my personal theory is that it's Ansem the Wise. reason because of the lightsabers and the organziation coat. i believe that Xemnas learned his lightsaber fighting style from Ansem the Wise and also got the black coat from him.

No, I don't think it's AtW. He's in Radiant Garden during BbS with his assistants. If it's non-canon then it may be him, i'll give you that, but if it is indeed a canon thing then it's not very likely imo.

It is a canon battle, look here, though chronologically I don't know when it happened, except that it was after Eraqus' death but before the Keyblade Graveyard battle.

Really, by looking at videos of the character he reminds me of the Xemnas battle in KH: Remix. In the next important installment (let it be KH3) i'm pretty sure this character will be revealed then. Who he is and whether he be ally or enemy, for the moment I can only presume.
I mainly presume something of a time-traveller since the No Name Keyblade shows a lot of clocks and time motiffs, aswell as the fact he doesn't use the realm of darkness to travel abotu but simply disappears. And if it is a time-traveller I suspect it to be a version of Terranort, most likely post-KH2 version, when his heart(Ansem, the SoD) has returned to his body(Xemnas), Xehanort has once again (again, again) been reborn. I suspect he has gone back in time since his Terra heart part wanted to see his home and (sellf) friends again. Or maybe to learn more about how to make the x-blade.
Now as to how he is able to time-travel, don't ask me, ask Nomura, he's better at making up crazy arsed bullshit than me. No to mention make money out of it.

I believe that the scene where Terra saw a glimpse of young MX in Riku's place was just a foreshadowing of what was to occur with Riku, AND that Riku and young MX had similar goals; wanting to leave the islands. That wasn't the first time Terra saw a glimpse of the future; by the way. In any case, The first ever Cutscene you see when you start out the game is a young MX saying, "This world is just too small." Thus, the scene going from dawn to evening, and an OLD MX is in his place holding a now unconscious Ventus.

Now; to not get off topic here, yes it is possible that the Mysterious Figure could in fact be a younger MX; since the old MX was wearing a black coat in the first cutscenes. I mean, Terra was already seeing visions of the future; so maybe the darkness gives them the ability to be able to timeskip or something?<----Idk. Now, I strongly believe that it could be "Ansem the Wise" that is the mysterious figure; seeing as he also wore an organization coat in the dark margin or whatever.

I mean, Ansem the Wise isn't THAT old; and Ansem could have been the original Ethereal wielder before Apprentice Xehanort stole his identity. Thus resulting in his Nobody also being called, "Xemnas", and wielding Ethereal blades. I mean, every Organization member uses a weapon very similar to that of when they were once Humans. Ex:Lea=Disks, Axel=Chakrams, Braig=Guns, Xigbar=Guns, etc. Don't you think it's only right that Ansem the wise was also a fighter too? Why else would he have apprentices who use weapons as well?

Yeah, that is a very possible outcome. However, all we see of ansem the wise is him holding little kids hands, (Ooo secret trailer spoiler) eating sea-salt icecream, saying no to xehenort the apprentice like 50 times, and getting blown up by his creation to encode hearts. If he's capable of fighting, Nomura hasn't revealed it. But im not saying its wrong. He may have been some sort of warrior, and went his ways of peace to try to understand the heart because of something that happened. he may have been the origin of the ethernal blades. But through and through, I am firmly standing on the hypothesis that WHOEVER the Mysterious Figure is, he has influenced Xemnas, or Visa-versa.

If it does turn out to be Ansem the Wise I will squeal like a little girl. He's my fav obscure character of the series, not too much is known about him since he's an original character and it makes it more intruiging what Nomura could do with him. I'd love him to be a fighter as good as the Mysterious Figure.

Well while i'm incline to think that you've made a good theory Hexin one thing which goes against you is a statement from Nomura saying that the Time flashes were just foreshadowing the eminent events. Also i relation to the Ansem the Wise theory, i would like to refer you all to KHII When he couldn't even take out Dusks and had to have Mickey take care of them on the lane just after Xigbar's room. Theres no doubt this character could've influenced Apprentice Xehanort but i think and hope that this mysterious Figure is a person unknown to the series thus far and will probably come into the franchise a bit in KHIII and after that, when the Xehanort Chronicals is finished he will be revealed along with a whole mess of other awesome characters.

Why would Ansem the Wise be the Mysterious Figure? He couldn't have been there in person because that'd make no sense. Ansem the Wise never became a Heartless so he never left a Nobody, so it doesn't fit.

The other secret boss fights, while not completely canon, do make sense though. Terra's armor could've still just been lingering(bad pun) in the Badlands where Sora was transported to, Vanitas could've left his own Remnant as well due to his own strong darkness(although that fight can't be canon at all due to chronological issues).

One thing that I'm thinking of is that it is Xehanort's Nobody. Not Xemnas, but another Nobody. How many hearts does Terranort have inside him? Two? Maybe Three? It's very possible that he could've had some sort of Terra/Eraqus Nobody that is what we now know as the Mysterious Figure. As for the Heartless they could've made, it could've been an insignificant Shadow heartless(Like Sora) or they could've made none like with what happened to Namine.

And to answer the question about Ansem's apprentices having weapons, the people you listed had very obvious reasons for having them. Braig is simply badass, he needs no explanation. Lea and Sai, they're kids. Sora and Riku had wooden swords when they were younger so why can't those two have weapons? Following this pattern it should be an incarnate of Terranort(This name should become canon XD). Also, Dilan and whatshisface had weapons because they were body guards.

