I am going to say frankenstein, that book was really hard to keep focus in. It is one of the best book I ever read but the way she wrote it was really drawn out, and parts of it were just confusing to read. I could often feel myself not reading but scanning the pages.

Here here. I didn't enjoy Frankenstein cause of the long drawn out chapters. xP

A hard one that I'm reading is Tale of two cites. I had absolutely no idea what the heck they were talking about in the first paragraph.

Yeah Lord of the Rings was definitely a toughy. I've never finished reading them all. I'm gonna try again after my exams.

To Kill a Mockingbird. That book bored me to the hightest level. I feel asleep three times trying to read it. Never. Again.

And then there's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This book was confusing... xD Damn.

I absolutely adored the Silmarillion!! But I had to constantly look back at the index of names to figure out who those people were. It was annoying, but worth it in the end.

I thought the LOTR series was really hard to keep track of. Everything went in and out of different situations way too many times to keep up with.

The hardest book to read, in my opinion, was Beowulf. Talk about confusing.

I never tried reading Harry Potter after my lovely attempt to read the first one. Took me darn near a month and that's a long time for me reading a book.

Funny because the ones you all are posting as difficult are the ones I enjoy reading.:D

Pride and Prejudice. I tried to read three times and couldn't get pass the 1st chapter. I kept getting lost in the conversions. I didn't know who was talking when and who they were talking about.

Oliver was like trying to run in ankle deep sludge. I got half way through the book and hit a lull. ****ens just wouldn't move the story along. and it's funny because A Christmas Carol is my favorite book. maybe because it's so short.

However I have no problems reading Shakespeare. I guess it's because I'm a thespian.

no i'm not cussing that's how you spell his name

A Painted House. 350 pages I think it was. 350 pages about a kid *****ing about working on a farm There two murders somewhere in there, but they were hnot really touched upon. I wanted to murder John Grisham after reading this crappy book.

Hmm...I used to find Little Women hard to get through, but I guess that was because I was so little when I first picked it up.

Of the books I have read recently, I found Dracula to be the most annoying. Sure it's short, but the print is tiny and you have to read every word carefully to understand what the heck is going on...It takes a lot of time to get through...not to mention that it's terribly dull and oh-so corny.

Garlic. Stakes. Crosses. Oh my....and gravedirt. Lots of gravedirt.

That book was difficult to read, but if you took it slowly and word by word it wasnt too bad.

And I actually found Pride and Prejudice to be amazing (but that could be because i saw the movie first and fell in love with it).

As for the hardest book I have ever read... well, it wasnt the hardest, but Metamorphosis was difficuly. I was not in the mood to read it and so i just stopped early on, asked myself what the h*ll I had just read, and have not looked at the book since. I keep meaning to go back and try again....

Despite the fact that I despise reading, most books are easy for me to understand.

The only hard book for me that I've tried to read was Great Expectations.

I hate that. When you read smething then have no clue what you just read or have no clue whats happening.

One of 'em was Tithe by Holly Black.I try to finish it but I wasn't able too...I'd have to read it over again to understand what I just read.

We had to read "Great Expectations" and "As I Lay Dying" for English class last year.

Both were extremely hard to read. "Great Expecations" used too much old English language, and "As I Lay Dying" changed POV too much.
