he didn't mistake him for Master Xehanort, more like he was suspicious and he thought that Master Xehanort had something to do with Sora getting the Keyblade when it was destined for Riku.

Eraqus died. Plus he put his own light within Terra. His heart was not seperated from his body. Essentially he's the only person to truly die in the series.

To be blunt, you're wrong. Master Xehanort never once let his heart become a Heartless until a bit before the time Kingdom Hearts 1 starts. He couldn't have made a Heartless simply because his heart was always in a vessel until he made "Ansem" and had Xemnas created as a result as well. It doesn't matter if someone fears the dark or not, if the heart has any trace of darkness and is without a vessel it becomes a Heartless.

Here are the only times MX seperated his heart:

    1. At the end of Terra's story he releases his heart to fuse with Terra and attempt to take over his body.
    2. The time "Ansem" is created.

People mistake the Aqua and "Terranort" fight for Xehanort releasing their heart when he stabs himself. He never released his heart at that time. He might've tried to but what he really wanted was to let the darkness swallow Terra's body/heart/etc so that Xehanort would be in complete control.

Master Eraqus can't die because of a fundemental concept, Death doesn't exist in Kingdom Hearts. It has been Stated more than once by Nomura that the Concept of death doesn't exist in the KH Universe and stated that Any Character can come back into existance by certain means. I agree that Eraqus put his Light into Terra but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. There is a chance of Eraqus having a heartless simply because we don't know exactly what Xehanort did when he struck him down. The heart exists of light and darkness so it could either turn into a heartless or be put into terra for all we know. It all just depends really.

In a sense it does because if you keep forcing darkness away, it just gets closer. Master Xehanort let Darkness freely flow through his body, Not supressing it even for a second. He had enough power not to worry about Darkness trying to Control him. Since he was in control he was able to transfer his heart of darkness into Terra, feeding even more on His Darkness and taking Control of terra's body. If he had the potential to become a heartless he would've become one in the transition between Terra and Master Xehanort but he didn't. I do agree though that it did happen nine years before Kingdom Heart 1 because he mightn't have known about what would happen. We don't know the extent of his knowledge of his previous life as Master Xehanort. I say Nine years because Nomura Said that the insurrection of the apprentices and their move through darkness was one year after BBS.

This point is something interesting and personally i think thats probably correct. Can you explain and expand a bit more though?

I would agree with you on every other case in the KH universe but Nomura hasn't explained what happens when someone vanishes and they make neither a Heartless or a Nobody. Like what happens to the people who don't create Nobodies when they become Heartless? If the Heartless gets destroyed do they have some chance of coming back? Eraqus, although he had darkness in his heart from having attacked Ven and Terra, didn't seeminly even release a heart. That's basically my counter-argument. Maybe he became part of "the Force" or some BS like that. XD

While that does make sense, I like to think that it takes more than a couple seconds to become a Heartless if the heart is outside the body. MX's body didn't disappear until after his heart went inside Terra. If he didn't have Terra around to take the heart, Xehanort would've become a Heartless and Nobody right at that moment...and obviously he isn't stupid enough to just randomly do that. As for "Terranort", I'm assuming he had some sort of grand scheme when he made himself a Heartless but as they weren't very common in BBS(you only see Neoshadows in a cutscene where Xehanort is trying to train Ven in the ways of darkness)...well, I guess he just didn't know what was coming to him. Maybe he just wanted to get closer to the darkness. *Shrug*

All these dark colors are bothering me. D: I'm switching. Actually, I'm right by saying what I did. I read it in the Trinity Archive. I originally thought Terra was trying to pull Master Xehanort out of his body but failed. Instead, Xehanort wanted to plunge Terra further into the darkness since Terra's will was becoming too strong for him to handle. After all, his Lingering Sentiment owned the living hell out of Terranort and since then Terra's been fighting Xehanort in their collective consciousness. I personally like to think of our current Xehanort as some kind of alter ego of Terra, having some of his memories but wanting to seek answers in the path of darkness like Xehanort while at the same time being practically neither of them.

Anyways, back on topic...I said this a few times early but simple logic dictates that the Mysterious Figure is some form or another of Xehanort/Terranort. Weapons are similar to Xemnas's just like how Briag's, Dilan's, and every other Somebody's weapon is similar to their Nobody. It's just that the Mysterious Figure is much more badass than anyone we've seen so far and could possibly be the strongest character in the entire series(and Eraqus's armor doesn't count D8< ).

Hmm... I was thinking. (Hope you guys don't mind if i go on a slight tangent.) The young dude at the beginning of BBS on destiny island is definitely young Xehenort. and when terra meets riku on DI, He turns into young Xehenort and then to himself during KHII. I think that Riku is the son of Xehenort. (im not sure if anyone already established this yet.) But when the first scene shows and Young X said "this world just isn't big enough," I think the person who said that was the voice actor for riku in KHII. With this being said, Do you think riku has any correlation to Xehenorts "return"? (If that happens, which im certain it shall.)

I made a thread stating this. It was erased. >> Anyways, if anyone says otherwise there's proof to say that the young person is young Xehanort.

As for him being Riku's father, I dunno. I think Nomura stated that everyone in the secret movie in KH2 wasn't related(family-wise) to the main characters but maybe he was only talking about Terra, Aqua, and Ven(and logically Vanitas couldn't be anyone's relative since he only belongs to Ven).

