***PROLOGUE*** (X Day, X Month, X Year) "The Keyblade is said to hold phenomenal power. One legend says it's wielder saved the world, while another legend says that he wrought chaos and ruin upon it."----Ansem the Wise; date written, unknown. (X Day, X Month, X Year) "We must return to free them from their torment."----Unknown; date written, unknown. The keyholes have been sealed, Kingdom Hearts has been locked, and peace was to reign over the world for eternity...or so they had thought. 12 years have passed since Sora's final battle with Xemnas, leader of Organization XIII, a malicious group intent on capturing the hearts released by the Keyblade and summoning Kingdom Hearts to regain what they had lost long ago. Sora, Riku, and Kairi had returned to their island and were prosperous. Sora has been perplexed for years as to the meaning of Ansems reports. Who did they need to free from torment? Where are the other keyblade wielders? Sora wanted to find the answers to these questions, but with no way to get to the worlds, he had no other choice...he had to delve into the darkness. Sora willingly opened himself to the darkness and made it to a world familiar to him, Radiant Garden. Back on the island, Riku and Kairi were worried about Sora and needed to get to him, but how? Was this the end? Or just the beginning of something much greater than they could comprehend? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE TWILIT KNIGHT CHAPTER 1: ARRIVAL "Where am I?", asked the dreary Sora. Slowly awakening, he noticed his surroundings. He was in the castle at Radiant Garden. The sun was at high noon, and the air was damp. Sora meandered over to Merlin's house to meet up with everyone. After all, it had been 12 years since he had seen them. He opened the door and instantly fell to the ground. Merlin's house had been completely ransacked. He ran back to Ansem's lab, which was also Leon's base of operations during the Hollow Bastion War. Everything looked like it had the last time he had visited. "Typical Leon" he thought. But it wasn't. He heard some clicking and went to the computer room. A mysterious figure in a black cloak was standing over the cold body of Leon. Sora: "LEON!! Leon, get up!" Shrouded Figure: "His heart has been sent to oblivion, along with many of the others. Kingdom Hearts shall be mine..." With that, the Shrouded Figure disappeared into a corridor of darkness. Sora: "Get back here!" Sora quickly ran to the town. Buildings in ruin...people lying on the ground, lifeless. Sora was looking around for anyone to find out what had happened. Sora: "Is anyone here? WHAT HAPPENED!?!?!!" Sora looked around and saw someone standing on the roof of a building far off. It was Yuffie, battered and bruised. Yuffie: "There all dead. That man in the cloak showed up and stole all of their hearts. I was in the midst of fighting him when Leon jumped in. They ran off somewhere. Have you seen him?" Sora: "He's dead. I saw that man doing something in the computer room when I got here." A motor could be heard off in the distance. Cloud came riding in on the Fenrir. Cloud: "Yuffie, has anything new happened?" Yuffie: "It's Leon...he's dead..." Cloud: "...hmph...Sora, I think we should let you know what's been going on after you left." Cloud began to explain what happened around 3 years after Sora had defeated Xemnas. People in the town had begun to vanish. Heartless and nobodies had begun to show up again. Then, this mysterious man had shwon up around a year afterwards. He led an assault on Radiant Garden and annihilated the the town. Tifa and Aerith had died in the siege. Cid went after the man on his own and failed. The town was now ruled over by their Nobodies. Cloud: "I'm sure by now, Leon's nobody is awakening." Sora: "I wonder if this has been happening anywhere else. I don't think they would just want Radiant Garden." Yuffie: "Who knows. But, it's all we can do just to stay alive. It's a good thing you showed up. The heartless are coming in wave after wave. I don't know how much longer we can take." A noise was heard in the distance. Cloud, Yuffie, and Sora all went to investigate. A lone shot was fired and grazed Soras' shoulder. In the distance, stood Leon...or...his Nobody. He stood dual-wielding gunblades and dressed in a black cloak. Xelon: "Hmph...I won't miss this time." He pointed the gunblades at Sora. Sora: "Leon, don't do it. We're your friends." Xelon: "Leon...I used to be called Leon...but no more! The name's Xelon. Now die!" He fired both