Dylan nodded at her response, and carried on. The stairs softly creaked as he stepped down them, and he approached he was able to see the two mages' auras through the walls. He'd worked out a long time ago the limits to his sight, wood didn't block it, stone and metal diminished it slightly, but the most important aspect was the distance he was from them. About fifteen metres was enough to make sure he could no longer see an aura, but he would still be able to see the flow of magic that it caused. Dylan reached the bottom stair and walked into the kitchen, to find Kara had brought back groceries like he'd asked, and Zephyr looking at his books. As usual, the first thing he noticed was the aura. To Dylan's eyes, Zephyr was outlined in a blazing inferno. luminescent magic seemed to be coming from within him, it was bursting to be released from beneath his skin, and his eyes flared with fiery intensity. When Dylan looked his Kara his vision wavered slightly. Her own magical abilities distorted his ability to see the girl's aura, but he was usually able to see bright blue magic surrounding and emanating from her, with the occasional rune wavering into existence around her. Dylan neglected any sort of greetings and immediately introduced his employees. "This is Kara Webb and Zephyr Siegend" He gestured towards the two "Guys, this is Mirabelle Autumnfield, our newest recruit... Kara there is no way you managed to get all that with the money I gave you" he stated, staring at the bags of groceries with suspicion.

Mortimer smiled as the statement of his identity shocked the young girl "You are too modest dear girl. The very fact that you achieved all this without formal training or education is... remarkable" Lord Gallahowe stated. "I have seen enough of your work, I can tell that with some more education and finesse, you could become an even greater mechanic than I" he assured the young woman as he sipped at the tea "You have so much time, so many things to learn. I look forward to seeing what you'll do in future" Mortimer stood, taking the tea with him "Unfortunately I am pressed for time, but our group meet tonight at this address" Mortimer said as he pulled out a piece of paper. The tip of his index finger on his right hand became a fountain pen, and he scribbled down an address, before handing the paper to the young girl "Good day to you young miss, I hope to see you this evening" He tipped his hat to her, before turning to walk out of the door.

"Well if you want to be technical, you could say I did have some sort of formal training. I mean I did work for a man back in New Haven from the time I was 15, until I opened my shop here at 23. He was a great engineer himself, taught me all I know." Mirela stated proud of her old tutor/employer. For a moment when she spoke about him, she forgot about who she was talking to. Looking up again, seeing Mortimers face, reminded her and she blushed slightly. "I mean it is nothing compared to your training, but I can't take all the credit in the end." Mirela said with a slight nervous giggle. "D-do you really think I could be that great? One day people will actually know my name?" Mirela asked not sure how to react to the compliments.

Soon the man said he had to go and handed her an address. Taking it she bowed to him once more.
"Thank you, I will be there." She told him and watched him leave before opening her work table again so that she could set to work. Mirela was too flustered and excited though to focus on her work however as she stepped out of her shop and started dancing in the streets, disregarding all the odd stares she got as she danced and hummed in front of her store until Flicka returned with the note saying that her supplies would be brought over shortly.

Kara took a deep breath as she heard footsteps. Show time. Keep your game face. Game. Face. Turning to face Stardust, Kara's resolve held out for five seconds before she burst into giggles. Covering her mouth with her human hand, she executed a small curtsy to Miribelle, who was absolutely adorable. "You better hope this one knows how to laugh, Stardust. Because any more lacking in the humor department and I might wither away from sheer sadness. No one appreciates me here." Winking at Miribelle, she walked up to the girl, tilting her head as she studied her.

    Turning to
Dylan, Kara walked up to him and peered into his face. "So, funny story about that is, I have a nice smile. Beautiful, stunning in fact. That's what the man said, and I'll remember it for the rest of my life!" Turning away, she went back towards the bag, rifling through to pull out a can of chicken, or tuna? Who cared? "It was so nice, in fact, so fantastic a grin, that he gave all of this to me for nothing other than a promise to return to him with more smiles. How could I do anything but refuse?" And there had gone her chance to tell the truth. It was more fun this way, and Stardust wouldn't care. Kara doubted he noticed her existence, unless she was switching out the hair wash for chlorine in an attempt to change his hair color. Tossing the can towards Stardust with the hope that it would hit him in his suspicious, fun-sucking face, Kara turned back to Miribelle. "Now, he might have accepted you, but before I do, there is one imperative question you must answer." Tucking a lock of purple hair behind her ear, her face went dead serious. "What kind of pen, is the best pen?"

