I almost exclusively use couple to refer to two of something; I have a vague memory of using it differently when I was younger and being told that it was incorrect lol, so I've used it that way since then. Bit different for everyone though obviously.
I think usually if I'm talking about more than that I use "a few". :V

I consider "a few" and "a couple" to be mostly interchangeable, but to me "a few" is three or more whereas "a couple" is two or more.

like if you say "a couple of days ago" it doesn't strictly mean two days ago

Think of a couple in a relationship. Only two people are involved. A few is three or more, but at the same time, not many.
