to die...
Am I that scary? Azazel thought with a smile. "So a son disappointed his father, what's different about that?" he asked the blubbering Cat. The Cat told him that the King was normally kind, but around the time he had his son beheaded, he let his country go to shambles and even had his top officials replaced. Azazel also made sure to get directions to Ilianam.
Has Ras'tepa gotten control of a King?! Maybe the King himself was just corrupt?
"Thank you," he told the Cat as he gently rubbed her face, "You've been helpful, so...this won't hurt," he said as he snapped her neck.
If I fly, I'll stand out, and I do NOT want to do that... he thought as he started running. He could run a lot faster than most people of this world, but it'd still take him at least a Day to reach Ilianam

 

Tristan frowned as he turned around, "Don't tell me that you are about to decline the job."

 

"Oh, no," Eleanor gasped, stopping in front of him. "I just need you to answer something for me: don't you have any good reason in this world to not do this?"

 

Tristan's frown deepened. He didn't want to die, he didn't. He was worried for his sister but....
".....What's one sacrifice compared to an entire village. I would die before I see another country fall into shambles."

 

Finally tired of being in the library, Sameire took the new book she'd found - one that would hopefully be able to translate the first she'd found - and the one written in runes and left the library. She walked down the hall, heading for her room.

"Aduial," Aidou began slowly. "If we do this, will you have regrets?"

"Regrets for helping people?" Aduial answered the question with another. "No. I want to stop this despair and wrongness from spreading. And helping these people to safety, even if it's not in an outright way, will be doing some good."

 

"That's not my point," Eleanor insisted desperately, seeing how set his mind was. "I know your sister, Tristan!"

 

Tristan felt suspicion brewing inside him. "I highly doubt that."

 

"Really?" Eleanor said quickly. "You know that I grew up in Ilianam. My mother knew many people in the king's court, along with my father. Your sister needs you; you can't leave her here alone."

 

Becka could tell he wasn't happy about the her not having fighting experience, but she smiled at him. "Are you ever going to tell me to go away?" she asked him.

 

Lanan looked at Becka sternly. The only reason he hadn't made her leave was because neither of them had a family.
"We'll just see how it goes..."

 

Tristan's resolve nearly broke from hearing that. "...........I know..... But there's nothing I can do about that now............. I've been exiled. I'll be killed on sight. There is nothing that can be done about that, but there is something I can do here. These people deserve to have a chance to continue living. Can you allow me to give that to them?"

 

Sameire closed the door to her room and sat on her bed. She opened to the first page of the rune-written book, and the index of the translation book. If this took a long time, at least she'd have something to do.

 

Eleanor stared at Tristan. "I understand what you're saying," she replied. "Of course these people's lives are worth it, but you dying isn't the only way to stop these monsters! Sameire is a sweet girl and she's stuck there right now. She needs you!"

 

Tristan's fists clenched. He had enough. "You don't think I've already tried? I've tried five times already! Each time I nearly died trying. Not once have I even made it to the capital. I would need an army to save her. It cannot be done! If it could, I would."

"Everyone is ready!" It was the mayor. "Shall we depart?"

Tristan stared at Eleanor. "Time is running out."

 

"You haven't tried getting in there with me," Eleanor suggested. "Since she's a... good friend of mine, I wouldn't even ask for money or anything like that. Just don't do this; there are many other people like me, with abilities that can help what's left of this town without destroying it completely."

 

Tristan frowned at her before looking at the mayor. "You will depart in a few minutes." Tristan looked back at Eleanor. "You have thirty minutes to find a group of people who I think are capable enough to help these people. Else you leave with these people."

 

Sameire leaned over the side of her bed and reached under it. Judging by the translation she'd found, this was going to take quite some time, and she wanted to be comfortable. What she retrieved from under her bed was one of her brother's shirts. She slipped it over the shirt she already had on, happy that it was so big. She settled into a comfortable but workable position and got to translating the first page of the book written in runes.

 

"I know of two already," Eleanor said, swallowing her sigh of relief. "And I can give them the money here if they wish. Just... do whatever you wish in the meantime; I'll be back."

 

"Sir?" Questioned the mayor.

"Don't ask." Replied Tristan.

 

Eleanor turned and ran back to the forest, looking for the two she had seen walking over there earlier. She saw two figures just under the trees and made her way over there slowly.

"Hello, again!" she said cheerfully. "How are you two?"