Jebediah found himself stood before the ramshackled building that was Hythem investigations, a train wizzed past on the overpass and he could swear he saw it shake, this suprised Jebediah to some degree as he has worked with Dylan before allowing him to survey crime scenes and always seemed to muster impressive results, he didn't however respect Dylan's insistence on working outside the constabulary, there was no reason for it in Jebediah's eyes, just yet another step to take in getting a problem sorted. Due to this, with respect and caution in tow, he walked up to the old rotting door and knocked "Hello, I'm Sargent Crowne, I'm looking for Kara Webb?" He muttered to himself awaiting an answer.

Ulrich studied the expression of the golem in front of him, it was a habbit that brought him nowhere as the golems expression wouldn't change.
He was taken by surprise when Lynda spoke up about the golem in front of him who turned out to be an acquaintance who she introduced to both himself, Lucian and Johnson.
Ulrich extended a hand to the construct "
Well met, Aspire, I am constable Ulrich, pleased to make your acquaintence." Ulrich noticed that Lucian was going ahead and get some work in. Meanwhile Ulrich decided to see what insight this Golem could provide on the scene before them. The clockwork golem explained them that the minister had been escorted out as was a woman. Ulrich had taken notice of the latter woman being escorted out but hadn't seen the minister, must have slipped his attention. Ulrich went over the new information in his head and was rather curious about Lynda's verdict on the presence of the golem, whether he was allowed to stay or not. The machines intrigued him, they were a marvel of magic and technology and he was impressed by the way the creatures were able to make them individuals, it was just such an amazing feat, part of him hoped the golem was allowed to tag along. Ulrich knew they were here for a job and as much as he would have wanted to get to know the Golem it would have to wait. He went over to one of the Royal guard around the plaza. "Greetings, I'm constable Ulrich Haltzenor, could you please show me the crime scene and give me a rundown of the incident if possible or point me in the direction of someone who could tell me what happened." Ulrich said, showing his badge.

Lynda listened carefully as her former acquaintance explained the situation. He gave an accurate report of the specifics of the situation, she wouldn't expect anything less of the golem. However, he was less able to gauge the more personal things about the scene. Aspire wouldn't necessarily note how warily the guards treated the harmless-looking minister in handcuffs, which Lynda instantly found suspicious "Yes, well the Royal Guard are quite a paranoid bunch. Comes with the job" She told the golem. "Also it's not 'Sheriff' Lynda anymore, I gave that job up to try and... what is Constable Thistle doing?" Lynda asked rhetorically, she trailed off at the end of the conversation as she noticed how Lucian had strode up to the Royal Guard.

    Dragoncrest Plaza
    Royal Guards - Lucian

As Lucian confronted the guards who lead Lilian Harbrook out of the ministry, the ones at the front brought up their guns menacingly. The Royal Guard Captain, who'd already been having a bad day, rushed over "Woah woah, constable, you can't just run in here! Who's your superior officer?"

    Royal Guard - Ulrich
Ulrich got a much better response. The Royal Guards liked being treated with respect. The man nodded "We've been expecting you lot to turn up" He stated. As he began the explanation a grave expression showed on his face. "It was more than a murder, it was a massacre. Five people dead. Three ministers and two Royal Guard. It was during a meeting or something. Doors and windows all locked. Nobody could get in or out without keys. First thing we heard was the screaming, and as we arrived at the scene we found fleeing ministers, and standing in the middle of it all was her" he pointed at the woman in handcuffs "Lilian Harbrook. Minister of something or another. Holding a Royal Guard's pistol, and covered in blood"

Mira followed Dylan through the building, very conscious of the creaking of the stairs and the general poor quality of the building. While she was not exactly thrilled at the thought of having to be in this building, she held out hope that there was a room that she could turn into her office and make it a little more... Tasteful. They entered into the kitchen, where she found two others. These were her new colleagues. Kara Webb and Zephyr Siegend. The surname sounded a little like a Whytehold name though he lacked the look. Her immediate thought of Kara was that the girl was rather pretty. Very Pretty. And she could curtsy, a gesture that Mira returned with a warm smile. She spotted the clockwork arm on her left. How cute, they shared clockwork limbs on the same side. Perhaps there was hope for Haytham's Investigations. Except for the fact that she probably committed minor larceny by stealing food... Kara was a difficult one, but she had little more time for thought as the girl came straight up to her and winked mischievously. Mira surreptitiously winked back. Oh, she was going to have fun.

