Kai smiled. She turned to Michael. "Michael...... How do you remember your mom?"

 

Michael sighed.

"I never really knew my mother. She died after I was born....."

 

Kai smiled, and said, "Well, I know my mother had my eyes. My father had my hair."

 

"Where's Cliff? Last time I saw him, I put him to sleep...."

 

"I don't know." Kai looked around, and stood up. "I'm going up....." She left the inn.

 

"Guess I'll go walk around town."

Michael left the inn.

 

Kai walked into the forest, and tried not to think about her past. When she was just calm, she heard a voice.

"There you are."

Kai turned around and found a bottle of what looked like eyeballs inside at her feet. She saw a man with a knife standing in front of her.

"Remember that, murderer?" he asked. "The eyes you ripped off my brother before killing him?"

Kai just stared at him.

 

Cliff was walking through the woods. He saw Kai and called out to her.

 

"Cliff! Stay out of this!" Kai shouted, turning to the man. "Let me give you of mine." She reached toward her left eye.

 

"What are you talking..." he saw the man. When he looked back at Kai, she was reaching toward her eye. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"

 

Kai turned to Cliff. "Time you knew. I killed a lot of people when I was nine. Because my father was taken."

 

"Okay, but what are you doing to your eye?"

 

Kai turned to the man, and reached toward her eye. Ripping out it of her socket, she threw toward the man. "Here! A gift! Since I did the same to your brother!" She reached her other eye this time.

 

"Hey you!" Someone shouted from behind a tree. It was the bandit from the other night, and he was holding Zephyr.

"You again? What do you want?"

"Vengence. You remember those boys you killed. One of them was my son."

"Your son and his friends beat me, broke my bones and left me to die. Besides I was possesed by a demon when I killed them."

"Don't try to lie to me, murderer! I'm going to make you pay for what you've done, and I'm going to start with your child.

 

Kai almost ripped her right eye out, and dropped her hand. She ran toward the man and killed him. Quickly, she ran back to town and found Michael. "Michael!"

 

Cliff picked up her eye and followed her.

 

"Stay back, or I am going to kill this child!"

"Leave her out of this, it's me you want!"

"I'll deal with you in due time. First, I shall make you experience how its feels to lose a child to a killer."

The man started to raise his knife to Zephyr's throat. Zephyr closed her eyes and delivered a mental shock to the man, making him drop her.

"Damn you, you little wretch! I guess I'll just have to kill you first."

He turned towards where Michael was standing, but he was no longer there. Michael dropped from the sky, swinging his sword down, slicing the man in two.

"Took you long enough!" Zephyr said, clinging on to Michael's leg.

 

"Zephyr, are you all right?" Kai asked.

 

"Despite the fact that I nearly got 'killed', I'm doing just fine. Your not looking too good though..."

"What happened to you, Kai?"

 

"Kai!" he said, catching up to her. "I can reattatch your eye!"
