"I wouldn't know where to begin..."

 

Kai stood up and walked toward the inn.

 

"Let's go, Michael."

"Right..."

Michael followed Zephyr and Kai to the inn.

 

Kai sat at a table and ordered something to drink.

 

"Barkeep, give me some ale."

"Comin' right up."

"I want some ale too."

"Don't be stupid, Zephyr. You don't need to be drinking ale."

"Then neither do you!"

Zephyr shattered the mug of ale.

 

Kai just drank her cup of tea quietly.

 

"Two teas, please."

"Sure. Here ya go."

"Here, happy?"

"I am now."

"Good, because you still owe me fifty gold for earlier."

"Sure, whatever..."

Michael overheard heard two men talking at the bar.

"Yeah, I heard the king of that ruined city was pretty corrupt. That guy at the end of the bar kind of resembles his kid."

"Right, I heard the prince's mother was a real whore."

Michael walked up to the men and started choking the man who insulted his mother.

"What would you know about my mother, vermin?!"

 

Kai merely sighed at Michael, and continued to drink her tea.

 

The other man swung his fist at Michael. He caught it and broke the man's arm.

"You two aren't worth the trouble." He dragged the men to the door and threw them outside.

"Thanks a lot for that, man. They had way too much to drink."

"Whatever, just give me some more tea..."

 

Kai turned her face away from Michael when he sat up. She sighed.

 

"What's wrong, Kai?"

 

"Ever since you mentioned your mother, I kept thinking about my own. I know she's alive, but I don't know where. I can't get her out of my mind."

 

"I know what you mean..."

 

Kai looked at Michael. "If she did remember you, I wonder what she would say about our engagement. Probably really happy."

 

"I would imagine so."

 

"Lets not talk about it anymore." Kai turned away from him.

 

"Right, that subject was starting to get me depressed..."

"Me too."

 

Kai smiled, and turned to Michael.

 

Michael looked out of the window. It was already nighttime.

"It got dark awfully quick..."

 

Kai nodded and stood up. "Good night, Michael....." She went up to her room.