"That is simply tragic. I cannot for the life of me see why it is so." Mira replied, before seeing what this interesting woman would do. She paraded around the room, pretending that she had definitely not stolen. She sighed. Part of her was severely disappointed, but another side... Another side decided that it was nothing to be concerned about. She was here to solve more serious problems than theft. So long as it remained petty, she could turn a blind eye. Then the spotlight was back on her, as the girl approached once again as a force of nature to ask about... Pens. She was odd company. But she could forgive the oddities. They made her interesting, and she liked to cultivate a crowd of interesting people. There was nothing worse than someone dull. "The humble fountain pen. Complex, yet simple and above all, elegant." She reached into her an interior pocket of her jacket at she spoke, retrieving a slender silver pen with gold vinework winding its way across the device. At the top, the Autumnfield crest was rendered as a show of pride. She twirled it between two fingers and stowed it away again out of reach.
"If you ask nicely I might let you have a closer look." She said somewhat suggestively. Once she was done with Kara, she could take a measure of Zephyr. However, there was a knock at the door. Another applicant perhaps? She would leave that to Dylan. She had introductions to make.

"My pleasure, Constable Ulrich." Aspire responded, using what he believed to be a common response to an introduction. This officer had more time for him than the other, but not much more. He moved on. "Have a pleasant day." The Golem judged it appropriate to offer a benediction since they had conversed, unlike the other one.
"My apologies Constable Lynda. Is this title correct?" Aspire rumbled. This seemed obvious. Cities did not have Sheriffs, they had Constables. When they first met, Aspire had called her a Constable as he had assumed that Frontier Towns worked the same way as cities. They did not. They had Sheriffs. This meant that, logically, Lynda would be a constable unless she was of a higher rank. Was she perhaps a Sergeant or Captain? Then, her attention was directed to one of her companions. An analysis of the situation revealed that the man he had spoken to earlier had taken issue with Lynda's associate. "My analysis of the situation suggests that Constable Thistle has attracted the attention of the man who threatened me. I predict that you may have what you call 'Trouble' shortly." Aspire examined Constable Ulrich. He saw less hostility there.
"I believe that Constable Ulrich's discourse is more constructive. I expect that intervention will not be necessary." He added, attempting to be helpful. If Lynda's attention could be focused on the matter of Constable Thistle then there was a greater chance that the situation would be resolved. Divided attention led to overall less efficacy.

A newcomer had been the new voice that he had heard upon his return. Having another person around would be helpful at times given how few of them that they currently had. There was nothing much for him to not about her at first glance, outside of her attire. Compared to what it was that he currently wore it was a step above for sure. Initial impressions were good so far, she hadn't done anything that gave him any negative vibes or anything to those nature.

"The more the merrier I suppose." Was the best that he could come up with in when it came down to a greeting of sorts, though what he said probably didn't even count as a greeting. By his standards it was close enough and that was the important fact. Perhaps he would come up with something else to say while she was conversing with Kara. Elsewhere there had been a knock on the door. Was someone else going to apply or was there something needed of them? Zephyr would find out when someone, probably Dylan, opened the door.

    "Good morning Miss Hyden"
"And a fine morning it is Arabella" Iris replied to her secretary who was waiting in the lobby when she arrived. The Avant building was a sleek, square building raising 10 stories into the sky. It was a piece of cutting edge art-deco architecture adorned with many windows and a large luminous sign upon the roofs edge. The lobby consumed most of the first and second floor. A spacious, white atrium adorned in gold with a balcony encircling it on the second floor and a Brass mural to human enhancement upon the back wall. Arabella stood, as she always did in the morning, near the reception desk. Dressed in her navy blue suit and brandishing a clip board. She looked out with her glassy augmented eyes, set just below a porcelain-like implant upon her forehead which dipped from the corners, meeting just above the centre of her brow. The augmentations were some of the best Avant had to offer, a benefit that all Iris' staff enjoyed.
"I hope I haven't kept you waiting too long" Iris continued as they made their way to one of the three shuttered lifts at the back of the lobby.
    "No, not at all Miss"
"So give me the run down, what are we dealing with today?"

