The Sanctuary

Eva was going to move back, but something went wrong. She tripped over the tail, smacking her head against the wall. Looking up, her predator's eyes zoomed in on the persn hanging above the roof. Larenzo. Trying to stand up, she realized she had human legs. Oh damn. Concentrating, pushing back the fear, she shifted back into panther, ridding herself of the wings. Except now she had a paw to limp around on. Life was insane.

 

Tilting his head towards the sky, Larenzo smiled as he closed his eyes. "Yes, yes it was. Come on now." he said, getting backup onto his feet. "Let's go find Rea and the others. I think we'll finally get to see our show."

 

Leon crouched next to Rei and took out a piece of cloth from his pocket, it was from some of his ruined clothes in his rented room. He wrapped it around the cut and stood up offering his hand to help Rei stand, "We should get back to the room, I might be able to wrap up that cut better for a while", he stated.

 

Rei remained still while Leon bandaged her injury. She was genuinely surprised, and took his hand and stood up.
"Alright...and...thank you," she said to him.

 

Leon guided himself and Rei back to the hotel where he had a room. As he entered he turned to Rei, "Would it of been better if I had fought back there?", he asked with a serious look in his eyes like that of an eagle's.

 

She was pissed. She wasn't going to lie, she was pissed. Limping away from the alley, grumbling to herself, she made her way back to the house. Sure, Larenzo and Drake were maniacs, running around with a strange girl and up to god knew what, but he didn't have to risk his own sanity to try and hunt down his son. She had thought they were past all that.

All she had wanted was to be a shifter like before, make it as effortless as it had been. How could it be so hard now? Victor wasn't making it easier....She left her form go as soon as she was in the house, and wrapped herself up in her blanket, collapsing onto the bed into sleep. Maybe that would bring some relief.

 

Rei followed Leon, limping slightly. "Nah...you were already injured recently, and I don't think those people in the alley cared all that much about us. Had they wanted to fight, I don't think I would've been able to dodge out of there like I did."
Lowering her voice a bit, she added, "There's definitely something going on in this town though. If I'm not mistaken, the man with the gun was referred to as...Director."

 

"Yeah, it does seem odd", Leon added before walking into the building and up the stairs to the room as Rei followed. "I might need to get a method of defense at this rate, It'd be bad to run into the wrong side of people like them and not stand a chance against their weapons", he said as he opened the door and letting Rei get in while he went to get his bag.

 

"Yeah...truth to be told, I'm not entirely sure how to control this...hunk of metal," Rei said, referring to her claw weapon. She entered the room, then decided to sit on the floor, so she wouldn't get blood on the bed.
"You think there's a place here that sells weapons or shields or something?"

 

Leon dropped the bag next to Rei and took out bandages from it, "There should be some sort of weapons shop and if not there are always people in back alleys", he said as he gave Rei the bandages, "I'll let you sort it out, I'm not very good at bandages which is why I still have them", he stated.

 

"Gotta love the blackmarket," Rei said. She thanked Leon for the bandages, and went into the bathroom, proceeding to clean and properly bandage her injury. After she had taken care of that, she asked, "So...what should we do now?"

 

"I was hoping to get myself a weapon", Leon said thinking of where the blackmarket would be if there where no weapon shops. "I might go alone, this could give you time to look around here so your senses don't lead you to a odd event like before", he recommended as an option he himself was not fully sure of.

 

"Have you ever used a weapon before?" Rei asked.
She also considered his suggestion. "True...but if you run into those people again, you'd have no way to defend or fight back. And that one guy had a gun, so I'm not sure how effective your wings would be as an escape."

 

"I have had my experiences but I'm sure I can flee easily alone, I'm a lot faster in the air", Leon stated, "You can come with me if you want but I'm sure you have something you'd like to do more than accompany me to a weapons dealer", Leon continued walking over and peering out the window again, this time he was trying to locate a near by weapons shop in case he did not notice earlier.

 

Rei nodded in understanding. "I think I'll go with you then. Chances are, if there's a weapons dealer they'll be able to tell me something about my own weapon."
She walked over to him and leaned against the window. "Besides, even with my injury I can still move pretty fast. If we run into more trouble, we should be okay."

 

"Alright then, do you want to rest first or shall we go?", Leon asked moving away from the window with no luck on spotting a shop or dealer. His paranoia improved greatly when he realised how dangerous some of the civilians are and once again when he realised he was defenceless against such force, he feared if they came for him he would be captured without fail and his life taken soon after but not before the removal of his wings.

 

"Whatever's good for you, I'm only here because you let me stay," Rei said. As he walked away from the window, his scent changed slightly.
"Hey," she said, walking over to him and putting a hand on his shoulder, "are you okay? Just now...you smelled a bit like...fear."

 

Leon shrugged off Rei's hand from his shoulder, "I'm fine, you should just think of yourself", he said as he moved across the room to the door. "If your ready let us be on our way", he added.

 

Collapsing on the ground, Victor went in and out of conciousness. Dammit, he still hadn't recovered from that boy earlier. Now because of this little tussle, it would take even longer for him to heal. At least Eva was safe... where was she?

"Eva?" Victor murmured, unable to do much else
"Eva...you alright?"

 

Rea quickly ran after Larenzo as fast as she could, jumping up on the rooftop. Once she reached him, she was out of breath. "Who... were... those... people...? What... did... they... want... with... us...?" She asked breathlessly. Once Rea caught her breath, she stood up straight and wiped the sweat off her brow, patting her pocket to make sure her flute was still there. It was.