I don't think Riku really has much to do with Xehanort's return anymore. His part has been played ever since that machine exploded and turned Riku back to normal. The last bit of Xehanort's heartless is gone from him so anything after involving Riku would just be something related to Terra having given Riku the power to weild a keyblade(through his little ritual). I don't think the voice actor was the same as KH2's Riku. It was a little too deep in my opinion but I'll look at the scene again later today.

Yeah it was deeper, but take Osment for instance. He voices the medium high happy go lucky for Sora, but also the low menacing monotone voice of vanitas. ( He did great by the way, when i heard that the dude who voiced Sora in jap did Vanitas in jap, which was also good, i was afraid Osment would screw it up. but he didn't.) I think the guy for Riku was David Gallagher or somthin like that... anyways i looked up that name in each ending, including the final one, and i didn't see his name. I didn't even see the spot where the say Young Xehenort--------- i dunno, i jus thought he sounded the same. Which, would support some sort of relation to riku.

you are right that its young mx. He is the one that riku told terra that some one else left the island long ago also. Cause destiny islands was the home for mx. As for who played him I couldn't find his name either.

And nobody else on here might not think that the mysterious figure might be a clone of terranort?

MX is not Riku's father. I've seen the Destiny Islands part of Terra's story and I believe Riku says that the man who left to the outside world (MX) left a long time ago. That would explain why MX is so old while Riku and Sora are so young. If I am wrong then feel free to correct me but I strongly believe that this is the case.

Has anyone noticed that in Mysterious Figure's battle, he uses certain attacks that look a LOT like secret boss Vanitas's?

EDIT: Some of you might also find this interesting.

I see where you're going at, but i leave you with 2 questions: Why does lil riku "transform" into young MX, and why do they have the same hair color? the last one is arguable, but, they both do want to leave the destiny islands. He could be his Grandfather, or Father. MX may have married late. i dunno. that part cant be explained with Disney around... but thats what i think.

    it probably doesn't mean much
but Riku said in KH1 before they left Destiny Islands that "we may never see our parents again."
That seems to imply that his parents are still there on Destiny Islands.

Well, Terra seems to have a brief moment of seeing the future at that moment. So when Terra sees Riku "transform" into young MX, I think it is more of a foreshadowing of what Riku's fate holds for him (being controlled by Ansem of the Darkness and becoming his vessel). And the second question could simply be answered that silver hair is not all that uncommon in the KH world. I had the notion that when they said "long time ago" it means decades. I figure MX left Destiny Islands years before any of the younger BBS characters (like TAV) were born, and so before Riku could even be conceived.

Well the first one is all up to Nomura to answer because I can't truly understand why that did happen. I leave you with this though. If he was his grandfather (or even great grandfather for all we know) then that might explain it. And you probably know the theory that Sora looks like Vanitas because they came in contact when he was born so why can't that be the case with Riku and MX? After all when MX took Ven to the islands (after making Vanitas from his darkness) is uncertain so at this point it's a plausible theory.

If the first point I made is correct then the second question is answered as well.

I just assumed that Riku either reminded Terra of MX or it was just to show the player how similar Riku is to MX. They both wanted to leave Destiny Islands and ended up going down the same road so it could be some kind of foreshadowing for what happens in KH1.
I don't understand what you mean. That Riku and MX's heart connected so Riku grows up to look like MX? I doubt Riku and MX met (though it could be possible which is why Xehanort's Heartless specifically chose Riku in KH1, unless it was just chance).
The weird thing is, if I'm correct, that Vanitas was made before Sora's heart connected with Ven. After all, wasn't Vanitas' birth the reason Ven's stations were broken? So what did Vanitas look like BEFORE Sora's heart connected with Ven? Was his face just blank? I guess that could be the real reason for his helmet.

That works too but why would Terra think of MX while talking to Riku if he didn't know where he (MX) came from in the first place?

That was kinda the point I was making. That because MX came into contact with Riku, he grew up to look like him.

Yeah, Sora's heart connected with Ven's AFTER Vanitas was made. Since he was missing his darkness (i.e. Vanitas) he was incomplete and so Sora connected with his heart and saved him. And I think it may have been Sora's merging with Ven's heart that caused him to look like Vanitas now that you've said all of that. I mean think about it Vanitas was his (Ven's) other half and we all know what he looks like. So maybe because (for a time at least) Sora became VEN'S other half he would begin to look like him. Also about Vanitas' face. I think he began to look like that BECAUSE Sora completed Ven's heart for a time. Vanitas' face may have been blank when he was first created but I guess we'll never know now will we?

To contain a spoiler of having a bad guy look almost exactly the same as the main character of the series. If you saw it before you knew the logic behind the concept of Vanitas, you would be blown away. plus Nomura probably wanted to see "sora" with muscles since sora lacks that. But what i want to know is: how can the mysterious figure play a role in the series. It's Killing ME!!!

For all we know the Mysterious Figure could just be there as a little non-canon treat (like Lingering Sentiment in KHII FM+). We'll just have to wait and see though I do wanna know if it does play any kind of role in the series.

He's gotta. I mean, This is very similar to the lingering sentiment in KHII Final mix. a "random" battle that is not explained at all. I dunno if he's a Nobody, Somebody, Good guy, or Bad guy. What if he's somehow connected to Organization XIII, we can't assume because micky and riku both have worn "the coat". he could be a replixemnas, or a whole different entity. Indecently, (another tangent) I hope the somebodies of Demyx, Larexine, luxord, marluxia, and origins are solve in 3d, or KHIII. maybe the MF is related somehow.