As they proceeded up the lift towards Iris' office on the top floor, Arabella rattled off yesterdays reports not looking once at the clipboard, for her augments granted her an eidetic memory. A few items Iris took note of was the fact that augmentation sales to the middle class had risen since Avant had introduced their budget range, Kerrington technologies were filing for more augmentation patents and the company would need to move quickly to stay in the running and finally the marketing department were complaining about getting their budget cut.
    To this she replied
"Well when they start getting results, I'll consider upping their funding, how much does it cost to draw things?"

Eventually the pair departed the lift onto the top floor. Here resided
Arabella's office which lead into Iris' office on the right and a boardroom on the left. This room, adorned in elegant baroque-style furnishings, served as an executive lobby, the walls being lined with sofas and adorned with various pieces of artwork Iris had commissioned to represent the bond between humanity and technology that augments provide. They ranged from portraits to more abstract pieces and in her opinion were quite thought provoking.
"Your chosen papers are on your desk alongside all the reports for you to review." Arabella said walking behind her desk "Also you have a meeting with the constabulary in a few hours and your scheduled in for lunch with Juliet straight afterwards. After that your calendars free, but the research labs would like your input on project dream-state."
"Thank you Arabella. Can you call Dr. Carmichael to inform him I'll be heading down to do the final tests on those constabulary augments, we completed last night, once I've settled in?"
    "Will do miss"
    "Thanks"

    With that
Iris entered her office. It shared the baroque style of Arabella's but as opposed to the dark grey walls of hers, Iris' had light cream wallpaper and was made even lighter by the large window that ran along the back wall. The room ran the width of the building, overlooking the canal towards the house of music. and was split down the middle by a partition which when folded out looked no different than a normal wall. In this half sat her office space and in the other half was a workshop where she'd often tinker when not attending to duties downstairs. Iris sat at her desk and scanned through the morning papers. The Westwood Informer had a story about the completion of Saviour Spire on the front page, she thought it was quite an amazing building to be certain, Avant was testament to her fondness of modern architecture. They also covered an article on the events currently going on in the ministry, Draycaster was still under fire from opposition, Iris hoped that her situation may improve as she was one of the best politicians this city had seen. Oddly there was also an advert for a private investigation agency, a peculiar thing to appear on the front page of an elitist paper such as the Informer. The Gallows Gazette had much the same to report but everything was spun the other way and then the smaller local papers all had their little titbits on city life. Turning to the pile of reports on her right Iris sighed and decided it could wait. This constabulary deal required all her attention at the moment, it could really aid the companies public standing as well as provide citizens with the protection they needed.

With that she went over to her workshop and unlocked a large cabinet, inside there were a number of shelves only one of which currently held anything. Two metal cylinders, about the length between an outstretched index finger and thumb, sat on stands on the top shelf. Each had a glowing crystal held inside.
Iris took the one on the left which glowed with a fluctuating clear aura, that seemed to distort everything, and raised her left arm. Two panels, which were almost seamless, folded out wing-like from her forearm and she inserted the crystal into the opening. Closing the augment she then made her way to the lift and down to the workshop floor.

Iris' meeting with Dr Carmichael was brief, they had a quick look over the new blue and gunmetal grey augments they had designed to pitch to the constabulary. The augments consisted of a sleek, yet functional arm augmentation, which could have alterations made to allow for additional armour, wrist mounted weapons or other tactical benefits; an augmentation fitted to the collar bone which could quickly extend a collapsed piece of metal up around the users face to protect from attack and leg augmentations which utilised top of the line gyroscopic mechanisms to provide enhanced agility. With these in tow Iris and Carmichael made their way to her carriage where they began their trip across the city to the constabulary headquarters. On the way Iris considered whether she should buy a motor car and decided that this afternoon she would check her accounts and look over possible options.

Eventually the carriage parked up in the square outside North Constable Station where the grand statue of General Talon Austermark loomed over. A symbol of justice through the law, the irony being that he was executed at the hand of that same system.
Dr. Carmichael helped carry the suitcase of augments into the building where they were met by a receptionist.
"Iris Hyden, nice to make your acquaintance." Iris said with a smile "We're here for a meeting concerning a potential supply deal, I'd arranged it on the telephone with a Lynda Rochester."

