Naruto is not a ninja.

Ninja's were used as weapons of war for missions of the utmost delicacy in the transportation of high-class information, thievery, espionage, and in very rare cases assasination. Ninja's use stealth and cunning and find the ends are the means. Ninja fighting techniques are somewhat ironic in the fact that there is a large array of weaponry but Ninjas weren't required to use more then knives, short swords, and metal palms. These weapons were of course use as last-resort means of defense when escape was impossible.

Naruto is an idiot who yells and screams a lot, he's a mercenary for hire who hardly every goes on missions, but ends up spending all of his time training to beat up people and become the best. Naruto wears flamboyant and bright colors, his master arts are ones of Power, such as the multi-shadow clone jutsu and Rasengen. He is not a Ninja in anything but name, because Ninjas in the universe and context of Naruto are not Ninjas, but simply Human beings fighting needlessly over trivial matters using techniques based loosely on the basics of true battle Ninjutsu, a very VERY small part of Ninjutsu which was only taught for reasons of necessity.
