While that is technically true, I do not say things are not my thing. I like a few albums from every genre I have sampled, for instance. I don't label things as too weird or out of my comfort zone. They are either good or bad at what they try to do, not that the style is bad itself.

    I'd almost say you're being a bit touchy :\

I'm not saying the style is bad or anything, I simply didn't like it as much as you obviously do, which is why I considered that song to not be "my thang". I obviously don't dislike ALL indie music, as I haven't heard EVERY indie song, but I don't really care to do so, alright?

See, you assumed it was indie. Indie only means "independent artist". There are indie rap artists. Did you look into it? What gave you that impression? Why did you lump it in with other theoretical "indie" songs?

I'm not being touchy, I am being a bit predatory. I am bringing out your inner genre-savvy bias. Hence why I had you listen in the first place.

Dude...whatever. You're really looking to far into this. I don't care what genre its supposed to be, I'm saying what it sounds like to me. You couldn't just say, "Yeah, we like different things, but at least you could appreciate the song"?

But it feels like you would say that period. If someone comes up to you and asks you what you think, you won't say it's bad, you'll say, "It's not my thang." No matter what it is or how bad.

I'm postulating that your taste is based on a division you have set up, or that you had a predisposition to find it "not your thing" because you already defined what your thing was before you listened to it. You shouldn't decide what "kind of thing" you like before you listen to a song. Before you listen to something, you have already decided to dislike it if it doesn't have x, y and z traits.

It makes you predictable. If something I suggest doesn't fit in with that you already like, you are not likely to show interest. You feel your taste is more or less fully formed. That is very limiting. You'll always see as it just not being to your taste, but you are stopping your taste from expanding unconsciously.

I'm saying its not my thing because I can admit the song isn't exactly bad but I wouldn't want to listen to it again rather than something I already know I like, or something new that is more along what I would enjoy.

And no, I didn't decide if I was going to like it or not before I heard the damn song.

I'd appreciate if you stopped trying to say you know how predictable I am. I can listen to a song, and say "Hmm...this doesn't sound bad, it has some things I like, but I don't really care for the song in general. Maybe I'll look for songs with the elements of the song I like combined with other elements I also like."

I almost feel like you shared that song with me just for you to say "This is why I'm right and you're wrong." I gave my opinion, be it however brief it was.