Lucian scoffed as the guard responded to him. He clearly was not impressed with this situation at all. Crossing his hands across his chest he stared down the guard. "My superior officer? You mean the lady that would rather catch up with an old friend then actually do her job? She is over there, deal with her as you will. That being said I figured there was more important business than a clock golem, I didn't think it would be a problem taking matters into my own hands and you know, doing my job. So let me ask you again, what happened here? It isn't like I am asking much. I am not asking you to let your suspect go or anything, I just want to know what is going on so that I could do my job. That being said if someone was going to attack the Minister I am sure they would be trained enough not to get caught off the bat. That probably isn't your person, or they are the dumbest person in the world." Lucian said with a roll of his eyes. If his question wasn't answered this time, there could be problems. Lucian was quickly running out of patience as his hand twitched back to his sword, though he resisted the urge to start a big fight here. Instead he just stared down at the guard.

Rigel watched the confusion with a wary, yet tired eye. In a perfect world, the people would be working together to protect each other, keep themselves safe and solve the problem. What he saw was the opposite of cohesion, and it couldn't help but frustrate him. Glancing around to try and get a full view of what was going on, Rigel caught sight of someone in very distinctive hair belligerently arguing with a Royal Guard. His brow furrowing, he started towards the pair.

Rigel didn't want to start a conflict in the middle of a square, but this
man was showing no signs of backing down, and Rigel got the vague idea that any attempts to persuade the man to back off would only escalate the matter. No, it was safer for everyone around if Rigel just got...how did they say it? Down and filthy, or something? Mentally shrugging, he wiped all emotional expression off his face, before raising his voice to be heard above the crowd. "Hey! You need to respect the Guard!" He yelled as he clenched his fist and brought it back, aiming for Lucian's nipple face.

"Nobody here lacks humour, Kara, it's just that yours is exceedingly difficult to understand at times" Dylan shook his head as he spoke. The detective didn't respond to Kara's lie, except for with a disbelieving glance, but he did reach into the bag. He pulled out an apple, she'd bought a lot of apples. He sighed inwardly as he analysed how much of the food was actual meals. Paying some attention to the conversation going on, he noted Kara's
flirtatiousness, and how Mirabelle didn't seem put off by it. Interesting. Zephyr wasn't contributing much, Dylan got the impression that the younger man preferred to pay attention to what others said. It was a good trait for a detective. As Kara tossed a can his way he swiftly grabbed it out of the air with one hand, and had a look at the label. Chicken. Well, it was something. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Dylan looked up immediately, and placed the can and apple back in the bag. The person at the door wasn't a mage, but they did have an arcane magical item on them. He looked back at the two women with a stern expression
"Hey, I don't mind you two being flirty, but not in front of random strangers, okay?" He admonished as he stepped towards the door. Opening the door, he found himself face to face with an officer of the constabulary, and his eyes quickly sweeped the man. Mainly the magical sword at his hip, which appeared to have anti-magical properties to Dylan's vision, as its blue aura flashed and runes wavered around it. The man was older than him, though not by much, appeared to have clockwork augmentations around his legs, and was a sergeant of the constabulary. This was also revealed to him as the man spoke. "Kara Webb you say?" Dylan replied with an unreadable expression. If a police officer was looking for Kara, it probably wasn't for a useful reason. In his mind Dylan weighed up the options quickly. "I might have heard of her, what's she done?"

"Officer Rochester would be more appropriate" she noted, half paying attention to Aspire, and half paying attention to Lucian's antics "But most people just call me Lynda" she paused, remembering the strange technicalities that the golem seemed to be affected by "That means you can as well. Now I'd better sort out this situation with Constable Thistle. I fear you're correct about the trouble, so I'd like you by my side, if you would"

Dragoncrest Plaza - Royal Guards, Lucian
The captain glared at the meddling constable with fury "I don't like your attitude, and I'm not a fucking complaints box! This is an incredibly sensitive situation, this woman killed five people, and you just stroll up full of demands?

As Lynda approached she could hear the heated argument. Lucian being his usual antagonistic self, in front of four guards with submachine guns. Was there no end to this man's stupidity? It was one thing trying to get information, it was quite another to act so disrespectfully to those who had the information. This was not the proper way to gather a report. Suddenly, a third party intruded, and attacked the unruly constable "Careful Lucian!" she yelled with concern.

