I am super happy excited for this mmo who else is?

It's a Star Wars MMORPG that's in Production. Wikipedia says:

When I first heard about it I was really excited, but the whole MMORPG thing is a huge turn-off... I don't really want to pay to play. I don't like that it's pretty much considered Knights of the Old Republic III either, as I love that series and I feel like they kind of abandoned it with this.

 

I agree that I would prefer to simply have an actual sequal to the first two. However it should be good as far as mmorpgs go.

 

Urgh, I dislike the new art style. It's so cartoony! I read something interesting, though -- some fans think that Lucasarts didn't like the mysterious direction that the KOTOR games were taking the Force into, so they kind of pulled the carpet out from under them. :/ Like how

Darth Traya/Kreia was trying to get the Exile to question acts of goodness, and how to view allies, etc.

I have to admit, though, the webcomic is very entertaining. It's a bit disorganized and confusing (so many characters!), but I like it. :] Satele is a good character, but I might just be saying that because she may (or may not... she probably is. it's so obvious) be related to Bastila. I mean, they have the same last name, they both use Battle Meditation, and it was confirmed that a character is a descendant of a KOTOR character. I do wonder who the father of Bastila's child is...

Obvious-ness points to Revan, of course, which I would love (because I died inside when I found out that Revan left her to go stop the Sith on at the Unknown Regions ;_; )

but still, they might just pull an Anakin. Or it could be Carth's. ;D

 

How far a long is the webcomic? I've been wanting to read it.

 

Not very, I've gotten through all of it in no time at all. (then again I don't have the faintest idea of what's going on, as I glaze through it) I think there's three Acts so far, and I think six Issues per Act, each Issue being only a few pages.

 

I'm excited for this game. I'm hoping the pay to play wont be expensive,but it probably will. I've been keeping track of it on the website they have for it,and one thing that makes me happy is that everything is going to be voice acted. That's never been before for a mmo. And I'm also sad that they did this instead of a sequal, but i do hope that they will make one.

I know we probably shouldn't trust anything that Angral says, but then again, Malak was the one to make big reveals in KotOR, and Angral is basically a copy+pasta of Malak, so I'm going to go with it. For those who don't know, Satele's master died, Angral was laying on the floor and all, and then Satele & co went to leave. Angral recovered and was like "blah blah join the Sith, IF DARTH REVAN'S BLOOD TRULY RUNS THROUGH YOUR VEINS it's your destiny."
So yeah, now she's more or less the confirmed descendant of Bastila and Revan, what with the surname and Angral's statement. I do have to wonder why she would take Shan as her last name. My guess is that they were too lazy to make a last name for Revan? I mean I don't think that Satele could be their child, there's too much time, even considering how long powerful Jedi can live.
idk. I'm just very excited about this, lol. I want to know what happened to Revan. ;_;
I will however blow a gasket if there's an Onasi running around there.

 

I am actually getting pretty excited for this game. They have a lot of pretty interesting stuff on the website. Bioware sure does know how to promote video games.

Here's a timeline of the major events leading up to the video game, for those who are interested in when the game takes place as far as the Star Wars timeline goes.

Here is the webcomic. It's really not all that long and I don't believe it will be updated again, so don't be afraid if you've never read it but would like it! Personally I think the story was a bit confusing (too much going on!) and the art isn't my favorite (Tavus looks SOOO creepy, but so nice in the art I linked to below), but it's good for kind of setting up the characters who will appear in the game. If you're a fan of the original KotOR series, definitely check it out, there's a character you'll be pretty interested in. ;o

By which I mean Satele, who is now confirmed as Bastila's descendant, and it's pretty bloody likely that she's descended from Revan as well (according to some Sith guy).

Blood of the Empire is a new webcomic that will be started in the future. Also, it looks like Dark Horse is planning on making Threat of Peace a monthly comic book starting July 7th. Each issue will be sold for $2.99. Here and here is some awesome promotional art for it.

And over here is the Biographies page. Right now they only have three characters, but it's pretty interesting, especially Satele's page...

