Well it's an old rumor that's been going around.
Gary does actually ask that in the Japanese version of the game, but apparently it was changed in the English version, to fit child players.
All this was never actually mentioned or anything, but it's still interesting to think that it was heavily implied.

Lol. It has been for a while now. I'm studying some shiz.

I love how this 'happy' childhood favorite show can be turned so tradgic from another viewpoint. Only Ash has a happy life, and he's in a coma. :lolface:​

 

Ah.., yeah, i remember reading this a while ago. Interesting indeed, but not to cause any form of surprise especially if you read the manga.

 

I always thought it was because of this.