    Constabulary HQ - Penelope, Iris
"Lovely to meet you Miss Hyden" The friendly receptionist answered "I'm afraid Officer Rochester is out right now, dealing with an emergency at the Ministry. You can wait here if you want, or speak to one of our other administrative officers?"

"...You can wait here if you want, or speak to one of our other administrative officers?" The receptionist finished.
It would of been easier if Officer Rochester was available, but it could be understood; being an officer meant she might be called out at any moment.
Iris looked at the underside of her left wrist and two panels folded away neatly to reveal a circular recess in which was a watch. The thin dainty hands displayed that it was just past noon and, not wishing to disrupt her schedule, Iris figured a meeting with another administrator would be just as beneficial. Besides she had little patience to wait in the reception when good work could be getting done.
"This an important proposal that could provide many benefits to the force, would it please be possible to find another administrator who could give us their time?" She replied sweetly, but with a touch of insistence.

Lucian could see as the anger in the guard he was talking to, rose at a similar rate to his own temper. He scowled at the guard, ready to give up when Lucian caught the sound of a footstep behind him, then a voice. Turning he saw a man trying to punch him as Lynda yelled at him to be careful. Even though Lucian spent half his time drunk, he actually did train during his spare time. His reflexes were on par, and that is why when he turned and he saw the man winding up to hit him, Lucian was not only able to block the attack but catch the mans fist and hold it for a moment, staring him down. "Funny for you to talk about respect. Punching a constable is not respectful yourself. Now I would suggest that you leave before I decide to arrest you for assaulting an officer." Lucian warned not letting the man go until he agreed to leave the area. "As the fine guard said, this is a sensitive situation, you can't be here." Lucian stated sternly hoping that the man would get the picture. Though if he didn't, well it would be fun to get into another fight.

Finishing her little happy dance, Mirela returned to her shop and looked at her project. Well she couldn't keep working on that until her parts arrived, which should be later that day. Until then Mirela didn't know what to do with herself. Pacing around her shop a little bit she looked around to see what other project she had going. There were quite a few projects that she hadn't finished yet, put down and just got bored with. Picking up one of them, she turned the knob and some off kilter notes started to play. She had wanted it to sound like the contraption she had on her wall, full of music, but she couldn't get the sound right. Sighing she put it back down to see an old man in the door.

"Oh! Mister Micheals, there you are. Have a seat, have a seat, let me see." Mirela insisted waving at the chair still set up from the meeting with the man earlier. Switching out her regular hand for her tools she knelt in front of him and started to work on his knees. "Oh, Mister Micheals, you won't believe who was in my shop today! It was amazing. You know Mister Gallahowe? He owns that electric company, it is amazing! He wants me to join him in this order thing!" Mirela explained excitedly. "Oh wait, maybe that was supposed to be a secret. I don't know. Just don't tell anyone okay?" She rambled on to the old man hoping that he would keep quiet about it.

Kara grinned at Miribelle, sensing that behind the exterior might lie someone more fun. Oh this could be her savior in this darkened place of despair and humourless soul sucking heroes. Kara's thinking was momentarily stalled by Miribelle's pen, waving in the air in front of her face. Her light colored eyes widened, pupils following the ornate instrument as it moved back and forth like a pendulum. By every god in human imagination.....Miribelle made to stow it, teasing that Kara might get a closer look now. Oh hell no. Her clockwork arm reached out and snatched the beautiful item from Miribelle's hands, pulling it to her face so she could look now. "I've never been one for foreplay when there's much more interesting things underneath." A smirk played along her lips as she examined the crest, the fine craftsmenship, before holding the pen back out to Miribelle. At Dylan's accusation of flirtation, she winked at Miribelle before sticking her tongue out at Dylan and sashaying over to Zephyr as he walked to the door. "Jealousy doesn't look good on you, Stardust."

    Grabbing a wisp of
Zephyr's hair, she leaned on his shoulder as she played with the strands with her human fingers, one ear listening to the door with half interest as she stared at Miribelle with a raised eyebrow. "So what brought such a lovely lady to our home of mold and soulessness?" Her ears perked at the sound of her name, and without missing a beat she leaned towards Zephyr. "Hey Blondie, I think Stardust could use a hand to hold at the door. You know how he gets with strangers. He can't remove the stick from his ass on his own."

