When Roxanne and Nicholas were finally let out of the library, Roxanne had calmed down a slight but, but not enough to function properly. She did what she had to almost by autopilot. She remained very quiet during the time. However after sleeping through it, she seemed a bit more like her normal self when it came morning again. Part of Roxanne wanted to see how Hendrick was doing, but she feared that it would send her into another break down, and she still felt a bit of the one that just pasted, so instead she made her way to the training center.

In the training room Roxanne began to practice with her knife. She not only was attacking normally but she was practicing flipping around the enemy to avoid imaginary attacks. She allowed herself to surrender to the killing calm as she jumped, flipped and stabbed the target again and again. Each time it missed the killing marks, but that was on purpose. She never liked to kill her victims too quickly. After about eight stabs, Roxanne flipped, around and kicked it, knocking the thing to the ground. From there she let out a low laugh. If this was her enemy they would be powerless to do anything to stop her now. She climbed on top of the training dummy and started to make shallow cuts in various patterns. the training dummies body was pretty much covered in cuts by the times she was done her carving. Now time for the final touch that would ensure to kill it.
"You die now." She said with a giggle as she made a deeper cut above where a heart would be. She ten practiced the motion of carving out the heart, though it wasn't there to take. This was exactly how she would kill those who hurt Hendrick when she could find them.

The Pandemonium long gone now. This was for the best. She did not need people know that she was there. Nephilim would be on her if they found out she was there. Really she did not do anything but check it out. She was reaching her home. She knew that the sun would be rising soon and that would not be good in so many ways. She reached her home right before sunrise. She opened the door walked in and locked the door behind her. She was not sure what the whole Pandemonium thing had been about, but a fairy getting shot was not a good thing. She was now home and safe. She felt like she would be able to relax. With the sun rising any moment it was time for rest.

~9:00 Pm the night before. It was getting late. He should be getting ready for bed, but he found himself unable to wind down. He always had a hard time going to bed. He always thought that he might forget more every night. He lived in fear every day for the last 5 years that he would forget more. It never happened, but there was always the chance that this night would be the night that it happened. A hour latter he was still awake. His mother telling him to get to sleep. He laid in bed turning to look at the clock and it said 11 now. He could her the various cars go by. It seemed to be one busy night more so then normal. At one point he was able to fall asleep. He open his eyes to see a car coming towards him. Dream
The lights came closer and closer. He did not know where he was. He found that he could not move. Then it hit him. There was a sound somewhere in that he could hear, getting louder and louder until he opened his eyes finding that he was in his room.

He opened his eyes got up to turn off the alarm. At first he felt relied that he could remember. He never understood why he had to get up early. Today was not going to be any different then any other day. He was not going to make any new friends, just like the day before and the day before that. How was today any different then the day before? He got ready to go. Ready to head out the door.

"Hm." Ash grumbled to himself as he paced back and forth, staring at the ancient text flipping through pages that should have long turned to dust if they had not been held together by magic. "Tha mi a 'feitheamh fada gu leòr." Ash spoke in his native tongue. His thoughts were on more important matter than delayed meetings with those he had been doing business with. His voice shown the slightest hint of annoyance as he worked through picking apart each sentence of the tome, deciphering its words that were scrawled in a dead language. He shook his head in disapproval of his own lack of ability to transcribe its meaning more efficiently.

    A weak but rather annoyed
woman's voice spoke from the bottom of the staircase. The words vanished from their yellowed pages as Ash shut the book in response to the question she had asked. "You're welcome." Ash looked over at Morrigan, placing the nearly blood-red leather bound book on a nearby counter. "Rhett will return with your old clothes within the hour. Cleaned and repaired. I did not believe you would wish to awaken in such rags though I am surprised you asked why." Ash tilted his head, taking a moment to closely observe the fairy and her current condition. As he suspected, she had not been fully cured and it was all due to his shoddy makeshift antidote. If he had been prepared to be receiving a fairy with such a poison running through her body she would have been free to leave the moment her clothes returned to her but given the nature of the remedy he had given her...

