"I want her to remember what she did. Right, Kai? All the blood you slipped."

Kai turned to her, and shouted, "Do you know how many lives I had to get because you kidnapped my father! I feel like killing you like I did than!" She didn't even a pair of white wings appear on her back.

 

Michael staggered back.

"No, impossible. You aren't keldon, but yet you have wings....."

"What are you waiting for, boy?! Exorcise that spirit!"

He used one of the techniques he read in the Apocryfa of Yzark to eliminate the spirit. He then turned his attention back to Kai.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

 

Gee....no wonder the two of you were meant for each other....

 

"I didn't even know myself."

Kai looked at her wings, then looked at Michael's.

"But they're different from yours. Why?"

But then the spirit of her father appeared, she fell to her knees. "Father......"

 

"All keldon wings are different. But this means your father must have been....."

"I hate to break up this emotional scene, but I suggest you get back to your body, kid, or you're going to be stuck here."

"Alright already!"

Michael left Kai's mind and re-entered his body. When he stood up and looked at Kai, he saw her white wings.

"So I guess I'm not the only half-breed..."

"What's the matter? Are you dissapointed?"

"To be honest, I'm happy."

"I'll never understand you mortals."

 

Kai woke up and saw her wings.

"Guess when I came to terms with my past, they appeared. So my parents must have been....."

She turned to Michael and smiled. "I'm not alone anymore....."

 

"Those wings look beautiful on you." Michael said, smiling.

 

Kai blushed at the comment. "Thanks. If this town had a blacksmith, maybe I could get armor like yours."

 

"I'll have my grandpa make you some new armor. He used to be a smith. Besides, with your new wings, you are going to need something more comfortable, if you want to use them, that is."

 

"Okay." Kai smiled. "I might use them, ya know."

 

The two walked, hand in hand, to Michael's grandparent's house.

"Grandpa, fire up the forge. We need a suit of armor made."

"Ok, I'll get right on it." Garin said.

"We might as well eat while we are here."

 

"Yeah!" Kai sat down in a chair.

 

They sat down and enjoyed a nice meal. After a while, Garin came out with a white suit of armor that looked identical to Michael's.

"Go ahead, try it on." Garin said as he handed Kai the armor.

 

Kai took the armor and tried it on. She walked outside to show Michael and his grandparents.

"Well, what do you think?"

 

"Looks good. You did a good job grandpa."

"Well, I'm not one to brag, but I did put my heart and soul into that armor. Now if you could bring me some great grandchildren...."

Michael fell out of the chair.

"Grandpa! Stop saying things like that!"

Garin laughed. "Still can't take a joke...."

"I think I like your grandpa, boy."

"Now don't you get started on me too, you old lecher!"

The dragon just laughed.

 

Kai laughed, too. But she put her hand on her stomach, close to where she got the wound that never healed.

 

"Well, we had better get back to the inn. We need to be well rested for tomorrow."
