after 13 years of lying to her son, Lyra is forced to tell her son the truth of his real father after Zane shows up during the summer, Cory,so hurt, plans to move in with his father, because he didnt lie to him,but the truth quickly reveals itself once more as Zane's true nature is revealed, Cory is then forced to choose between his mother and the man who has raised him or his real father and a not-so-nice stepmother.

"Mum? you havent seen my shoes any where have you?" Cory asked checking under the sofa

Lyra nearly jumped out of her skin,she'd been washing the dishes and staring out the window, Cory's voice had deepened over the summer, causing the twins to giggle every time he spoke and causing Lyra to panic....as she thought Zane was in the room with her, Cory had his voice."No Cory."

 

"Last I saw of them they were in that hell pit you call a bedroom." Casey butted in from his seat on the sofa. He, as was usual these days, had his head buried in a medical journal.

Immy was sat quietly on the end of the same sofa as Casey, she was holding her toy dog tightly as she always did. It was like a security blanket for her, made her less terrified of everyone around her.

 

"Oh....yeah I remeber."he said jumping up and sprinting up the stairs

"His voice is still funny"Maddie giggled"when's it going to go normal?"


"Its not stupid! "Mickey said "Cory's changing....going from child to teenager....uncle Jordan called it puberty...."

 

"It'll happen to you two too in time." Casey chuckled slightly as he turned the page over. "Personally I'm glad I'm through it. It sucks."

 

"I dont want to have a deep voice!"Maddie said

"You wont....you'll-"

"Michael! who told you all of this?"

"Uncle Jordan...."

"Im gonna need to talk to him..."

 

"Well they were going to find out at some point Lyra." Casey said, closing his book and resigning to the fact he probably wouldn't get the chance to finish it. "If they were in the muggle education system they'd know everything before they were even in double digits of age."

 

"I just dont want my son telling his sister that she'll...have a bad week at a certain age."

"what?"Maddie said

"Your gonna need to tell her Mum...she wont let it go untill you do..."Cory said coming back down

Lyra sighed

 

"Maddie: When you get to a certain, I can't say exactly what age because there isn't an exact age you're going to have something called a period. It's painful and bloody but it only lasts a couple of days to a week. You'll get used to it. That answer your question?" Casey explained casually, he had no problems talking about anything like that. To him it was just a part of life, and as a doctor and a guy with more female friends then male it was something he frequently had to discuss.

 

"It hurts?"


Cory burst out laughing "Nice one dad...you could've explained it nicer."

"No no....Maddie its cramp...its ok."

 

"Because it's so easy to glamorise bleeding." Casey snorted. "You'll be fine Maddie, your mum manages it, and Elle, and both your grandmas."

 

"I dont want it!"


"Dont worry sweetie....I wouldnt expect it to happen for awhile."

 

"Anyway, why were you looking for your shoes Cory? You going somewhere?"

 

"Yep..Carrie wants me to meet her somewhere...I dunno why...something about a present for Scottie."he rolled his eyes

 

"Ahh, fun times for you then." Casey said, slowly opening his book up again.

 

"Tell me about it."


"Dont stay out too late Cory..."


Cory rolled his eyes "Yes Mummy..."he laughed"I'll be 14 in december....you gotta stop babying me....let me come home when ever I want."


"And I suppose you want me to let you come home drunk and high?"

 

"Cory, be back by dinner or call if you're going to be out later. But no later then eight, okay?" Casey said, not looking up from his book again. He was trying to put a reasonable and slightly flexible curfew, whether or not it'd work is a totally different matter.