weapons simultaneously at Sora. Sora quickly drew the Keyblade and blocked the first shot, but the second penetrated the same shoulder. Sora: "Fine. If I have to take you down, then I will!" Sora concentrated his power and both Yuffie and Cloud quickly backed away. In a burst of light, Sora had transformed. His clothes were blood red and black. He was wielding the Kingdom Key and Inverse Kingdom Key in his hands. Yuffie drew her shuriken and Cloud raised his sword. All 3 leaped after Xelon, who mysteriously teleported behind Yuffie. He grabbed the back of her bandanna and threw her our the window. Cloud jumped behind him and swing his Buster Sword and made a thin slice down Xelon's back. Xelon teleported again. But this time, Sora followed him. He quickly ran after Xelon, who was standing on a ridge outside. He vanished and appeared below where Yuffie was falling. Sora: "Yuffie, look out!" ...But it was too late. Xelon drew his gunblade and swiftly jumped upward, slicing through Yuffie. Xelon: "Soon, her Nobody will help to serve our leader." Sora: "Who's your leader? What does he want?!" Xelon: "Wouldn't you like to know." And with that, Xelon vanished into a corridor of darkness, just as the Shrouded Figure had done before. Cloud came outside soon after this had taken place, only to see his comrade lying lifeless on the ground. Cloud: "First Tifa, then Aerith and Cid, and now Yuffie...I don't know what we're supposed to do." Sora: "Maybe we should find Mickey. Maybe he'll know something." Cloud: "He's dead! I thought you already knew. You, Riku, and Kairi are the only keyblade wielders left." Back on the island, Riku and Kairi were wondering on how to get to Sora. Riku could think of only one way...travel the darkness. He had done it before, why not again? Kairi: "Riku, no! I don't want to lose you or Sora again." Riku: "It's our only hope to get Sora back." The air at Destiny Islands was growing thick. Riku sensed the darkness creeping onto the island. Riku: "Kairi, go to the secret place. There's not much time!" Kairi: "But..." Riku: "NOW!" Terrified, Kairi ran to the door in the Secret Place. Riku stood outside staring into the ocean that was turning black. Soon after, a man in black appeared behind him. Kairi had peeked her head back outside to see what was going on. She saw the shrouded figure take their hood off, but couldn't see their face. Riku: "So, you're back again." Shrouded Figure: "Yes, Riku. I have arrived." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAPTER 2: THE VERGE OF NOTHING With fallen comrade in arms, Cloud and Sora laid Yuffie to rest while awaiting the next attack of heartless or nobodies. Cloud: "Sora, I don't know how much longer we have left. We need to get out of here quickly." Sora: "I still have so many things to learn. Who is that man I saw in the computer room?" Cloud: "What man?" Sora: "When I first got here, I saw some guy in a black cloak doing something to Leon's computer." Cloud: "Then that's where we need to go. We need to get out whatever he put in there." Cloud and Sora began to the computer room when the saw the army of nobodies and heartless awaiting their arrival at the base of the castle. Swarms of heartless were spread throughout the area, patrolling for intruders. Through the cracks of the walls you could see nobodies walking around everywhere. Cloud: "This should be fun." Sora: "Cloud, I think we need to find another way in. If we go head on, we're going to die." Cloud: "Then you go around while I hold them off. If you can get to the computer, you can access what we need." Sora: "Alright, but don't go dying on me." And Sora walked off, into the cracks of the castle. Outside, Cloud prepared for the battle of his life. Cloud: "I can't lose. I won't let them down. Tifa...Cid...Aerith...Yuffie...I...I won't lose." Xelon can be seen on top of the castle, staring down Cloud with gunblades in each hand. Xelon: "Cloud! Have you come to face oblivion? Welcome the darkness into your heart once again and join us!" Cloud: "No, the darkness killed my friends. I obey the dark no more!" Cloud leaps up the building, running up it while effortlessly wielding his Buster Sword and slashing through anything in his way. Xelon prepares for Clouds attack and sends more heartless after him. Cloud: "Get outta my way!" Xelon: "Submit to the dark, Cloud!" Xelon leaps backwards as Cloud swings his sword, just narrowly missing him. Cloud dislodges another sword from his Buster Sword and begins to chase after Xelon. Meanwhile, back