I was thinking today, along the lines of Kingdom Hearts, and I had a strange through. Just where the hell did the Oathkeeper Keyblade originate from? The answer was right in front of me. Kairi made it!

Now hold up just a second, you say, Kairi made it? As you can recall, the keychain of the Oathkeeper is the Thalassa Shell charm that Kairi made. You can actually see her sewing it up in KH1 and the opening of KH2. Now just think about it for a second. Kairi, a girl of fourteen, managed to unlock a new form of the Keyblade with arts and crafts.

Now it may be a stretch, but I believe this may be connected to her flowery Keyblade, given to her by Riku. Maybe Riku found some way to make a Keyblade just like she did.

Remember the Birth By Sleep promo stuff, involving 'Chasers'? One of the dictionary definitions is 'one who works metal'. Does this mean that Chasers are the ones that made the Keyblades? If so, then that means that Kairi is a Chaser! Maybe back in Birth By Sleep, the seven Princesses of Heart created the Keyblades?

    Your thoughts?

It's a pretty good theory, but during Birth by Sleep, wasn't Kairi four or five years old? How could she possibly construct a keyblade at that age? You could be right about this, but I don't really think Kairi making the keychain and giving it to Sora was of any relevance besides Sora's promise to Kairi to return it. Also, all she did was make the keychain. The way attaching a keychain to the Keyblade and unlocking a new form actually works isn't clear to us players, so for all we know attaching anything to the keyblade could change its appearence and power level. It's possible that Kairi could have consciously or unconsciously used the magic of a Princess of Heart to make a special keychain, but I'm not sure.

Kairi didnt MAKE it. There is only ONE key. That is the Kingdom Key. When keychains are attached to it the keyblade takes a different form. Keychains are influenced by memories. Sora gets a new one every time he forms a memory of someone. (Fenrir is a memory of cloud/ sephiroth Sleeping Lion is a memory of Leon, etc.)

Good point! I'd forgotten about that! I was pretty sure it was a form of magic that contributed to the effect different keychains had on the keyblade, and I guess you could consider memories magic, in this game anyway. I mean, if you use the logic of Paladin's theory, Tarzan and Jane from the Deep Jungle would also have the ability to construct "special" keychains, as well as Aladdin, Ariel, Jack Skellington, etc., since you recieve keychains from them as well.

A good theory, but keychains come from anywhere. Erkz, ICSP, Destiny's force and I figured that the definition of a keychain is "Any old trinket that holds meaning to the keyblade master, and can represent an event or person. The strength is decided on the power of the person/memory. (Ultima excluded, being a bonus)"

Now, I am not trying to say that this is the only definiton, but so far it is the best I have seen. If you have an equal theory, fine, I would love to see it. But any theory also needs to acount for all keychains.

It is an interesting theory but I'm not sure I'd consider Kairi a chaser like the 3 in the past. No one in the game (unless Riku actually did make Kairi's Keyblade and had a hand in the Dark Keyblade's creation) actually seemed to do anything that would suggest it so much technical speaking because no one designed an actual Keyblade. Keychains seem kind of different to me in that they represent a bond between the Keyblade Wielder and the person/world. So, while her oath to Sora was important, so was his bond with Axel, his link with Pooh, his ties with Tarzan etc, which all had their own way of becoming Keychains (or Keyblades by default in KH2). Kairi does have a lot of power with Light that is rather not seen in full glory, but she doesn't seem the type to actually be able to craft a Keyblade.

You are right that she made the Keychain though, but she called it a 'charm' and to her it wasn't a Keychain at all. It was her charm to keep someone safe who went overseas and protect them from storms an such to ensure the person would make it home. That's what the purpose of it was and she kept it on her as a lucky charm for that reason. She gave it to Sora to make him promise to bring it back, which in turn would keep him safe. So, I think that I would almost more attribute it to the power of the Keyblade itself to make it a Keychain like the others he received.

Keychains are formed by memories, correct? Then...Couldn't they just be magical things that appear suddenly based on the memories of people? Did Nomura say anything about where they came from?

this is a good theorey but i don't know if she acually made it if she did then maybe the "one who works metal" means something else

That is the first time we all put our minds together and agreed on something...

And no one got hurt, except Nomura...

That is the truth... after every potential flaw in the theory was discussed, and dismissed, I now believe this theory is air tight.

There are not any Chasers, that was just a nickname for the trio from BBS.
And that's a Keychain,it's means Oathkeeeper is still the Kingdom Key,meaning that Kairi didn't make anything.
Everything can be used as a Keychain(Yes everything,Sora even uses a butterfly as a Keychain when he's with Jungle Key if you don't know),they just need memories powerfull enough whitin these objects(Sorry,i can't explain itreally well,i'm not good at it...).

Hell, I just think that if you can get a key chain and attach it to the keyblade to would make a new keyblade altogether.

One time I saw a KFC keychain and wondered what would happen if it was attached to the keyblade XD CHICKEN LEG KEYBLADE!!!!!!!!!!1 rofl

I think it has to do with Kairi's lucky charm. Where did she get it? Is it possible that it used to belong to one of the chasers and Kairi somehow got it? It is possible that it just holds certain powers and such that makes the oathkeeper keyblade.

Those are my thoughts. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear =/.
