Well, if you live in the USA, you might have heard that Kentucky has been hit by a major winter storm. It's estimated that around 607,000 people are without power, myself included. At least 6 deaths have been reported statewide, and public schools have been out all week long. Many people are staying in hotels, or at friend's and family's houses. Sadly, lots of people are being thrown out of theese hotels due to a Rascal Flatts concert that many out of state or county Americans are attending. Even if families do opt to stay at another person's home, that houses is at a high risk of losing electricity as well. There have also been many fires due to use of alternative light or energy sources, such as candles and generators. If you are a fellow Kentuckian you know how bad this has hit the state, and if you aren't you cannot comprehend the state of emergency so many people are in.
Jesus! That sounds pretty bad. Do people know when the power's coming back on? And I guess you're using a phone right now to access the internet...>_>;
Actually I'm at my mom's boyfriend's dad's house. Not sure on when power's back for everyone, but they're saying up to two weeks for most of us.
If there is a Rascal Flatts concert, don't you think they would cancel because of the storm? I hope you pull through this skully. Seriously, you would think someone would have prepared for something like this.
in the part of Kentucky where i live... WE GOTS POWAHHH but like, i was expecting to stay home from school today xDDD but instead we got an hour delay and it snowed allllll day ._. PLUS IT'S FRIGGIN COLD :bored: D: and the power and shiz went out in Painstville, which isn't far from my hometown D: but HOLY **** i wanted to go to that concert, but we couldn't ;-;
I just saw that on the news. Yea, it's supposed to snow where I live on Monday but I really hope that everything clears up there. Be careful out there Sumi-chan D:
My sister is at that concert with her fiance. and there's a Kentucky game on tommorrow against South Carolina. I'm at my aunt's house. It sucks that we're out of power.
Good god. I can relate, when the ice storms hit New England back in December. Knocked out just as many people. Most of them didn't see power until New Year's. I had to take in my cousins because they didn't have power. Not fun; our house is tiny, barely fits us, and we had, like, 8 people in there. *hugs* You'll pull through, skully.
Welcome to winter. We have this annually, it happens between october and march. The white stuff isn't anthrax, it's snow. If it is yellow snow then back away slowly. If the snow is talking to you, then the snow is a dusting of cocaine. It sucks that the central us is getting crapped on by Mother Nature right now...but the storm's usually come from the other side of the rockies, trapping us in snow while you guys complain about global warming.
The only consequense (sp?) that has for me (no offense) is that the books that I ordered from Amazon (that I needed a week ago) just arrived today. over 2 weeks travel time! That sucks. On topic, though, we in NC went through a winter storm like that a few years back - lost power for about a week, ice everywhere, my family and I eventually went to a shelter. It SUCKED. The good part, though, was that we got to have a fire in the fireplace every day before we left. didn't keep us warm, but it looked nice! (I like fire...)
