Shetty children's toy instrumental versions of popular songs from the 80/90s used in commercials.

Can we stop this before it becomes a bigger thing?

If you haven't seen it yet consider yourself lucky.

So Far I've heard an all bells version of "sweet child o mine"
Another song done on plastic instruments I don't remember but I think it was from, like, Van Halen or some shet.
And the plastic remix I just heard before making this thread was "Under Pressure".

    This needs to stop.

The only way it would be okay is if it showed actual children playing the songs, then it would be cute, but all I can do is imagine some neckbeard in a studio, with MLP rule34 plastered all over his cubicle walls, crapping out these songs with a midi keyboard set to "annoy the shet out of your parents".

The answer to your problem is rather simple. It all boils down to marketing. See, the generation that grew up hearing those songs are now settling down and having families of their own.

Set the Wayback Machine to 1981. Sure, I wasn't born yet[gasp. But 5 years too early, folks.]. But there were teens listening to music like Under Pressure. Fast forward to 2013 and those teens have families of their own. Kids of school age needing school supplies. And companies like Crayola and Bic just see dollar signs when someone in marketing comes up with the radical notion to cash in on the nostalgia factor we are so susceptible to.

    It happens all the time.

While I find your post quite astute and informative, and I know that the easiest thing to do is just change the channel or not watch TV in the first place, I must call you names and pretend you're wrong, because this is the internet.