    "
Unfortunately, the fact I changed your clothes will not be the only bad news you will get. You are to be my guest here until you are well again. The cure I administered to you when you came here was more than imperfect. I lacked the ingredients necessary to purge your system of the poison properly." In fact, the cure Ash had given her contained a toxin of its own that too would have to be neutralized after what Morrigan had come in for first had been cleansed from her body but giving such details seemed unnecessary at the time. "To make a long story short, you will need constant doses of the improvised cure I did create. Changing the medication will likely kill you and seeing as how I was the one who created this," Ash held up a small vial filled with a clear liquid having a green tint that was Morrigan's medication, "getting another physician would be unwise."

    "
I suggest you get comfortable here. Is there anyone you would wish to notify about your condition?" He held out the vial towards Morrigan, knowing the taste of the medication would make any Mundane or Werewolf cringe. Making medicine taste good hardly seemed like a priority.

Hendrik's body had been moved from the elevator to the infirmary and had been watched over by Brianne he hadn't regained consciousness while the Silent Brother had done all he could for the Shadowhunter, it was enough, it made sure that the Nephilim wouldn't die and come back as one of the Nightchildren. He slept uneasily as the currents of sleep dragged him into feverish nightmares. Eventually the old Nephilim woke up, he didn't know how he had gotten into the infirmary and saw Brianne. "Either we're both dead.... or I am still alive don't know which is worse..." Hendrik said groggily, looking at the head of the Institute at the side of his bed. "How long was I out?" He asked her, he still was a bit out of it. Trying to push himself up but pain flared in his lower arm and shoulders, despite this he didn't stop, gritting his teeth. Damn vampires, thinking they could rise up against them, take them down, well he had to admit they were well on their way with killing him, the most senior Nephilim in the city. Then it hit him. "Roxanne... Nick... are they alright?" He asked Brianne "And what about yourself?" He sounded legitimately worried as the most senior Nephilim.

Brianne pushed herself upright, relief evident until she schooled her features into something more solemn. "We're okay, here. You seem to have gotten the worst of it." She sighed as she responded to Hendrik, running her fingers through her hair as she leaned back in the aluminum chair. "Someone, a Downworlder or someone siding with a Downworlder has taken the Mortal Cup from Alicante. We're supposed to be receiving more personnel and orders within the next few hours. What little word I have received from other Institutes is...grim."

They had gotten lucky, getting back to the Institute as quickly as they could. Others had lost countless Shadow hunters to the uprising Downworlders; the dead were still being counted. As New York had not been high on the priority list for demon hunting, they had not been as fully staffed as some of the others. Brianne supposed she could thank the Angel that she didn't have to worry about massive demon portals at the same time as everything else.

"The Silent Brother said you should make a full recovery in a few days. I managed to talk him into putting an accelerant on your healing, because of the circumstances." She got to her feet, genuinely tired. Her back ached, her legs ached, but most of all her head ached, and she just wanted to drop into a bed somewhere and not wake up until this mess was sorted. "I'm sorry I didn't get to you in time." She murmured. As the Head of the Institute, all Shadowhunters stationed in New York fell under her care. To have failed one of them was a heavy blow, especially since
Hendrik was the closest thing she had to a mentor.

Morrigan stared at Ash, each word dropping like a stone into her heart, weighing her down. She couldn't drag her eyes from vial that he held up. It was hard to believe that the tiny amount of liquid kept inside was all that separated her from life and death. "How soon will I need another?" She whispered, her breath hitching. All her life, she had been free within the constraints of the cage, albeit the large cage, her family had let her roam. Now....she was tied to a tiny little glass.

She took the vial, the smooth glass sliding between her fingers as she held it up for further examination. It looked like pond water, and she wished she could believe it was so, simply flinging it against the wall and walking straight out that door. She could do it too. Nothing was stopping her. Idiot. You're smarter then that. Five hundred years haven't taught you nothing. She wished against everything she knew that it had.