The only time Ansem fought was when he was using the powers of darkness to mess with Riku in CoM. Ansem sucked at fighting then and Riku knew it. Terranort on the other hand, has had a Nobody like Xemnas show off some really impressive skills. Logically, Mysterious Figure can't be Ansem unless that explosion made a copy of him that was completely freaking badass.

tl:dr - Ansem the Wise sucks. Mysterious Figure is badass. Ansem the Wise =/= Mysterious Figure.

You know, I'm personally starting to think that MF is the nobody of Xehanort's OLD body. After all, his heart left him, right? Therefore(seeing as he's a strong... STRONG character) shouldn't he create a nobody as well?

I see Xemnas as a result of the nobody of Terra, as it is Terra's body, although it is MX state of mind which controls it. The fact that they both use ethereal blades may contribute to this theory. I'm not too sure why he wouldn't have his keyblade though...

Any flaws you guys can see?

It could possibly have happened for Aqua actually. Before going too Radiant Gardens, going to the Badlands would make sense

Remember when MX said that he had 'alternative plans', what's the possibility that he knew Terra would give Riku the ability to become a keyblade wielder and by doing so, unwillingly passed on some darkness into Riku for MX to use later? Another theory of mine... although a little weak =/

That's a little new. Although I'd like to think that Xehanort's body faded into the light/darkness and nothing really happened with it. A Nobody doesn't really need a body to form. Namine for example. I'm thinking that the Mysterious Figure is like a counterpart of Xemnas but with more of Terra/Eraqus than Terra/Xehanort. Terraqus! XD Either he's that or young Master Xehanort. @-@ As for why he doesn't have a keyblade...maybe the keyblade simply left him due to their complex mixture of opposing identities. That didn't happen with Roxas because Ven's heart willingly went to Sora.

Eh...all I know is that Vanitas Remnant is technically a Lingering Spirit like Terra's armor. I've read the report after beating him and that's basically what it says(and yes, his name is Vanitas Remnant).

I think Riku's pretty much over his darkness problems. Or not. Maybe Nomura could be like, "I FOOLED YOU. LOL" >>

One question, how can it be a year since Ansem saw Sora or could it be foreshadow that point in time can be somewhere else instead of being right after KH2.

Recoded takes place right after KHII, and i think so does 3D. there may be a couple more "Fillers" till Reconnect, but i think the secret ending happens when Reconnect is about to start. Its up to Nomura when it officially begins though. But this makes the most sense.

It's probably not right after KH2 but I think it couldn't be too far off. After all Sora wouldn't go to that tree EVERY DAY and hold the letter AND the bottle like a total nerd with OCD. Anyway imo it's probably got a few hours in between the two at most.

He actually says that it's been a year since he MET Sora, so it would be shortly after COM.

Um...not if I remember correctly. He said something along the lines of, "It's been a year since I last saw the boy." Last time being when he "exploded". XD

    Actually he said:

"How long has it been since I met him? At least a year now, perhaps more..."

But I always see this as the day of the explotion.

Guys, think about this for a second. The secret boss of each game is always somebody from the next major game. KH1 had Xemnas; KH2 had Terra. The Mysterious Figure must be someone relevant to KH3, or whatever major game is coming up next. It is most likely not anyone's Nobody, because that storyline has been all but expended, and as much as it makes sense for it to be Ansem the Wise, that would be nothing new. (Besides, how/why would he be there? Did he have a means of transport?)

We don't necessarily have to assume that this is an entirely new character, but if it is a form of another character, it won't be anything so simple as some other Xehanort's Nobody. Not unless that will become a relevant plot point in the next KH. All discussions about the Mysterious Figure are inexorably tied to discussions of what the next big KH will be about.

As for my hypothesis: It's obvious that, whoever this guy is, he influenced or was a precursor to Xemnas's fighting style. This could be entirely unrelated, like the similarities in Vanitas and Ansiku's choice of clothing, or it could be hinting at something to do with Xemnas; perhaps something he discovered? Xemnas has been actively exploring Castle Oblivion through his lackeys, so that could be the source of this character. Also note that he holds his blades backhand, and there's only one other person we know who does that.

Combining these two, the only logical recourse for me is that the Mysterious Figure somehow relates to Ventus. I'm reluctant to return to the Nobody idea, but it's possible. It could also be something similar to the Lingering Sentiment, that is, Ventus's mind reaching out. To return to my requirement that the boss be related to the next game's plot, perhaps the Mysterious Figure is Ventus reaching out to Aqua/Sora and he will finally be able to get through to them in KH3.

Sadly, there is a rather large stumbling block here: The frame doesn't fit. The Mysterious Figure is taller than Aqua, but Ventus is shorter, and the dimensions of their bodies are different. I'm seeing Xemnas's stature in the defined shoulders, but he's as ripped as Lexaeus. All of that by itself pretty much kills my hypothesis, unless Ventus's mind can take the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This ultimately leads me, in a very roundabout and unnecessary way, to what I actually wanted to say: Who gives a sh**? Quit being impatient and just wait for the next game to come out.

I think he may be some kind of unversed, considering the color of his blades (kind of the same color as the unversed symbol) and that his battle pose is closely similar to Vanitas'

He also said in the Secret Ending that he had forgotten his own name and etc. so I doubt he'd remember the exact time period he had met Sora.

Yeeahhh, but that is way farfeched. I did fight the MF recently and i found out both Terra and the MF are the same in height. Also right as he turns around and the Flux vanishes, there is a faint red glow as the hole vanishes. i dunno if it means anything, but what ever. As for it being Ven, im not convinced. Next you could say that its the melding of Terra and Ven's Hearts as they vanish to make Verra. Somehow, i don't think this is possible nor consievable, so i think we can negate that hypothesis.

All I will say is that the Re:coded secret ending may have some insight as to who it is. Now they'd only need to explain the whole time traveling thing.