Firstly, I think it interesting that she doesn't like to go by Shan. I'm suspecting that possibly there was some sort of bad seed along the Shan line, or maybe she doesn't want people to favor her just because of an impressive lineage?
As far as character design goes, her hair seems noticeably darker than the webcomic, and she looks a lot more like Bastila now. On the subject of her hair though, I'm surprised it's graying already. I mean, she must be around 20 in Threat of Peace, and the game takes place 10 years after Threat of Peace, making her about 30? Oh well, we'll see. I'm pretty happy with her. :] She's an early favorite for me, if you haven't noticed yet.
More interesting, however, is the Aurebesh. There are three phrases, which say the following:
"Jedi exiled her mother": I'm assuming that this is why she doesn't like to go by Shan. I'd like to know why, though. Probably her mother was exiled for having a child, though, like Arren Kae.
"Blood of Revan": This one is pretty obvious. So I suppose Revan returned to known space, or he knocked up Bastila before he left.
"A Secret Son": This one is quite intriguing! Going along with the Jedi aren't supposed to have children thing, perhaps in the game Satele will be found out? Or you'll meet up with her son? And what about the father? I'm guessing it's Harron Tavus, as they hint towards a relationship here.

Then of course, there's the news about how they're making the first MMORPG with a story and voice acting, and the strong sense of community that they hope to create. I saw an interesting promo on G4, though -- it appears as though you can run through the game 100% as a single player -- which really got me excited. They say it will be an experience, but they hope that players will want to expand out into the MMO world.

I really hope the thing about the voice acting is true. It sucks that it's not supposed to release before next Spring, though, but they must be making it really worthwhile if it's taking so long.

 

I'm, like, 90% sure it is. I really hope that Jennifer Hale (who voiced Bastila) comes back to voice Satele, part of the reason why I love Bastila so much was Jennifer Hale's phenomenal voice acting. And I agree, waiting isn't fun, but I'd rather they take their time to get it out so we don't end up with another incomplete game like KotORII.

 

The webcomics were pre-game time, explaining Satele's difference in hairstyle, plus I think it's purely just a visual difference without any affect on the story.
I'm friends with one of the testers of this game, and he say's it's brilliant gameplay wise, but wouldn't add anything else under some contract or what not. It makes me really jealous I won't be able to play this game. I'll probably just live round my mates house for however long the game takes to finish! XD
I would love Jennifer Hale too, her voice acting is so ranged and detailed I love it, she really cares for the role she's taking on.
Does anyone know if they'll make any other form of way to convey the story of The Old Republic? Book? Movie? Something?

Ah, jealousy! I hate it when people dangle things in front of you like that. :c I'm glad to hear the gameplay is good though, the one in KotOR was really just kind of mediocre.
She's truly amazing. I was thinking about it today and I'm not sure she would really fit a character that seems as upbeat as Satele, but hey, I bet she could pull it off considering how talented she is.
I'm fairly sure that there will be a novelization as well. :]

Yay. :] I'm sure she'll do a lot of little voices, but I really really hope she's doing Satele too.

 

Hmmm, good to hear that she is part of the universe again.
I would agree that she's going to do Satele, for many reasons that it seems logical, and Hale doesn't backdown when it comes to doing a thousand pages or more worth of lines, which is usually the part of a main character.
And maybe with 'age' Satele will act a bit more like a master Jedi being humble and all-- ohlr she can pull an Anakin! Now that would be interesting!

If it's a continuation of the Old Republic story arc I don't really care in what media form it comes in. I've heard of a novel centered around this game but idk.

 

Well Satele isn't really the main character. It's an MMORPG, so obviously, you'll be creating your own character and then they will truly feel like the 'main' character to you. I'm guessing she's going to take on a kind of mentor/leader/Guild Master-esque role for those who ally themselves with the Jedi. I too an interested to see how she's changed with age -- she did seem rather... brash? in the comic (well she is a descendant of Bastila!), but I'm guessing she'll have chilled out a bit... Idk, I'm very excited for her character. I'd also like to know what happened to a lot of the other characters in the webcomic, but she's just really a standout one.

I think it will be simply a novel depicting the game's story, kind of like the comic book that was made for The Force Unleashed. The comic book I think will be a continuation of Threat of Peace. But who knows.

I want Yavin 4. The only thing this game still needs is Ewoks, and then I'm preordering it. (Not that I don't already plan to.)

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Ewoks were on Endor I thought? Yavin 4 was simply a Rebel outpost.