on the island, Riku is confronting the cloaked man who appeared shortly after the darkness had begun to spread. Riku: "So, what is it you're after?" Shrouded Figure: "Kingdom Hearts. It's power shall be mine. Surely you lust for what I speak of. Unimaginable power. The power to reign over all hearts." Riku: "Power is nothing without my friends, and I'm not about to give them up again!" Riku draws the Way to Dawn and attacks the Shrouded Figure, revealing his identity. Riku: "What? How can you still be alive?" Shrouded Figure: "Who's to say that a Nobody even truly exists. That is my ultimate goal. To exist amongst you all." Riku: "Not if I can help it. All you want to do is spread the darkness." Shrouded Figure: "Then we shall fight. Maybe when I exist, I will make decisions less foolish than yours." The shrouded figure draws out a blade and stances himself to attack. Kairi is still hiding in the secret place and finally sees the identity of the Shrouded Figure. It was Tidus's father, Jecht. Kairi: "That's impossible, Jecht died 8 years ago." As Kairi is watching them fight, Tifa's nobody, Xifat, appears behind her. Xifat: "He did. But, his will kept him bound to this world as a Nobody. When Sin was destroyed, Jechts soul was freed and it returned to his heart in the Farplane. But all that was left of him was this empty shell. Now, Keyblade wielder, prepare to die!" Kairi draws her keyblade, Befonded Hope, and rushes towards Xifat. Kairi is led outside of the secret place by Xifat and the battle begins. Xifat punches the ground and sends a wave of sand straight to Kairi, thrusting her back into a wall. Kairi, battered and bruised, stands up with a radiance of resiliency aloft. She picks up her keyblade and rushes towards Xifat and strikes her, cutting her across her chest. Xifat: "I'm done playing around." Xifats fist begins to glow with an ominous power coursing through her. Xifat: "FINAL HEAVEN!" Xifat releases the power in a single, bone crushing blow, throwing Kairi against the top of the rock wall and flying through the air. Riku notices Kairi and rushes to her aid, only to be stopped by Jecht's Nobody. Jext: "Where do you think you're going?" Jext raises his sword and slices directly down, shattering the bridge separating the islands. Riku is thrown into the water by the force of the attack. Jext begins to walk over to Riku when the island starts to deteriorate. Jext: "Xifat, let's leave them be. They won't make it off this island alive." Xifat: "Yes, Jext." Jext summons a corridor of darkness and both of them leave the island which is being consumed by the darkness. Riku struggles to get up and walks over to Kairi. Riku: "Kai...ri...get...get up..." Riku picks up Kairi and gets her into the secret place. He picks up his keyblade and hers and unlocks the door to the world. Riku: "Get ready....cause there's no turning back..." Kairi awakens from unconciousness to see Riku pulling her into the door. Kairi: "Let's find Sora, together. Don't leave me again." Riku: "I won't. I promise." With that, Riku and Kairi enter the door and are sucked into the darkness and appear in Traverse Town. Riku: "Kairi...Let's find a place to rest a bit." Kairi is asleep in Rikus arms as he carries her to the hotel and lays her on the bed of the Red Room. Riku sat down against the wall, looking at Kairi. Riku: "I promise, we'll find Sora, no matter what." Back in Radiant Garden, Cloud was in a battle with Xelon. Cloud swung his sword and knocked Xelon against the wall. Xelon got up and evaded the next blow and began to fire relentlessly upon Cloud. Cloud deflected the shots effortlessly and ran towards Xelon and struck, finishing off the Nobody for good. Xelon: "Cloud...thank you..." Cloud: "You're welcome, Leon." Xelon: "I wonder...I wonder what will happen when Sora gets there...." Xelon faded back into darkness. Cloud was puzzled by what he had said. He began to fight off the heartless and nobodies to make his way to Sora. Sora was in the basement level of the castle. Sora: "I need to find a way up." Sora soon found a switch that controlled the elevators. Sora: "Still got it." He boarded the elevator and rode it as far up as it would go. He walked out and saw the desolate castle falling into shambles. He entered the main hall, where nearly 15 years ago, he had sealed the keyhole to the world. He walked up to the area where the keyhole used to be and realized something. It was still active. So, he drew the keyblade and sealed the keyhole. Sora: "How could