A wave of exhaustion washed over her, and she gripped the nearest surface, a counter. No doubt her body was trying to fight off the foreign substances in her body, and losing. Was this to be her life? Going from vial to vial like a drug addict, dependent on a strange
warlock for the promise of life as her body slowly decayed? That wasn't what she wanted. She would rather live an hour of freedom, then five hundred more years in another gilded cage.

"You can have it back. I don't want it." She said, opening her hand and letting the vial drop onto the counter with a clatter. The next wave forced her to sit where she could; the wooden floor. She blinked rapidly, forcing herself to remain conscious by sheer will alone. "I don't want another cage."

Nicholas was glad when they were let out of the room, he was getting really uncomfortable dealing with the strange woman. This is not what I signed up for. Finally though, they were lead to a bunk room and told to stay here, but Nick just wanted to sleep. Although he wasn't sure he'd be able to get any sleep if he tried, seeing a fellow shadow hunter like that, dying in a pool of his own blood... it really made everything seem real. Nick decided to wander around the institute, he couldn't stay in the same place, he was restless. Suddenly as he rounded a corner he came across a new face.
"Oh... uh... hello" Nick blinked in surprise. The young man was very handsome "Uh... are you supposed to be here?"

Morrigan had taken the news of her condition far worse than he thought. His black eyes fell upon the vial she put down and narrowed in annoyance at the woman's attitude after she refused to take it. "So you would rather allow yourself to become yet another victim? What would a few days of discomfort compared to centuries of life you still have in front of you?" Ash gripped Morrigan's shoulders and pulled her up though he did not take her to a more suitable position to sit down and, rather, gripped her tight so she would not fall. "You may not be the one to kill Masque but would you allow yourself to lose the opportunity to stand over the corpse of one who has mutilated so many?" His grip on the fairy's arms tightened.

    "
Fight! Cling to life. There is still good that you can do while you still breathe. Your death would be meaningless." Ash's eyes stared at the woman with a burning intensity no other still living had seen. He took a moment to breathe out and guided her to a chair at the counter, the fire in his eyes dying out as soon as it appeared. "Drink. Now. The world does not need another dead fairy."

Brianne seemed to become more animated when it had became evidently clear that Hendrik had survived. "Seems like my luck is holding up then." Hendrik said in a mocking tone. He listened when Brianne explained what had been going on. "I heard the voice just as we had hit a dead end on the trail of Masque..." He said, trying to remember what had happened. Rhett had stayed behind after he told him to not even get the idea of turning on him. Hendrik wasn't going to mention anything about that and doubted he could have taken the wolf on as easily as the 4 night children. Then again that fight hadn't been all that easy. She had mentioned that they were supposed to be receiving reinforcements oh jolly, more Nephilim, probably atleast one of the Clave as well to take over command if they deemed it right and from the current crisis he didn't put it beyond them to do just that.

She then explained that there had been an accelerant added to his healing simply because of the circumstances. "Well I'm not one for bed rest anyways, next time around talk him into doing it again. The quicker I am back on my feet, the quicker I can get going again." Hendrik stated simply, he didn't like sitting still, he was glad when he had operation after operation after operation only sleeping in between, no time for idle thought. But since he had gone to New York he had been driving himself up the walls and that wasn't just because he had nothing to do, but more with the reason why he was here. "It wasn't your fault, Brianne, don't blame yourself. I'll be alright, I survived that's all that matters, okay?" He told her looking her in the eyes.

"It wasn't my fault the Mortal Cup was stolen. It was my fault you were injured." She smiled in a slanted manner towards Hendrik, reaching to pat his shoulder, but hesitating, before smoothing the sheets for him and walking out. He needed rest, and she needed to contact the Clave. Fortunately Hendrik should be up within the next day or two, though she had no doubt he wouldn't spend the day in bed as he was told to do. She hardly felt comfortable telling him what to do, when he was nearly twice her age. Or at least she thought he was. The line between mentor and comrade blurred thin here, despite her best efforts to separate the two.

