Yes, they're making an Avatar movie from the comical cartoon series, Avatar TLA.

However I know only of a teaser site and it's predicted release date.

http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=44129, this is the page on Comingsoon.com.

The release is set for July 2, 2010. But knowing all movie makers, it'll be bumped up, or back.

    M. Night Shyamalan is directing this masterpiece, and there's a link to the teaser site on the above link. Here you can dispute on ideas for the story, or whatever, everyone else made a movie thread.

this is going to go one of two ways: Great the must see movie of the year, OR terriable not worth seeing at all, depends on the special effects and the look of the actors in the movie...

Here are some scans that came out about a month ago. They make this movie out to be pretty cool, and have an interesting ambience about it. Looks like Serious Business!

This one is a photo of a lone Airbender surrounded by a platoon of Fire Nation mooks. The lighting effects are amazing.
    Scan 1

A cool, behind the scenes shot of Noah as Aang, posing on set.
    Scan 2

Mister Director Himself. Standing in front of Fire Nation armor on a Fire Nation ship. Nice.
    Scan 3

It seems so interesting! I can't wait to see this adaptation, as I loved the series in the first place!

all i can say is... they better not fuсk this up.
I am a huge fan of Avatar, and I'm really hoping they treat the series with respect. From what I've seen, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
The casting choices for Katara, Sokka, and Zuko seem completely ridiculous, from what I've seen it doesn't look they capture the characters at all.

The casting choice for Aang is...questionable, at best. The direction for him seems off as well; in every single picture I've seen of him on the set, he has the exact same plain facial expression. It doesn't capture Aang's fun, childish goofyness in the slightest.

I really hate that Shyamalan put his name in the title. It just seems very pretentious to me. If he makes an original film I can stand it, but this doesn't belong to him.

Other than that, I pretty much have the same gripes as Bushido. I'm eager to see how it will turn out, but depending on what reviews say I might not go to see it.

Did you expect them to be Eskimo?

Anyways, I'm with Nova and Bushido. I loved the series. The anime style of it made it unique to the fact that it was American, not Japanese or Korean.

If I remember right, they said it'll be a trilogy? I hope they include Toph and Appa. Haven't kept up with the details.
The main thing that gets me is how young Aang looks.
I know how he was young in the show, but it was animated. Live action just seems weird to having a 12 year old hero, but eh.

    The Last Airbender Theatrical Trailer

    M. Night Shyamalan's new film, The Last Airbender, is set to be released July 2 of this year.

You may have seen the Super Bowl Spot this past week. Well, now here's something even more exciting. Yahoo debuted the new 2 minute (well, almost two minute) theatrical release of movie.

Looks like M. Night might pull this one off. Liking it. =]

EDIT: Whoops, the above link is broken. Here's another one.

They can't fit the WHOLE show in one movie though.

Yeah, they're doing the first movie based on the first season of the show. It's no surprise that they're gonna cut out some stuff from that as well. As long as they emphasize the important parts of the story, then it should be okay.

Nice, three days after my birthday. Hopefully my board exams won't get in the way of me seeing this.

I hope he pulls it off. I remember getting excited when I found the pictures for Katara and Sokka and how spot on the actors looked.

No complaints from me. It looks like it won't actually suck at all.
Okay, my only actual complaint is that it might be too serious. That's a minor complaint btw.
Otherwise, I'm in support for this film, for now.

What do you guys think? (The one on the right is photoshopped, but it gives you an idea of how it would look) I definitely like the right one more, but it seems that they will put the left one in the movie.
Also, the scar could be more obvious and he should have had just one eyebrow.
Lovin' the arrow tattoo tho, it looks effin' awesome. Way better then just a blue arrow on the head.

i still have to ask why were they changed Zuko or whatever his name is, I mean the others are ok, they pass as americans in the cartoon (Aang, Katara, Toph) But for Zuko i was all like "wow, is that really you?" But oh well, i dont really care.

As for the whole trailer itself, it could possibly boost M. Nights bad streak he is having of late.

Sorry to spoil the fun, the fangasms and all...but..

After seeing the cast in the movie...and this trailer...
I honestly think this movie won't be too great...
I mean, too much special effects...more realistic fighting tied in with a better cast would be better.(By realistic I mean not as much bending displayed in the series.)

Who knows? It might turn out pretty good....but that's just my opinion for now until I see it.

It looks really good. :D I hope they keep Aang's childish nature like he was in the cartoon, it made it fun... and during some parts added a lot of depth to a scene that a maturer Aang wouldn't be able to do.
