    Just saw this.

First let me say no, they didn't change anything story/scene wise. As for 3D well... the quality was just incredible from when I saw it in theaters as a kid but the 3D itself there isn't too much of. It's mostly just when they turn their heads and things like that it pops out a little bit, nothing that ruins the movie in any way though. I still get the chills watching the stampede part. But yeah it's still my favorite Disney movie and if you loved the original then go see it for sure, loved seeing it in theaters again. One of the few movies that I feel deserve to be in theaters again actually.

The Lion King is one of my favourite films of all time (Top 2). I don't really care that it's in 3D I just want to see it in the cinema again. I still remember seeing it when it was released all those years ago. It's still an amazing film to this day.

    I saw it...in 3D...on Friday..ahhhhhhhhhhmazing.

I know it's the same movie I've watched dozens of times, but seeing it on the big screen(3D or not, it was actually kinda neat in 3D) was pure nostalgic awesome.

You're probably wondering "What the hell?", but, during the trailer for the Lion King 3D re-release, I cried a bit. I don't even know why.

To be honest, it's understandable, I cry through the entire film usually.

Does the 3D make a huge difference? Or is it more the fact that it's on a huge screen and you are experiencing in cinematically?

I'm gonna go see it tomorrow in 3D.

I know that there's a special surprise at the end, so i'm gonna hope that it lives up to my expectations, which I KNOW it will~

Not really, I mean the quality is great but they went pretty light on the "obvious" 3D I guess you could say. Just mostly "oh his face pops out a little bit here", which is pretty cool actually. So yeah... worth seeing again for the quality upgrade I guess on the big screen.

I too am going to see it tomorrow in 3D. We're all going with Kleenex. Mom has made a bet with me that my box will be half empty by the end of 'Circle of Life'.

Maka made a spamzone thread about it.

I didn't watch it so that I could remain surprised the first time.

in my opinion when good kid movies like lion king and toy story get old they put them back up in 3D(every decade or so) for the new generation of kids to see(like next decade they will say its in HD(just a theorie ))

and its not a bad idea.

Yes I agree, as well as a way to make more money out of the film. However, I think that is reasonable as I want the generation to know what Disney REALLY is and I also know that Disney is a business that wants to make money so fair enough to them. I just hope this generation enjoys them as much as our generation did.

I don't know what "surprise" you're talking about..the best surprise I got was that they didn't include that dreadful report song.

As for the addition of 3D, it just made the movie pop more in my opinion. The quality along with the 3D did made it look amazing. With or without the 3D it was more about seeing it on the big screen than anything.

i mean, i agree that movies like lion king ARE masterpieces but honestly: the just use that hole digital 3D thing as an excuse, like i just said i do think that lion king is a master piece but they should get to work its been a long time since they made a kick-as$ movie.

    I saw it yesterday 8D

    I alternated between crying and singing along to the songs. And I'm pretty sure I did not cry as hard as a four-year-old when Mufasa died ;.;

My six- and four-year-old cousins enjoyed it too, although I hated not being able to say that 'It's gonna be okay' in the stampede scene >.<

The Lion King has always been one of my all time favorite movies. However, I find it almost disgraceful that they would bring it back into theaters in 3D. Just seems like a way to squeeze more money out of the franchise, in my personal opinion.
So while everyone's out watching it in 3D, I'll be perfectly happy watching my VCR version here at home. :)
    Oh wait...VCR's don't exist anymore... o_O
Eh, I guess I might go see it after all. :D

Saw it this afternoon, and I didn't get past the opening "Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" note before the tears flowed XD.

I thought it was good, but I'm probably biased because that movie's been such a huge part of my life growing up. The 3D was good in parts and didn't feel too cheesy, given the fact that the original wasn't intended to be 3D.

And nothing's going to beat my whole row bursting out in song during 'Hakuna Matata'. That was fun.

I didn't catch the surprise at the end, though. We stayed all the way through the end credits, the lights were back on, and a few employees came in to clean the theater and were looking at us funny, and nothing came on so I guess there wasn't one to be had...?