She walked past the makeshift bedroom they were sharing, pausing to see if anyone yet remained. Both
Nick and Roxanne were gone, and Brianne had to fight down momentary panic that something had happened to them. She went on, heading for the library, when she heard a rhythmic thunking. Poking her head in the training room, she spotted Roxanne, whittling away one of their training dummies to bits.

    Rather then interrupt the
girl, Brianne drew her stele, and silently crept up behind her. The next time Roxanne made to strike the dummy, or rather what was left of it, Brianne leaped in front and crossed blades with the girl. "Practice with me." She said simply, keeping her arm raised. "It's much better to spar with a partner then alone."

Talking to the Clave could wait a little longer. Besides, she wasn't ready to hear more bad news.

Morrigan stared at Ash, then her shoulders slumped. She grabbed the vial with twitching fingers and downed it, her face stone as she let the vial clatter to the counter, and dropped her head. She knew Ash was right, knew it, but she just felt defeated. As if she had just given up something important, something vital to herself. In her head she could hear the door of the cage swinging shut, and her eyes stung for a second with unshed tears.

"The world does not care about one more dead fairy." Morrigan felt the need to correct
Ash. But for some reason, you do. Probably that favor he somehow wanted to call in with her. She stared down at her hands, which lay in her lap. The veins darkened and then receded under her skin as the medicine took effect. "What now?" She asked dully, refusing to remove her gaze from her stilled fingers.

No doubt her mother and father were concerned about her disappearance, as well as her husband to be. Let them. Let them worry. She cared not for their suffering. How could she when she was so fixated on her own?

Alarick glanced at Nick, his lips twitching; the only signal he ever gave to show he was considering smiling. "I do believe I am, yes. Unless there is another building glamoured to look like an ancient house of worship, then I must have the wrong place. If so, please be kind enough to tell me which route I may take to find the current Institute.

He stood up straight now, all joking aside. "I'm looking for my sister, Brianne Lightwood. Last I heard, which was thirty minutes ago, she was still Head of the Institute. No wonder she never complained about the job. After all, it'd be a shame to let something so artistic to go to waste in the hands of the inexperienced." He looked
Nick over once again, a thorough look this time, before turning his gaze to the building. "It really is beautiful." He murmured, pulling on the mental cloak of authority that never seemed far away. "I would greatly appreciate if you could take me to my little sister." He spoke quietly once more, but his voice emanated confidence and strength. It was the same way he talked to the Clave, when necessary. "We have much to catch up on."

He kept the bundle held loosely at his side. He had confidence that should any of the Shadowhunters here turn traitor and try to foolishly take it from him, he would be able to incapacitate them long before they did the same to him.

Roxanne was hardly startled when Brianne stepped in front of her. She may have been being quiet, but with the fact Roxanne imagined this dummy as the thing that hurt Hendrick, she was ever vigilant. "Oooh sparing sounds fun! No one ever spars with me." Roxanne replied as she switched weapons from her kitchen knife to her Seraph blade, to match Brianne. A small smile appeared on her face as she jumped back from Brianne. "Just don't expect me to go easy on you because you are my superior. I will still beat you like any other loser." Roxanne stated.

It would be different when fighting with the Seraph blade, but she would make it work. She simply winked at
Brianne before running at her preparing to strike. However instead of striking right away she stopped and jumped over Brianne, doing a flip in the process, as she landed she drove her blade forward at Brianne's back. She kept on the balls of the feet though, ready to jump away at any point in time.

