The Ultimate Final Fantasy Crossover

I always wanted a role play like this to exist, and this one looks good.

Oh god, I really wanted someone to take him so yeah, you can definitely be him! I don't know if you know, but this RP is on hold right now. I'm having some trouble in school (I blame me for taking the most classes I possibly can) so I'm not RPing until I get completely caught up (which I'm hoping takes no longer than this week since I was hoping to be caught up by today :/).


However (and this is for everyone), this RP takes a lot of development, as this is a development thread. So if you want to work out anything for your characters right now while we wait, that would be ideal. If you notice what I did for SOLDIER, I made tiny bios for them, you can do something similar for your character (or wait for me to get to it eventually). If you do it, then you can decide how your character will fit into this RP, even if it goes against where I put them, and adjust any history/powers of theirs to make them work in FF7. However, don't take too many liberties, stay true to that character (like earlier, Zidane wouldn't work in AVALANCHE).

 

Don't mention it, he was the first person I saw that wasn't taken that I think I can do well. If there are any other characters you want someone to take I might try to be them. I understand about school, I took too many classes, so I had to withdraw from one. About development, I got to warn everybody thanks to KH I'm a huge FF fan. I've played, not beaten, almost all the numbered FF games. Having wanted to make a role play like this for a while I did research on all the characters. What I'm trying to say is I'll do my best to help this role play.
I've had a few ideas for the role play. This is going to be a huge role play, with all the characters and the three sub stories, I've been thinking that when the actual role play is made, it might be made in three threads, a thread for each sub story one for Shinra, one for Wutai, and one for Ivalice. The pros for this idea is that even more characters can be involved, and it well be easier to keep track of what is goining on in each sub story. Next more characters seem to be needed, the wild rose rebellion doesn't seem to have enough people in it compared to AVALANCHE, and Ivalice seems to have the fewest characters.
I'm not trying to take over this role play, I don't want to. I just want to help however I can.

Yeah, well here, the maximum amount of classes you can take (without paying extra) is 19 hours (roughly six classes) which is what I'm taking. I changed my major twice, made my first major my minor, and picked up a second minor and a concentration in my major. I can still graduate on schedule, but I have to take maximum amount of hours every semester, which sucks lol

Good, that'll come in handy! Even though this RP was my idea (albeit inspired by other sources) and I came up with the general plot lines and character stories, I've only played a handful of FF games and I've beaten even less. However, the Final Fantasy Wiki is like my second home page so I've had to do a lot of research. Though I still don't know everything so if anybody sees something that just doesn't sit right with you, please let me know.

Indeed, but this isn't something I can easily help. I wanted to include all of the main protagonists and villains (If they starred in the original Dissidia, plus Vaan and Lightning), so those were my priority. The scope of the FF characters is large and still requires more research from me to include everyone. At the same time, I can only include the most relevant of characters (hence why I don't think it's necessary to include Marlene as a 'main' character). Then I had to figure out how each character will best fit in this world (Doesn't make much sense for Zidane to be in SOLDIER, for example). Because Shinra has the most variety and it's the most powerful corporation/force/government in the FF7 world, they'd obviously have more characters. Wutai on the other hand played a small part compared to Shinra (though it was a major plotpoint before the game's story) while Ivalice was made to include excess characters and, at least in my opinion, it's a small force compared to the others (I'm going by FF:Tactics logic since I haven't played FFXII)
However, if you think your character(s) doesn't fit where I put them or if you simply want to move them somewhere else, that's completely fine as long as you have good reason to move them ("I WANT SO AND SO TO BE IN WUTAI BECAUSE SO AND SO IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER AND THAT'S MY FAVORITE PLACE" won't cut it.)
Also, if you want to use other characters that I didn't include but are still important to their respective game, feel free to!

Oh, and if you want to use a character that I stated is off-limits because he/she is dead (Red XIII, Zack Fair, etc.), or because they were replaced (Angeal, Genesis, Cid Highwind, etc.), you can still play them, but you have to give them a different role than what they had in the game or move them to a different location. We'll just have to find a new way to implement them.

I guess to cover this: you can play any character from any FF game from FF:1 to FF:13-2 (However, for the moment, Noel is off-limits because I might end up using him for special purposes and Caius/Kaius is off-limits because he may have already been reserved), FF:Type-0, and the FF:Tactics as long as they're able to fight. FF:vs.13 is off-limits because we still don't know enough about those characters nor its story.

Ideas are welcome. This isn't a recruitment thread -we're not going to start once we have enough characters- it's a development thread so ideas, advice, and critique are much more than helpful~. As for the three different threads, I thought about it, but it'd be somewhat difficult. The idea for different threads in the same universe is something I've played with in my thoughts before (though not for FF RPs), but it'd be hard to do. While Ivalice is going to be more secluded from the main story than Wutai and Shinra, storylines will overlap and characters from one land will often be interacting with characters from another (Especially during battles. The RP will most likely open up during a Shinra/Wutai battle involving SOLDIER and the likes of Garland, etc.). That'd be difficult to do in more than one thread. It'd also be unfair to require RPers to keep track of two or separate three separate threads...though it's also unfair to require RPers to keep up with three storylines. This gives me an idea.