Rigel heard someone shouting in the background, but his attention didn't waiver from the red haired gentleman in front of him. Who, disappointingly enough, was quicker and managed to stop his fist from hitting his face. Rigel sighed inwardly, knowing that he had never been much of a fighter, but still minorly disappointed. The name of the Constabulary didn't invoke fear in him, as this man thought it should. "You get a lot of pleasure from being a bully? Perhaps the poor name the Constabulary drags around is solely from your lack of dignity and respect. You should leave these men to their duty, Officer. They clearly know the law better than yourself." The words poured out faster than Rigel could stop them; perhaps after not speaking to other people for so long he had found a release.

How it would turn out, well Rigel hadn't thought that through. But he hoped the
man would listen to his words, or at least that they would make some sort of impression in his mind.

Jebediah sized Dylan up accordingly, this wasn't the first time they'd met, well... not for Jebediah anyway, he figured Dylan would just see him as yet another officer but Jebediah always noticed the man wondering around following invisible trails no one else could see, it was remarkable and his work was honestly admirable for an amateur; and he respected that, Although there was one thing that shattered that respect, why freelance? he could do just as much if not more working for the constabulary! To Jebediah it was selfish to keep talents such as his behind fees, he could really help people yet seemingly chooses to help himself first.
"Hello, I'm Sargent Crowne of Eredan Police, I'm looking for a miss Kara Webb?" Jebediah asked keenly, he noticed one thing in the brief half second that was before Dylan's reply, he was fast thinking, even faster then himself "Bugger" He thought as he tried to read the man.
"Kara Webb you say?" Dylan remarked
This set Jebediah off, he knew Dylan would have heard him and wouldn't be confused, this was a classic gang tactic to proclaim a name asked for loudly allowing the person in question to be alerted "I might have heard of her, what's she done?"
Jebediah raised his eyebrows and looked condescendingly at Dylan for a moment "Well nothing yet..." he said before pulling the file from his belt, uncoiling it to show to Dylan the case file title "I'm here to ask questions about her Aunties death" Jebediah commented "I'd also appreciate if you could arrange a private room for me and her to have a chat about it here, it's a long walk back to the station I've already done it twice today" Jebediah smiled as he put the folder back on his belt and took a single step towards the door "Oh, and just incase it wen't over your head... I know she works here."

As he thought Dylan would be the one to go open the door and Zephyr briefly caught a glimpse of who it was at the door right as his attention was drawn towards something much more puzzling. At first Zephyr thought nothing about Kara walking towards him and at the time why should he? He figured he just happened to be in the way of the general direction she was going. Her playing with his hair however very quickly broke mold that he wore on his observative face.

The blush on his face was a clear indication of that, but it was added by the fact that his body went as stiff as a board. Even if he wasn’t inept at speaking with people, this was not a case where that matter cause it would not help with his lack of skills when it came to women. This was only short lasted for him due to Kara’s request. “R-right.” Now he could work on regaining his composure as he walked up to the door. He stood next to Dylan right as he heard what the guy wanted. “Usually random people don’t come up and ask about those kinds of things and even then it’s still pretty personal.”

There were things that she had expected out of the agency, and things she had not. So far, the morning fell into the latter category. Dylan never missed a beat with any of the things that Kara both metaphorically and literally threw a him. She could see how she might be a tad difficult to handle. She was confident that this would not be a problem for her though. She had met difficult people before. And at least she was interesting. Mira did not foresee herself getting bored here. There were however, more present concerns. Namely that her pen had been snatched. She made to object, but the item was quickly returned after an examination.
"Do you like what you see?" Mira quipped back at the other woman as she took the pen back with her own clockwork arm, deliberately allowing her fingers to brush against the other girl's. She was curious as to whether Kara would notice that one arm was not flesh and blood. Such fancy could not continue on though, as Dylan did step in. Part of her wished to object, but he was her employer. "Very well." Although he said nothing about flirting out of the earshot of 'random people'. The cyclone of chaos that was Kara swaggered over to Zephyr and began toying with his hair without a care in the world. Mira smiled, despite herself. The scene was ridiculous when contrasted with the situation outside. Her position near the entrance of the room allowed her to eavesdrop more easily. There was an officer looking for Kara, but why she missed as a question was posed to her. The noblewoman leaned against the inside of the door frame, placing herself in the way of any entrance to the room with her cane in front of her and both hands resting upon it.
"I have yet to see the mould, and I would be hesitant to call this place soulless." Mira replied. She tapped the rose atop her cane as she talked. "But since you asked, I joined because I want to make a difference. I would like to see affairs in the city get better, and I think I would be of more help here than at the frankly stagnant constabulary." She allowed Zephyr past as she spoke so that he could help deal with the officer and placed herself back in the doorframe.
"And what inspired a free spirit such as yourself to join this agency?" Mira asked curiously, meeting Kara's gaze.