that keyhole still be active? I sealed it when I defeated Xehanort's Heartless here." Sora wondered down the halls and found himself on the route to the computer room. He noticed that the nobodies were nowhere to be found. Sora: "Good, that means Cloud is still alive." Sora ran to the computer room and got to the console and turned it on. He looked at the data that Jext had put in there. It read: "The Room of Sleep is buried deep below Radiant Garden. That is where I'll find what I need. Soon, Kingdom Hearts shall be mine and I will truly exist. Xemnas, you did a good job in distracting the Keyblade Master. Now, I shall finish what you have started. I shall go through the Room of Sleep to the Verge of Nothing. This charade shall soon end." Sora: "What's the Room of Sleep? Maybe Tron would know." Quickly, Sora digitized himself and went to Tron's world. He had to find out what the Room of Sleep was and why the Verge of Nothing was so important to Jext. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 3: The Pursuit of Truth Sora's data appeared in Tron's world. He felt uneasy. Sora: "I wonder where Tron is?" Sora walked down the barren hallway. He found the Master Computer Room and began to look around in the system. Sora: "Okay...let's look up the Room of Sleep...Nothing...how about...the Verge...of Nothing...Still nothing! Suddenly, an alarm went off blaring in Sora's ears saying, "Intruder alert! Unauthorized access!" Sora merely ignored the alarm and continued his search. He kept this up for hours, but continued to come up empty-handed. He started to wonder how Riku and Kairi were doing back on the island. Ever since he defeated Xemnas, everything had gone wrong. Peace was existant, but not for him. He had felt this dark grip taking over his heart. Riku had continued to train with the Keyblade growing even more powerful. He had almost mastered his use of the dark and light in combination. Then it happened... Back in Traverse Town, Kairi had awakened to an unconcious Riku with Keyblade in hand. She tried to sit up but was in a lot of pain from their encounter. When she looked out the window, she felt this weird pinching on her neck. She saw Riku's reflection in the mirror, and darkness was seeping out of his hands into the back of her head. Kairi: "Riku...why?" Riku: "I was ordered to protect the princess at all costs. I'm taking you somewhere no one will try to harm you." Kairi drew her keyblade fearing the Riku had surrendered to the dark again, but was disarmed by Riku who merely stared into her eyes. She felt a gentleness coming from his eyes. She closed her eyes and laid back. Riku: "Kairi, don't worry. I'll find Sora and fix everything. Just don't follow me..." A thin layer of light surrounded Kairi. Riku: "That should keep the darkness away...at least long enough for you to rest up." Riku exited the door, leaving Kairi defenseless... As Sora began to nod off by the computer, a heartless walked through. But it didn't attack him. It passed him by as if he weren't there at all. Sora: "O....kay..." As Riku was training, Kairi began to train as well. She and Riku had been spending more time together than usual. The darkness he felt over heart would pulsate whenever he saw them together. Two years had gone by like nothing. He still couldn't get rid of the darkness plaguing him. He drew his keyblade and attempted to destroy the darkness inside him. But it only separated the darkness from his soul. His heartless had been born. That's what started all this. 'It's all my fault' he thought. That's why he left the island. He needed to correct the mistake he had made. He had to kill Valex. Tron: "I am the MCP. User, what is your reason for being here?" Sora: "Tron?" Tron: "Sora! It's been so long since I've communicated with you. How's the user-world?" Sora: "It's fine for now. I'm not sure how long that'll last. How's being MCP treatin' ya?" Tron: "It's great! The system has never been more efficient..." Sora: "Tron, have you heard of the Room of Sleep?" Tron: "Why, yes. It was input to my data many years ago by Master Ansem. Why do you ask?" Sora began to explain to Tron what had happened since he had arrived to Radiant Garden. He told how he and Cloud had invaded the castle to look for answers. Tron: "The Room of Sleep is buried underneath the computer room in the castle. I'll open the door and activate the town security system to help buy you some time. Good luck, Sora. I hope you can help the user-world." Sora: "Thanks, Tron!" Sora was sent by