I'm not really a fan of online surveys, I generally don't find them to be credible.

The one exception to this in the several years I've been dealing with them is The Political Compass Test, which I love because it takes all of your ideals into account rather than putting you somewhere on the meaningless bipolar scale that has come to define contemporary politics.

    http://www.politicalcompass.org/index < -- click it

Post your results, discuss whether or not you got what you were expecting, etc. etc. The position of the dot on the horizontal scale represents where you stand on economics, the vertical position of your dot represents your stance on social issues.

For refference, here you can see where some of the candidates for the 2008 US presidential elections stand on it:

    Here's what I got:

    Economic Left/Right: -4.75
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.05

Huh. Well, that was rather interesting to do.

    The Political Compass

    Economic Left/Right: -3.75
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.67

EDIT: Drat, I forgot the graph. Oh well. Basically picture Virgin's graph with a red dot three squares to the right and one square up, and that was where I placed.

hmmm interesting...I took the same test a year or so ago and I was ranked barely left wing authoritarian. This is an interesting thing to note how what a year + of social construction and interaction coupled with historical contexts have impacted upon me...all i have to say is interesting.

@HadesDragon: lol, most youth and young adults I doubt would be very orthodox in their beliefs. And the culture today is pretty desensitized, so being liberal/left is common.

The only conservative people I know are my mom and my friend's dad, and a few people at my school. Also, this group of anti-abortion people who protest out in my town's square every other weekend. We drive past them with middle fingers held high. :]

    jk on that last part.
