The Walking Plague

"Yeah alright, that sounds good to me. I'm going to go get my stuff and meet you in the ring."Zack went to the locker rooms and got his bag out of his locker. He pulled out his wrist wraps and began wrapping his wrist so he wouldn't impact them. Then he put on his fighting gloves, his 8.oz blue and green fingerless mm gloves. Then he tapped upped his ankles so he wouldn't hurt them either. Then slipped out of his gym shorts, and put on his fighting shorts, his custom black with fire design on the trimming on the bottom. After he was done getting changed and geared up, he grabbed his mouth piece container out of his bag and went to the big room with the ring, punching bags, and all the sparring equipment and waited for Tye to get there.

 

Sienna took a bite out of the burger she was eating, her eyes set on a book she had right beside her tray. Due to her volunteering, she didn't have enough time anymore to study for any of her classes or do much of her homework. She usually did most of it on the half hour break she had while working. She was told she should just not volunteer while in school, but she didn't want to fall behind in her work either. Finishing the rest of her burger, she ate whatever fries she could and looked back down at her book, before she raised her head and saw someone standing beside the table and looking straight at her. "Um..." She swallowed and looked towards one of the exits in the cafeteria. "You can just go down there. Keep going down the hall and make a left and walk through that small hallway. You'll get to the front of the hospital and the exit will be right there." She turned back towards the male and smiled. "Is the person you're looking for a patient or a part of the staff?"

 

trisha stopped in front of her house, expecting to see her parents home already. that's weird. there were no cars in the driveway or the garage. She could see right into it since the door was up and became confused. Trisha was expecting to get scolded for not having the applications and yet her never tardy parents were both late from work. She didb't have any missed calls on her cell and they hadn't said anything before they left that morning. It was out of character and she walked nervously towards the house.

trisha walked inside and tossed her keys on the table. She turned on the tv in the kitchen and the original stories about cannabalism were now replaced with that of a car crash. Trisha turned her attention to the television as the reporter listed the street of the accident and the make of the vehicle. Her hands started shaking as the telephone rang, comfirming her fears. The doctor said they would be going into surgery immediately and the sooner she could get there the better. She picked up her keys, made sure kickers was locked up, and scrambled inside of her white bonneville. Tears were streaking down her face as she backed out the driveway. The hospital was all the way across town and she was scared and confused. Trisha was in shock, not understanding how it could possibly happen. Her parents had always been hard on her, but inly because they wanted what was best. They pushed her, but with encouragement. There was no way they could die because of a traffic mistake.

 

trisha yanked open her car door and climbed inside. She didn't want to get a speeding ticket, but the hospital was across town and she didn't really care. Her car veered in and out of traffic on the way to the hospital. She was fighting waves of sobs as she tried to see through her salt-stained glasses. After about fifteen minutes, trisha came to a screeching halt in the emergency room parking lot. She rushed out of her car, almost forgetting to lock it.

the light was dim in the hospital and everyone seemed to be frantic. She hurried over to the nurses' station. The nurse was on the phone and speaking in rushed sentences. "excuse me. Miss. My name is trisha cortz, my parents were just brought here. They were in a car accident." the nurse had a grave expression as she looked up at trisha. Her heart sank. it could only mean something bad.

"they were rushed into surgery about ten minutes ago. If you'll take a seat over there one of the doctor's will be with you shortly." the nurse gestured to some waiting room chairs through a pair of double doors.

trisha walked over to the chair hesitantly. Her eyes were red and puffy and her throat dry. A headache was beginning to form and the amount of crying caused her to yawn.

 

"O-Oh." Sienna closed her book and picked up her tray, throwing her trash away before returning back to Scott. "Well, they should either be in the morgue in this hospital or in any of the other ones nearby. If you want, I can try checking to see if the person is in the hospital. What's their name?" She opened her mouth to speak once more before quickly closing it, looking around as the lights shut off and then back on. The girl's brows furrowed as she saw several doctors and nurses rush out of the cafeteria. My mother told me things like this tend to happen. "It isn't, but things like this can happen," Sienna replied, returning her attention to Scott. "For all we know it might just be like a normal blackout or something." She smiled nervously before collecting her things, overhearing some of the conversations among several staff members. A murder? Maybe it's the victim this man is looking for. Pressing her lips lightly together, Sienna reached her hand out towards Scott. "I'm Sienna, by the way. What's your name?"

 

Tye picke up the kicking bag and walked over to Zack. He smiled at him and said..

"I see you wrapped your ankles again, I remember when you broke your foot..... let's try not to do it again...."

He nodded at Zack.

" Ready?"

 

"Yeah, I hope I don't re-injure my foot. That would be pain in the ass right now. So try and be gentle with me." He said with a grin on his face, then started with doing his right side kicks.

 

Tye just smiled at him.

"Sure, Sure..... Now start kicking!"

