"Sorry..." Casey mumbled taking a seat on the kitchen counter. "Why did you shoot him anyway?"

 

" i swear i didnt mean it...the dogs were back...he was fighting with them...like acttualy fighting with them...i went for one of the dogs...but i kinda got him instead..."

"he was?"Lyra said,she had come into the kitchen

"yeah,it was pretty weird....i think he was...growling at them..."

 

"I'm telling you, the simmalarities bewteen Jordan and Ben are creepy!" Elle said slightly louder then she had intended.

"I keep telling you Elle, it can't be that. Stupid cow."

"Hey! That was uncalled for..."

 

she bit her lip,glancing in at Jordan,who was sitting talking to Lisa.

"i have noticed he's been different since that dog bit him....but i dont think it was a were-wolf...i think it was just a normal dog..."

"then why's he acting like that? unless it had rabies.....what if he's got rabies?!"she said starting to panic

 

"Rabies doesn't act like this I don't think Ly, and the dogs would be foaming at the mouths and stuff..."

"We have to make sure we don't get bitten too, and I think getting out of here as soon as possible would be good too..."

 

"Yeah,i think its something different with these dogs....Ly,your uncle owns this place,did he ever mention the dogs? at all?"

"he said something about a compound for the army or something...something about training dogs,but they couldnt get out...not with the electric fencing..."she said"i dont remeber i havent been here since i was ten..."

"is there another way off?"

"dunno....me and Jordan only came by plane or boat...."

 

"Would apperating work? Though if it's a millartary base I'm sure the bloody minestry's done something to it."

 

she shook her head,"mum and dad never could appereate out of here...something to do with the air or something...."she said

 

Ada stashed the papers back into the brown envelope and went back down the stairs. "By the way guys, I found an abandoned warehouse. Its deserted apart from the few dead people..."

 

"you did?"she said

"where's you uncle now Ly? did he leave?"

"we dont know...he went missing..."


"then he might still be here!"

 

Ada listened, then nodded. "Yeah, if we searched we could find some wands, or maybe a truck or something. Anything to try and get our wands back..."

 

"we left our wands at home...and as for a truck or something,in that shed out theres a car....but it doesnt work....but if i can get across....i can fix it probaly..."

'you sure Lyra?"

she nodded,"you lot didnt call me sparky when we were younger for nothing you know..."it was true,when she was younger,when she had started to show her magic,she had been able to do anything with everything elctrical or anything like that,when she was nine,she had some how hot-wired her father's car,but she broke it in the end,she had even eltricuted a few people.


Alex grinned,"but how will you get in?"

"my uncle built a sipline for me and jordan,i can use that to get a cross,then you just pull me back...she said shrugging

'your sure about this now?"

 

"We're well and truely f*cked..." Elle mumbled, it wasn't that she lacked faith in Lyra. She just had a ominous feeling towards the entire scenario.

 

yeah..."she said


"were are not well and truely f*cked,we are getting that car,and we are going..."he said"when do you want to do it ly?"

"now while it's still light,i wont be able to if its dark..."

 

Elle sighed once again. She didn't want to voice her concerns as she knew it would just drag down the other members of the group.

 

"ill help..."alex said


lyra left the kitchen,tying her hair up as she went,it would only get in her way...


"whats happening? what're you doing ly?"Jordan said sitting up quickly

"gettting the car..."

"what? why? it doesnt work..."jordan said

"im making it work..."

'you cant go out there!"he said jumping up,he winced as he put weight down on his leg"Alex tell her she cant!"Alex gave him then"im on her side" look,"Casey tell her!"

 

Ada sighed. "Il follow the Zipline and walk over" Ada murmered.

 

"As much as I'm against her going into danger she's our only hope of getting out of here mate. So unless you or Alex can jump start a car then she has to go. Besides she's not going to be on her own, I'm going with her too. Saftey in numbers and all that."

 

she gave Jordan a smug smile

"cant beleive your letting her go....with you or not....nobody should go..."

"im not a little girl Jordan....i can take care of myself..."

 

"It's that or we're all stuck here, maybe to die. What choice would you make?"