"Uh, no you are in the right place" Nick stated, he still wasn't sure who this guy was supposed to be, he looked like Mr Perfect. nick couldn't deny the man was attractive, but he seemed so smug and superior, he acted like he owned the place. "Please don't mention artistry, not with Masque around" Nick shuddered. Suddenly he felt the man's eyes on him... he murmured something about how the building was beautiful, but after that gaze... was this guy flirting with him? No, that was stupid. Nick shook his head, what would this high-ranking handsome man want with him? "Brianne? She's, uh, somewhere around here... sorry it's just things have been a bit hectic, you probably know about the whole cup thing, one of our shadowhunters was attacked by downworlders, and there was that issue with the demon, not to mention the warlock Masque killed a fairy and took her head and... sorry I'm rambling. She's probably somewhere this way"

    The North Atlantic Ocean, 1754

The amount of blood running across the deck, combined with the heavy rain and rocking ship, made it difficult to gain steady ground. Ash knew he had to win the battle quickly before the other enemy ship could turn around and attack his own vessel while it was still engaged in combat. The Warlock he was facing made no attempt to make it easy on him. The man, four centuries his elder, easily matched every move Ash made with a speed and strength easily surpassing that of a vampire. Even with the aid of Ash's magic, the Warlock's skills were greater still forcing Ash to remain on the defensive and losing ground with every passing moment. It took his all just to keep up with his parries, his arm shaking with each powerful vibration that struck through his sword and Ash worrying that his sword would break before his endurance would give out.

    "
Have you had enough, boy?" The Warlock snarled as their blades clashed.

    "
I was preparing to save this for another but..." Ash gritted his teeth as his strength began to fail him. He knew he had superior swordsmanship but for some reason, the Warlock had power beyond anything he had seen. Ash's shadow crawled up from the bloodied deck and snaked up from his leg to his arm covering it in the black darkness it was composed of. Just before he could make his move, the sound of cannon fire echoed in the skies. He broke away from the Warlock just in time to see the second enemy ship sinking his vessel. Before he could feel the weight of the lives he had just lost a blade was run straight through his chest.

Ash relaxed when Morrigan took her medication showing little to no discomfort in its taste. Either she had a stronger stomach than Rhett or the wolf complained far too much about taste. "I am glad you came to your senses. If you had held out a little longer I would have been made to force feed you." Taking a seat beside the fairy, Ash too looked down at the woman's hands knowing she was in pain other than what the poison had given her. Simply ignoring it and treating her barely any better than a piece of meat did not seem appropriate.

Lowering his usual distanced formal tone Ash spoke once more. "
Maybe the world may not care about your death but there are those who would. I wouldn't want you dead either. I've seen far too much death and too much injustice to just stand by and allow you to die. I understand this situation is less than ideal but you will live to look back on this as either a painful experience or, if you make the effort, something that wasn't all that bad." A pitch black hand, from his shadow, dragged a small white mug with steam rising out of it across the counter in Morrigan's direction. "I'm not a large fan of the drink myself but I believe some strong coffee might give you a little extra pep." His shadow returned to its normal position. "I hope you will not choose to be so stubborn about this too." He inched the mug closer towards the fairy.

    "
As for today, if you do not wish to contact your family I will understand but I still have some unfinished business to attend to. Rhett will be busy finding where to return those heads he recovered and returning them. Keeping you from dying prevented me from determining whether or not all those victims were fairies." Ash shook his head slowly as his eyes diverted to the ground. "There are some clothes that should fit you upstairs if you should choose to join me."

    His search for
Morrigan had gone poorly. After she did not return from speaking with the warlock last night her fiance, his brother, had told him to search for her. Thinking she had gone back to the club where Morrigan had investigated, Cin had questioned those at Pandemonium who had seen her to no avail. With the trail cold, he had little choice but to either retrace his steps or expand his search. He knew going backwards would lead to no results. He was very thorough. With the Mortal Cup having been stolen finding Morrigan before she could find herself in the midst of trouble was all the more important.

The Seelie Knight walked through the streets as he mulled over his possible courses of action. Returning without Morrigan would only mean shame. The only other organization large enough to spare someone to assist him in tracking her down was the Clave and now was hardly the time to be asking for favors. Still, what other option was left? Warlocks and the fey were never on good terms and finding one willing to help was just as far-fetched as it was to expect the Shadowhunters to aid him. When he finished weighing his options, he decided that calling on a warlock would remain his secondary choice. Heading to an Institute would be his first course of action.