"Very well Lynda. It is a pleasure to help." Aspire remained by Lynda's side for now, logging her official title of Officer Rochester for future use when it seemed appropriate. The situation with Constable Thistle appeared to have escalated, with a stranger interfering and yelling at the policeman. From what he could tell, this stranger did not believe that Constable Thistle was an appropriate officer of the Law. The golem could neither confirm nor deny this due to a particular lack of information. What was immediately apparent to him however, was that there were signs of an altercation occurring with several armed men. He considered his choices here. Lynda was staying back for now. The submachine-gunners had not yet intervened but he suspected that it was only a matter of time. What should he do?

Freedom. Individuality. Community. Greater good. Autonomy. Justice. Self-expression. Selfishness and selflessness. Altruism. Concepts, ideals, pillars of societies he had observed. How to synthesise these into action...? He considered. Consequences. Likelihood of experiencing violence directed at him? Likelihood of third party experiencing violence? Morality of third party's actions?

"I recommend an intervention before that man is shot. I do not have the jurisdiction to act alone in this instance." Aspire decided. He would take a half-measure. To act against the police was a crime. He could avoid this by having a police officer intervene in line with his objectives. By encouraging action from inside the system he could avoid conflict. Arrest may be necessary. This was preferable to death.

Dylan stared at the policeman expressionlessly as the man spoke. He'd seen this particular officer before, he was one of the meddlesome ones. Dylan noticed Zephyr's presence alongside him, and let the younger man speak first, while Dylan analysed the policeman. He seemed sincere, but Dylan still didn't want to let him anywhere near his employees. The police couldn't be trusted, if they weren't corrupt then they followed the law too much. "But this is not just a random stranger, Zephyr. This is a policeman" Dylan stated with a hint of bitterness, still staring unblinkingly Sergeant Crowne "Kara does work here, but I don't think she's in right now. Enjoy your walk" Dylan began to close the door.

"If only more people understood their jurisdiction as much as you" Lynda muttered to Aspire, before striding forwards "And I know the law better than both of you" Lynda interjected, walking in between Lucian and the stranger. Men, honestly. First, she eyed the newcomer "You. I'm not going to arrest you as long as you get away from here. It is my job to deal with unruly constables, not yours" She said, her tone being both strict and reassuring. She turned around on the spot to face Lucian "And you" she scowled and grabbed his arm, trying to pull him back "Get out of the way of these guards"

    Dragoncrest Plaza
All of a sudden, the woman being borne forward by the guards looked up. Her cheeks had tears running down them and her eyes showed sadness and confusion "I had no control! I couldn't stop! I swear I-" She was cut off as a guard struck her in the side of the head with the butt of his gun.

Ulrich had a lot more luck as the Royal guard was quite cooperative. It probably helped that Ulrich was polite about asking his questions, they were in a way collegues so there was no reason for hostility and Ulrich had learned that one would catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. He listened attentively as to what had taken place within the Parliament. This was indeed a massacre as the Royal guardsman explained it 5 people dead in seconds. A Minister overpowering Royal Guard, not just one but two before they could react even having their weapons? This seemed very unikely. This was a rather strange case they had found themselves in. "Thank you for the information, now if I might ask some more questions what can you tell me about the meeting room, was it warded against magic? And could you perchance show me this meeting room?" Ulrich asked continuing the friendly tone. He heard a bit of a racket behind him and he only shot a glance over and wasn't surprised to find Constable Thistle responsible for it. Lynda would probably take care of it. Waiting for the answer he heard the woman cry out she had no control over it. Hmmm, possibly magic, but maybe it was affliction of the mind, this case was going to be quite the interesting one.
