Dante opened his fridge. "We have water, orange juice, very little orange juice, and milk."

Mya smiled. Just water would me fine.

BIC: Lol you're slow XD

 

"Around six to seven months..." Kjerstie spoke in a hushed tone. Kjerstie kept her eyes closed, her breath coming back to normal. The cool cloth felt good on her head, and she was thankful for it. Kjerstie suddenly had a question on her mind, but she had to remember how to go about asking about it. It had been a while since Kjerstie met someone new, and so she almost forgot how to ask for someone's name. "My name is Kjerstie... what's your name?"

BIC: Dante poored some water in a glass, and put some soup in two bowls. He handed Mya the water and soup. "Here you go."

 

"That's a while," Helisi quietly commented, crossing her arms as she brought one hand over her mouth. She stared down at the floor before looking back at Kjerstie and faintly smiling at her as she lowered her hand. "My name's Helisi," she said. "Nice to meet you." She stayed silent for a moment before opening her mouth to speak, but no words came. She cleared her throat and spoke. "To be honest, I don't really want to leave you here alone," she said. "Doesn't seem like you're in the condition to take care of yourself with nobody around."

 

Mya grabbed her soup and water and smiled. Thank you. She sat down and looked at her food, but didn't eat it. It must be lonely for you to live here alone.

 

Kjerstie smiled a bit while opening her eyes. "I'm not all by myself all the time... Someone always drop by to see how I'm doing... But I never see them. They always come when I'm really out of it, or when I'm sleeping. My brother told me it's our next door neighbor... but who ever lives there doesn't come out much."

 

"Sounds like you need a nanny," Helisi joked. "At least someone comes to check up on you." She began slowly pacing, looking around the room. I never really had someone like that. The room looked fairly simple and from what she had seen when she came in, so was the rest of the apartment. She doesn't have the money and neither did I. I've already forgotten how we got the money. Helisi took in a deep breath and turned back towards Kjerstie. "Don't mean to ask so many questions, but...where are your parents?" she curiously asked.

 

Dante sat down. "I go out and about alot. But yes, it is." he said a bit sadly.

 

Kjerstie couldn't help but to chuckle at Helisi's comment about needing a nanny. "Maybe a dog that can fold clothes or something..." Kjerstie's smile faded slightly when her new friend asked where her parents were. "It's okay to ask questions," she said, almost inaudibly. "The sickness took them... My brother and I had been taking care of ourselves. That is... until the mysterious neighbor showed up and started to help us out."

 

She sighed. It can't be helped. Many places don't want to accept us. She took a couple of bites of stew.

 

"I don't know what happened to this world... " He started to tear up. "Why do they hate us? We never hurt them!"

 

Helisi giggled. "Yeah, and a cat can cook for you." Her own smile soon faded at Kjerstie's response to her question. "I'm sorry..." she muttered. At least that's better than losing them to a riot...I think. She slightly tilted her head, beginning to get a little curious as to who their neighbor actually was. Then again, she felt like she was being too nosy to a girl's personal life. "This neighbor just came out of the blue?"

 

Mya grabbed his hand. Please calm down. Stay strong. She looked down.

 

"Like I said, I or my brother had never seen who it is. They just come, and go. Who ever it is, they bring us new food and supplies." Kjerstie brought a hand up to her head where the cloth was and just kept her hand there. Her head hurt a bit, but not enough to get worried over. She missed her brother a lot. Suddenly realizing that she was falling silent, she looked over at Helisi. "What about you? Where do you live?" It was Kjerstie's turn to be the curious one.

 

"Well, I'm glad this person takes care of you guys," Helisi commented. She looked at Kjerstie briefly before looking away and pressing her lips together. She wasn't quite sure how to respond to that kind of question. Nobody really asked her about her own life since she never really socialized with people very often. "To be honest, I'm not quite sure," she said. "I just tend to be...around, I guess."

 

Kjerstie took her hand off the cloth and set it beside her on the bed. "So any place is your home... That sounds like fun." Kjerstie grinned at Helisi, looking on the bright side of her situation. She knew that a lot of people had lost their homes since the war started, and she knew that she was on of the rather lucky ones. The girl also knew that there was probably people like her who were sick, living on the streets.

 

Helisi shrugged her shoulders. "I guess it can be fun. I mean, I see all different things," she said. "Good and bad." She smiled slightly and rubbed the back of her neck as she placed one hand on her hip. "I see a lot of people that are sick. I usually try my best to help them, but at times I can't do much, but watch them die. It's...depressing."

 

Dante clenched her hand a bit tighter. "I... I'll be fine... I'm more worried about you. Don't run into trouble. I'll be devestated if I couldnt save you." He let go of her hand.
