Kingdom Hearts II The Quirks of a Nobody

as serious as they are about having there hearts returned to them, and going out of there way to keep Sora from interfering.

Do you sometimes notice there..Odd quirks? Habits? Mottos? Strange behaviors when there not around the Keyblade weilding Maniac? ...Like Axel, Habit of saying "Got it memorized?" after some certain sentences.

Demyx is a quirk in and of himself, but in a totally adorable way ^_^

 

Like Xladin stealing people's women & roses?

To me, all of the Nobodies acted as though they were both their age and yet around 10 years old at times. Because they don't have Hearts, they also either over-emphasized emotional displays they were trying to get across, or underplayed them. i.e. I don't think Axel wanted to show his -bad intentions- to use Kairi but she easily saw he was over dramatically displaying his words and all. Saix was over dramatic even when he is so calm and arrogant getting at Sora. Xigbar and Axel, Demyx etc used strong hand and body gestures to display what they 'would' be feeling if they had Hearts.

I think the quirky nature of them was to show the awkwardness of their situation that they did not have Hearts, but they still had reactions to things people would do to them. Some of these reactions may have been things they would have done when they were alive, whereas others possibly they developed in their Nobody existence. I thought it was very interesting to note those quirks and made Nobodies pretty interesting because it's hard to imagine how someone would act with no emotions and yet they had them formerly and wanted them again.

 

As Repliku said, the members of the Organization have no hearts. They can only remember how it was displayed but as a result, they tend to exaggerate or underplay them in which they are misunderstood. In addition to this, their quirky nature may have been brought along in the creation of their shell when they lost their hearts.

For example, when Demyx uses strong hand & body gestures. This is most likely displayed what they would 'normally' feel if they had Hearts.

I never quite got nobodies, especially Axel. I didn't understand how he didn't have a heart, when in the second game he seemed so...happy that Roxas had finally remembered him. Or do you all think that was an act?

And his whole talk to sora between Twilight Town and the World that Never Was, when he was saying " He was the only one that ever made me feel like I had a heart."? Does that mean Axel is somehow different than other nobodies? That he can feel, if only for Roxas and Sora?

And on the topic of Roxas...he was a nobody. I don't understand how he could've felt for his friends if he didn't have a heart. And he seemed genuially upset about how he had hurt his best friend (Sorry, I can't remember his name ATM XP) when he 'spent the whole day with seifer's gang' although, this would explain the whole deal of why he doesn't try harder to try and explain what's happening to him to his friends.

But they all seem to have real emotions at points...

In the Final Mix vids, (The Subbed ones) Axel questions whether or not Roxas has a heart, and Roxas can't say for sure. So maybe he does, maybe he doesn't, stranger exceptions have happened.

Axel seemed pretty empathic to picking up other people's emotions, rather than his own and he reacted to those. I'm pretty sure he didn't have a heart, but he knew instinctively at least how he'd react if he did. Roxas was a friend to Axel and the Nobodies did still have souls so I tend to look at it as in that saying of somethings transcend emotion and go 'soul deep' because they are so vivid and real. I think Axel had more of that sort of connection with Roxas and a sort of empathy to him.

As for Roxas, because of the way Sora was, maybe Roxas did have a part of Sora's heart, or maybe even Ven's. It's hard to say. However, it was clear that Roxas was not just a typical Nobody. He did have some odd displays of things even if you count in the fact that Namine took away his memories of being in the Org. I'm sure we'll get more of a clearer picture in that but if he did have any heart at all, it may be what Axel also sensed about him. The way Sora 'gave into Darkness' was pure for a friend, so that could have had an effect on why Roxas turned out as he did. Interesting questions.
