The Night Shift

Kain saw the blind vampire in the distance, luckily the paladins had not caught her. She seemed to have problems, he'd help but to Kain she was just something else to get in his way. His vengeance would soon be in act, he only needed to get enough of his kind and information to defeat the paladins.

 

Abbie could hear someone near her... Somehow she knew it wasn't.. Their scent wasn't like a humans.....
"Identify yourself..." she said, pulling out her Sai blade... She was scared, and didn't know what she even was, or what this stranger was..

 

"I have no business with you girl, you would be no aid in your condition", Kain said coldly and arrogantly as he pushed the sai out the way of him.

 

Lyra watched Kain and Abbie from a distance, feeling sorry for the girl. She listened intently, midly interested on what Kain meant by 'no aid'

 

She scoffed.
"What are you anyways... you don't smell like the others do around here..." she said.

 

"I am what you are", Kain answered, "Are you blind?", he asked observing the girls movements and choice of speech.

 

Lyra smirked, shifting a little in the bushes.
Hm..Girls got attitude... Lyra watched their conversation still.

 

She blinked once..
"Well.... conditionally... yes," she answered....
"What exactly... am I? I have a thirst for something always but whatever it take won't satisfy me... And sometimes during the day, my skin burns slightly, but when i get in a shelter i don't.." she answered

 

Kain looked at the girl, she was obviously clueless, "I'll take you to a safe place where you will learn of what you are", he offered thinking that someone at the sanctuary will help her.

 

She cocked her head to the side, blinking her cloudy eyes. She could see him like a sonar, but couldn't quite see his face.
"There's others like us?" she asked, hopeful

 

"Yes. Now if we don't move from here someone will get suspicious of our conversation", Kain said looking around at the peasants.

 

"Where do we go?" she asked, putting her hand against a building for support.

 

"Follow me", Kain said, "If you are able", he added as he took a few steps forward. Are we being watched, Kain thought looking around towards the bushes, Did they move?

 

The sonar her eyes prduced picked up his movement. She followed him quickly.

 

Kain lead the girl towards a local tavern on the edge of town. He opened the door and moved over to the back door quickly. Suddenly he moved his hand onto a flame opening the wall next to them, the flame would only work for vampires. He looked back to check if she was still behind him before leading her down stairs into a monastery like place below ground.

 

She followed him swiftly, not able to see his actions....
"What is this place exactly?" she asked.

 

"A vampire sanctuary", Kain said stepping into the center of the room, no ones here... he thought noticing that none of the other 15 vampires recently located at sanctuary where absent.

 

"Vampires? Okay... you're......crazy..." she said, then thought about it... Her skin burned certain times of the day, she had a thirst that wouldn't go away, and her teeth were pointed.
"No way..." she said.

 

"Unfortunatly the vampire race was exposed at the time of my second death", Kain said leaning against a large alter in which someone had recently been, there where clear signs.

 

She moved her face around. She couldn't see him anymore, so she guessed where he was.
"And why do you have a secret place? Humans shouldn't believe in vampires... am i right?" she asked.