Brianne grinned, her eyes sparkling with the fire of battle (even if it was pretend) as she turned, her stele meeting with Roxanne's. "I would expect no less from a fellow Nephilim." she replied, following up her parry with an upper cut towards the other girl's chest. It should be an easy blow to block. She was only testing Roxanne right now, seeing how good she really was. It was hardly fair to judge her after yesterday's events, and well, some sparring might do both of them some good.

Morrigan glanced sideways at the warlock before standing, keeping her legs from trembling. "I have a heart condition." she said, her tone solemn as she turned, walking through the door. Ash should know better then to believe the lie, but she would use any excuse to not drink the bitter liquid in the cup. She paused, hand on the doorway. "I'll go with you, to identify the bodies." She added in a softer voice. I owe them that much. She walked upstairs afterwards, keeping a firm hand on the banister in order to keep herself upright. Ash hadn't specified exactly where the clothes were, just "upstairs", but she was sure he meant the room she had woken in.

Sure enough, after some thorough searching, she managed to find suitable covering for her skin. She grimaced as she pulled the rough pants, known as "jeans" over her legs, buttoning them around her hips before turning and looking in the mirror. She sighed, moving her legs about experimentally before pulling open another drawer. Inside was a t-shirt, clearly made for a male, along with dresses and shirts clearly not from this time. She pulled them out, frowning slightly as she ran her hands over the fabric. The design looked 1920's, if she wasn't mistaken. She had hated the clothes from that time period too. She remembered the dresses from her childhood as some of the best fashion eras of humanity's life time.

Surrendering with a sigh, she grabbed the over-sized t-shirt and slipped it over her head, pulling her hair out from underneath the collar. It made her look much smaller then she was, and she sighed once more, annoyed. Perhaps it would be best to contact her own family after all, just to get some of her own clothing. She grabbed a handful of the t-shirt and twisted it at the hip, tying it into a knot so that it fit her better before heading back down the stairs, pausing for a moment to rest herself against the wall. When she got to the bottom, she sat on the stairs, resting her head against the wall until
Ash decided it was time to leave, when she realized. I forgot to find shoes.

Alarick raised an eyebrow at Nick's words. "It's been a terribly long time since I've been in this....beautiful building." Another twitch of the lips. "Would you please be so kind as to show me the way?" As he stepped towards Nick, he closed his eyes, suddenly annoyed. "Forgive me, but I do believe I forgot to introduce myself. I must apologize for being so rude." He held out a hand towards Nick. "Alarick Lightwood." Judging by the sounds coming from upstairs, my sister will be most pleasantly surprised. No doubt she hadn't contacted the Clave yet, and was finding some way to try and relieve the tension and pressure she felt.

Alarick nearly pitied his sister, nearly. After all, she had managed to get away from the family. She had managed to stay out from under their thumb. He couldn't say he had been as lucky.

Hendrik lay in bed as Brianne still blamed herself more for what had happened to him. "Listen, Brianne, that I was injured wasn't your fault. We're Nephilim all of us get injured at one point or the other. The person who has stolen the Cup is to blame for this, they riled up the Downworlders to rebel. The bastards who did this to me paid with their lives, every single one of them. I know you worry since on paper I am one of your charges, but you needn't worry about me. I have endured far worse and well look at this, still here." It wasn't entirely true that he had endured far worse very often as he implied and it hadn't been much worse since his parabatai had always been at his back, just like he had his parabatai's back. However he had been on the receiving end of the Clave's anger. "And well, here is where I'll stay if it's up to all the perfect examples of Nephilim in Alicante..." He said, but Brianne was already walking away he was uncertain as to whether or not she had heard him.