Tye would switch side, left right, left left, right left right, trying to keep his buddy focused and alert on direction. When Tye was about to make him do a couple more,Zack kicked him by mistake. Zack kicked him smooth in the ribs.

"OOOWWWWWWA........Come on man focus!!!!"

Then they started back up again.

 

trisha sat in the waiting room chair uncomfortably until a doctor came out, calling for her. "i'm trisha cortz. my parents...are they okay?" she noticed the expression on the doctor's face and was about to break out into another sob.

"miss cortz, you're parents are both in surgery. they are in critical condition. we're doing the best we can to take care of them." the woman waited a moment before turning to leave. she looked rather preoccupied, like saving her parents were the last things on her mind.

trisha watched the doctor leave and broke down in the chair. she grabbed a handful of of tissues and walked to the bathroom, blowing her nose.

 

Sienna watched as the cafeteria slowly emptied until it was only the two left. She suddenly felt uneasy again and followed after Scott, looking around as she saw someone she recognized quickly leave the hospital. What's going on? Opening her mouth to speak, Sienna returned her attention towards Scott, recalling of the man she and her supervisor assisted. "Actually...there was," she muttered, averting her gaze to look down at the ground. Remembering what the wound looked like and the male's symptoms, Sienna returned her attention towards Scott and stepped forward. "He had a large gash on his arm. It looked infected and my supervisor and I assumed it was simply a dog bite. But it was too large and too deep. He had a high fever and I left him alone with my supervisor. Why? Do you know what's going on?"

 

trisha came out of the bathrooms, dotting her eyes with the tissues. her face was red and her eyes puffy and bloodshot. she had to physically think about stopping before she accidently ran into a couple of people. "sorry..." the word was mumbled and barely audible. she walked around them and back over to the chair she was sitting in. the doctor came back out a few minutes later to tell her it would be hours before her parents were out of surgery. that she should get some rest or eat something. there was no way she was up for either of them, but decided to get some food to settle her stomach. the hospital was ominous without the main power being on. trisha walked pasted a slightly older man and a girl about her age dressed in scrubs. they seemed to be very interested in whatever they were talking about, but she just nodded at them and kept walking.

 

Tye looked over at Zack and said.

"All right, lets get some Sparing in, what do you say?"

Tye threw down his kicking bag and picked up his gloves, put them on and smiled .

"Let's do this!"

"The hell is this?" Adam couldn't help but laugh at the sight of his old bedroom. This was a gym? Ha! There was a pull-up bar over the door, but the archway was bent and cracked slightly, as if it couldn't handle the weight. Adam's old TV was hooked up to a DVD player and was facing a mat with several spots, which Adam assumed to be a sweatspots. There was a pillow and blanket there. One of those tables where people did sit-ups was near the window...covered in dust. There were plates filled with crumbs and several cans of beer laying around. Adam's bed was still there...but a shotgun, bow, and quiver filled of arrows were on it. John must have started checking out his hunting equipment while in here. He sure as hell wasn't exercising, after all. Adam sighed and cursed John mentally. The young man walked over, checking his old room in stride. His desk was no longer there, but his bed and drawer still were. His closet was open...there was nothing in there. Most of his posters were still up, but were barely hanging. 'I hate that man,' he thought as flipped the tv on. SSHHHRRRKKKKK. White noise. Shrugging, Adam lowered himself to turn the DVD player on, but at that moment, the TV flipped off. "Huh?" He pressed the Power button a few times, but to no avail. Then the DVD player, but nothing happened. "What's wrong with this thing?" He quickly walked over to the light switch and flipped it a few times. Nothing happened. He walked to the living room, just to make sure, and turned on the lamp. Of course, nothing. "Power must be out," he surmised. Strange, that doesn't happen often. He walked to the window to look at the weather. Maybe a storm started to brew?

 

Sienna's eyes narrowed as she stared at Scott, wondering what exactly this boy knew. "Can you at least tell me-" Sienna suddenly gasped and turned in the direction the scream had come from, watching Scott take off before quickly following after him. Coming to a halt, she watched the scene unfold, covering her mouth before pushing her way through the crowd. She caught a glimpse of the nurse's wound, quickly realizing it was the same...depth as the one she had seen earlier on the other patient she took care of. She looked towards the one that caused it, noticing there was something off about that one. She turned around and watched Scott take off in the direction they had taken the man. She looked around, watching several nurses and security guards attempt to calm down everyone in the hospital. Biting her lip, Sienna turned around and went into the room Scott was, momentarily turning her attention towards the man. She shivered slightly as she slowly made her way around him, quickly grabbing Scott's arm when she was close enough to him. "What're you doing?"

 

"Alright fine, let the sparring begin!!Zack went after Tye with quick strikes with his fist towards Tye's face, even thought they were pulled punches so he could throw a real quick kick to Tye's head."Here it comes Mofo!!"Zack lifted himself off the ground a little and was heading towards Tye with a flying sidekick towards his head.