How does everyone feel about having three "location" threads: A Wutai thread, a Shinra thread, and an Ivalice thread? No matter who your character is, if he/she is one of those lands, you'll post in that specific thread? Although Garland is a Wutai general, if he attacks Shinra HQ, I'll post as him in the Shinra thread. If he's in Wutai, I'll post as him in the Wutai thread. Characters are allowed to be in more than one thread just not at once as that's the same as being in two places as once, which is impossible (for most characters <<). If your character travels to another land, it's not necessary for you to read the entire thread since your character obviously won't know everything about the going-ons of that land so a small recap will suffice. The problem with this is that it could technically be considered three separate RPs, but as it is, this RP is large enough to be considered as such.

Like I said, it's purely a developmental thread so ideas are welcome!

I wouldn't post all three xD Too much work for me alone. Though I don't now if three different OOC threads would be necessary.

Also, this idea is under the Final Fantasy Ultimate Crossover banner. The basic idea is a crossover between the FF series set in one specific FF game universe (in this case 7). Depending on the success of this, I might make the same thread but set in a different game. I'll name the specific crossover with the number for the game (most likely in Latin).
This one is going to be Final Fantasy Septimus. (Latin for either seventh)

 

Yuhuh, personally, I don't like the idea of three separate threads for location etc... it just makes it too complicated in my opinion... I think it's important that every post is easy to access and see for the sake of knowing the story and not accidentally screwing someone over. Every post in an RP should be read anyway right? So... making it three separate threads just seems like a lot of work for not a good enough reason as well as adding unneeded confusion.
As RPers, as long as we know who our characters are (of course... lol), where they are and who they are with, it shouldn't be a problem in a single thread, even if a lot is going on all at once.

I'm not gonna lie and say that there aren't any problems with the three story threads. I just don't think this role play can work well with only one story thread and one OOC thread. I feel that we must have either one story thread and three OOC threads, or three story threads and one OOC thread. What ever we do choose it has to be something that every one agrees with or they can at least tolerate. The worst thing that can happen to this role play is people wanting to leave it for they don't like the direction it is going.

Sorry to hear that, I feel bad now for only taking the minimum number of classes to be considered full time.

I'm sure some people will be glad to hear this, even if they have to come up with new roles for the characters to play.

Would you like some one to make a thread for recruitment, so that this thread can be used just for development.

I might be asking for some characters that aren't in the first post, but I'll explain how I would incorporate them into the role play. If any one wants me to, I'll think of some ways on how a character that you want can be added into the role play. I can't promise that they'll be added though since I just join this role play myself.

 

Meh. If work was put into it, the RP could flow in one thread, just perhaps banner coding/post type? You could have an official banner for each location/group, and the RP'r could simply utilize this to avoid so many threads.

Also, may I play The Shadow Lord and Fang, giving me 4 characters?

 

@nobodynerd100, let's leave it to just this thread for now since it seems to double as a recruitment thread. I'll start another OOC thread and ask staff to lock/delete this one once everything gets worked out.

@Britishism. That might work. I was planning on making three separate banners for each thread, but we could definitely make them a bit smaller and incorporate them into our posts. What I'll do is this: when I post the OOC thread, I'll post a poll with it to see what the majority of people would prefer.

For Zack, you can say something along the lines like he was saved by the Wild Rose Rebellion but has no way to return to Shinra or he offered to help them overthrow the government.
Or maybe he fell into the ocean and wound up in Ivalice? It's all up to you, so if you think of something else, feel free to suggest it~
Genesis is a hard one. If you can't think of anything else, we'll include him in SOLDIER 1st Class then.

 

Excellent, that's what I was thinking for Zack. That the Wild Rose Rebellion saved him after Cloud left when he died. And Genesis isn't all that hard at all. After all in the secret ending in Dirge of Cerberus, Genesis is still alive. I've no idea what happened to him when Weiss and Nero took him. Hmm, I don't think he'd return to Shinra, after all the effort he went throught to show Angeal and Sephiroth how much he hated them and that they should leave too. I was going to suggest after he left with Weiss, he went to Ivalice and joined the Zodiac Braves. Since he found a way to stop the degredation process, he'd be turning his attention more back to gaining power and getting his revenge on Shinra.

 

Mind if I also claim Minwu as the adviser to Judgemaster Cid. Minwu could be the one to save Zack just like he did with Firion in FF2

 

This is going to seem odd, but one of the characters I wanted to ask for is Leon from FF2. My reason is, with ventus asking for Cecil, the best place I could could think for Cecil that keeps him to a simular position he had in FF4, is that he starts out as a dark knight in the Wutai army where starts having doubts that what he is doing is right. This is how I have Leon being added, with him being a dark knight in the Wutai army as well wanting to gain Emperor Mateus trust and respect.

On another note if no one else wants to be him I think I can be Seifer,

 

Hmm that could work, but it leads to a problem with a timeline. You can start Genesis off as he was near the end of Crisis Core. There'll be a time skip in the RP and he can be in Ivalice after that. Or even Wutai since Ivalice won't have a problem with Shinra at first.

I was going to say no, since Minwu might be too much of a minor character, but since the Wild Rose Rebellion is small, that'll be fine~

Seifer's yours and that's exactly what I thought for Cecil. However, having two Dark Knights in the same role seems redundant.

Oh, and Britishism, what do you think about switching Kain and Fang's role? Put Kain with Cecil in Wutai and Fang in Ivalice?

Guys, I'm finally making some headway with things and this should be up and running sooner than I thought (to be honest, I was expecting a 2012 start date!)
Is there any other issues to work on or questions you guys have?

 

Alright. I'm starting production on this full-force. I'm working on the main thread tonight. I'll probably post it when I finish it in order to pull some more interest, hopefully, and revive any dead interest <<. As I've been saying, if anybody still has any questions, concerns, let me know~