He let himself lie down on his back again and sighed. He really was the lucky one wasn't he, nearly getting himself killed apparantly. He didn't remember much of what had happened after the fight or how he had gotten back to the Institute, had she found him out on the street somewhere? Well she clearly was worried about his well being, so he decided not to throw the advice of the Silent Brother out of the window, the situation must have been hard on her. Such a young leader of an Institute, it would be hard on even the most experienced leaders to keep their flocks together in these dark times, better to not add even more problems to her already mounting pile of them. In the end he knew they were Nephilim and couldn't just sit around, they had to guard humanity against the demons and renegade downworlders and well to protect sometimes meant to lay down one's life and he both didn't mind when it was his turn and dreading that day when it would happen.

Roxanne not only blocked with ease, but as she did she put pressure on Brianne's stele, using the force to try to knock it aside while she leaped back. Standing away from Brianne, Roxanne cracked a smile and giggled. "Come on. You are better than that, make it really fun!" She stayed. "Like this!" Running forward Roxanne faked an attack left, moved right instead dropping down. From there she swung her leg around to take out Brianne's leg. From there she stood up again, ready for whatever happened next. The girls eyes sparkled with delight at this fight, her mind slowly calming back down.

Ooc. Phone post is a go. Will add the picture and the colours when I get home.

Nick gratefully took the man's hand "Nicholas Nightwine. You can call me Nick" He stated, he hung onto the man's hang for a bit longer than normal, indecisively, then let go abruptly and turned on his heel, heading around the institute. He could hear sounds of battle coming from the training room, and knocked lightly on the door "Uh, Brianne, some guy claiming to be your brother's here"

Alarick's eyes glinted. "Strong grip." he commented as he followed the Shadowhunter towards the training room. "I didn't just claim it." He whispered in Nick's ear as he passed by to stand in front of the younger Shadowhunter. "All you have to do is look at us to see the family resemblance. Right, Brianne?"
His sister whirled, her seraph blade cutting through the air. Without dropping the bundle his left arm was wrapped around, he pulled his own blade out and parried the blow. "Hello, sister."

Brianne slid to the side, avoiding Roxanne's attack as she grinned in response, her adrenaline beginning to respond to the other Shadowhunter's attempts to get past her defense before attacking with a slash of her own. Seeing the other girl's leg sweeping towards her own, she tucked and rolled. A voice from behind her startled her, and she reacted, turning as her arm brought the stele down. It clashed, sparks flying as she stared into eyes as familiar as her own.

And they should be, they were a mirror image. "Alarick." She breathed out, lowering her weapon. He did the same, sheathing it with the same blank look he always carried. But not always. There was a time when you smiled too, brother. "What are you doing here?" She asked, her gaze changing from his face to the bundle he carried. No...there's no way.

    "
We need to speak. In private." The look he gave her indicated there was no room for negotiating.

Ash clasped his hands behind his back as he patiently waited at the bottom of the stairs for Morrigan to finish dressing. He had never offered her the opportunity to identify the bodies. While she was getting ready he took the time to make a call to Rhett to find where he was on the list of tasks he was to complete today.

    "
Yessssss massssterrrrrr." Came a raspy voice.

    "
I met the inspiration for Igor. He did not sound like that. Nor did he have a hunchback."

    "What? Really? You never told-"

    "
Where are you currently? I am bringing our guest along to identify the heads. I trust that you are now carrying them in a more suitable container than a cardboard box."

    "
Just dropped off her dress for cleaning and repairs. And of course they're in a better place! I mean...physically. Not spiritually. But probably spiritually too. What do fairies believe in anyways?"

Sighing, Ash pressed the palm of his hand to his forehead. "
Just stay put. We will meet with you soon." Hanging up without waiting for a response, Ash looked back towards the stairs just as Morrigan emerged from the guest room wearing clothing he would have never have guessed her to pick out. He raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her fashion choice. As she descended the stairs, showing all the grace he would expect for one of her kind Ash took a moment to head over towards the counter, looking at the bookcase that rested behind it to count the vials he had prepared. Taking one in his coat, just in case they would spend longer than he planned working on business, he walked back to Morrigan.