Tron back to the real world. He took the elevator down to the ground level. There was a spiral stairway going further down into the ground where the opening was. He began to make his way down the stairway. Sora: "What could be in this room? And why is that man so interested in it?" Sora approached a door. He drew the keyblade and held it in an attempt to unlock it. It wouldn't budge an inch. Sora: "Hmph. Guess I'll have to do this the FUN way." He attacked the door, slicing through it effortlessly. There was a long stretch of hallway with what looked like cells on each side of the hallway. He peeked in one of the cells and was frightened. The lifeless bodies of Organization XIII was in each of the cells, among some other Nobodies he didn't recognize. Sora: "What the hell is going on here?" He continued down the hallway towards the giant door on the other side. It was unlocked. There was a chair with chains in the floor leading from it all over the room. He looked around. Sora: "Is this it? There's nothing here." He walked around examining the wall. He began to knock on it. There was a hollow spot. He broke through and began to realize he didn't know what he had gotten himself into. There were multiple doors with locks on them. Much like the one in the Secret Place back on the island. Some didn't have a lock on them, though. Sora walked to one of the doors and opened it. An eery darkness consumed him and sucked him in. He was in Twilight Town. The door he went through was the door to Twilight Town! He went back through and sealed the door. Sora: "So, these are all the doors to the worlds. Is this the Verge of Nothing?" A mysterious figure appeared behind Sora. Figure: "Yes. It contains the doors to all the worlds. But you aren't going to ruin our plans." The figure unhooded himself. It was Jext. He drew his sword. No sooner had he done so, darkness swept over the entire room, destroying it. Jext: "What is this?" Sora: "You really think I would know?" But he did. He felt this darkness following him the entire time. It was Valex. He was here. Sora could see nothing at all. But he heard a conflict at a distance. 'Valex isn't working with Jext?' he thought. He raised the Keyblade and light radiated and overtook the darkness clouding the room. Jext was motionless on the floor. Sora saw one of the cell doors open in the distance and Jext's body dissapated into the cell. Valex appeared behind Sora. Valex: "Hello, brother." Sora: "I'm not your brother, you sick monster!" Sora drew the keyblade and ran at Valex. No sooner than the keyblade was drawn, Valex was already behind Sora again. He weilded what looked like the same weapon Riku used to awaken the darkness in hearts. It pierced through Sora. He was lifted in the air. Valex: "Have fun surfing the dark abyss, brother..." A dark cloud enveloped Sora and he disappeared as he heard Valex laughing. Sora drifted through the darkness for what seemed like forever. Suddenly, a ray of light shone through. But where was it coming from? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, chapter 3 is up. I'll start work on chapter 4 when I get enough time to get it going. Next chapter: Riku's Secret
Don't bump your own threads. It's bad form. First off. Is this a story or a script? I didn't get past the first paragraph in all honesty because when it is in script form i'm expecting it to be acted out in front of me which would then make me reading it seem foolish. If this is meant as a script then more power to you, but just for future reference, this is my opinion.
It's meant to be a story. I put it in script format to make it an easier read, rather than clumping everything together at once. If I could make this thing an actual script, I'd cream my pants. Anyway, I haven't even started on Chapter 4, yet. I've been busy with high school almost ending for me. One day, I'll just sit down and the juices will start flowing.
I like this story. It is pretty descriptive;although you did use description less as it went on. I didn't expect Jecht or Tifa,Aerith,Leon,Yuffie or Cid to die;it's good to sometimes catch people of guard. The only thing is I agree with shades;sometimes it was hard to tell that it was a story or script.
I like your writing style, the way it is written as a script, but actually tells a real story. But the rate of people dying so much... wow(makes it a little bit like Harry Potter, right). But that's a good thing, because I didn't expect that... Caught me a little bit off guard :D Oh well, carry on :)