    "
By the look on your face, you do not seem to appreciate that style of clothing." He looked down to take note of her lack of shoes. A trait of her personal taste apparently. Ash did not mind. "This house once belonged to another. The glamour that surrounds this place is a great deal more powerful than most ever encounter in a lifetime but it was not placed here by me. I would bet that you would be more fond of the only garment I managed to store away that matches our own time." Without further explanation Ash held his hand out towards Morrigan in an attempt to help her stand.

    "
Are you sure you would not wish to put shoes on? I would hate to have you injured while simply walking about."

Roxanne was on her feet but crouched down waiting for what happened next with Brianne. The girl rolled out of the way, but then nothing. She didn't attack because some jack*ss decided it was fine time to interrupt. Roxanne stood up straight and rolled her eyes. She didn't like it but she had to. Though as she walked past Alarick towards the door, an idea came into her head.

    Behind
Alarick, Roxanne turned around and pointed her blade at Alarick's back. "You interrupted my sparing match. I don't like that. If you want to talk to Brianne you have to defeat both of us in a duel. It should be that hard, after all you are the brother that Brianne spoke about who spends so much time with the Clave. If you are that good, what it two little old Nephilim?" Roxanne taunted with a giggle. "If we win you owe me ice cream." She then added before jumping away for a moment. Her eyes sparkled thinking about the fact that he probably wouldn't know how she fought and how much that would work to her advantage.

Alarick didn't move as Roxanne pointed the sword at his back, but simply raised an eyebrow at Brianne. "Do you let all your subordinates treat you this way?" He asked, eyes flicking in the direction Roxanne jumped, but otherwise ignoring the gesture. "We really need to-" But did they?

Alarick wrestled between doing his duty and teaching the upstart a lesson. You didn't threaten Alarick Lightwood and get away with it. He was fine with playing around, but weapons were not toys, and the way that girl handled hers, he doubted she had ever been taught responsibility. Or at least, re-educated.

Besides, it wouldn't hurt to show what he was capable of. And yes, maybe a little tiny part of him wanted to show off. He sighed, and readjusted his grip on the bundle. "Fine. One match. I'll only use one hand, but then Brianne has to fight. It wouldn't be fair otherwise." He glanced at his sister, looking almost bored, before she nodded reluctantly and readied herself.

"Well then." He made sure to step away from
Nick before shrugging out of his coat and tossing it to the side. "Come get me."

Brianne winced as Roxanne pointed the blade at her brother. You never do that. The Angel must have been watching, because Roxanne jumped away before Alarick chose to react, though she was treated to a stare from her sibling. She shrugged helplessly, unable to explain the other female Shadowhunter's behavior. At least Alarick would never agre- "Fine."

Brianne barely kept her jaw from dropping open as her brother named the terms before glancing at her. She shut her eyes in frustration, before sighing and stepping forward, whipping her stele through the air a few times before standing in front of him. And he didn't even draw his stele. Her heart sank, but she narrowed her eyes, determined. She would give it her best effort, at least, and show her brother that she and her "subordinates" weren't to be taken lightly. She attacked first, aiming for his stomach with the stele.

Morrigan took Ash's hand reluctantly, letting him help her to her feet. She remembered a time when it was expected of women to lean on men for everything, but it wasn't her way. Never had been. "I was more fond of this then the 1920's." She replied, staring down at her outfit one last time before shaking her head in response to his next question. "I'd prefer to be as close to the earth as possible."

Even wearing court finery, she still went barefoot. It was one of the few rebellions she had incited in herself, in those early days. The habit hadn't died, long after she had been allowed more numerous freedoms. "Your concern is noted, but unnecessary. I've been doing this for three hundred years." She meant the question in regards to her bare feet, but the statement gave her pause. What exactly had she been doing for the last three hundred years, besides living in a gilded cage?

"Let's get this over with." She pushed those thoughts away for now, and settled for following
Ash. Once her brothers and sisters were identified, then she could see about perhaps making the best of this situation, as the warlock had said.
