I don't understand why young adults feel that suicide is an 'escape'.

i haven't heard of many kids killing themselves over here but they always try to self-harm themselves. Which i can kinda understand why, but i totally disagree on that being a solution to their problems just like suicide.

yeah, I noticed that many kids want to kill themselves. I also noticed that the reasons are always the same:
    - no/or very litlle friends
    - they think that everybody hates them
    - constant rejections
I to am a litlle deprresed but I would never kill myself. Oh and many people think that suicide is an escape because they think that there is a better life after death. I hope that this statment didn't insult anybody.

They do it because they feel trapt, this idea that no matter who they talk to, they won't care about their problems at all. And put it in perspective a 15 year old how was dump because of blind love that turned out to infatuation, doesn't know crap. But because they can be so hard headed into saying that they don't need help, that is why they feel no one will help, instead of looking in the right places for help.

i think its that young people expect too much out of live. when things dont go the way they had planned they think, what did I do wrong? they put themselves down, blaming themselves for anything and everything that goes wrong. this shuts them off from everyone else around them cutting off any potential help. then they might turn to suicide.
tbh i at one point considered suicide in one of my very negative mood swings. but its just too final and permanent of a thing to do, especially in your teenage years your always changing your mind.
also, i think that young people are made to grow up too quickly so having to deal with things at an age where they cant handle it. im only 16 and im already worried about interest rates, house prices, terrorism, politics etc

i agree that kids these days are expected to grow up too early. Sometimes they're forced to grow up too early. Be it their parents expect too much from them out of school or they just have high expectations for themselves.

Suicide is often viewed as an easy way out for those kids who feel they don't belong. 'Oh no one would miss me.' 'No one would notice I'm gone.' 'The world would be better without me here.' If people just say/think this once it's often not a big deal.

It's when the thought circles around in their minds constantly or it's said a lot from them.

Women are more likely to attempt suicide, men are more likely to succeed.
Women also use the less violent means such as overdoseing on sleeping pills while men use the guns and nooses.

Also a side note, if the suicidal behavior is caused by a mental disorder, Men are less likely to seek help because they see this behavior as a weakness. They'd rather not admit to the fact they have a disorder like Depression for fear of what society as a whole will think of them.

I agree. Most people who commit suicide are cowards who can't handle there life and they want to run away, but can't and see suicide as there only escape route.

However, there is a small percent of these people who really do need help and end up getting bundled together with the emo group...

there were actually always a large number of people considering suicide. once shadow had the courage to step forward so did other people. so it's less that there are suddenly a lot it's more that they're are suddenly more visable. i won't go into what causes it to begin with though. everyone else seems to have done a nice job.

I have bi-polar disorder, which really sucks because everyone is always worried about me. I used to be suicidal, sometimes I still am. The three main reasons I've ever wanted to end my own life were:
    - Low self esteem.
    - People taunting me, and pushing me around.
    - Lying so much that it put so much guilt and stress on my shoulders I couldn't take it.

But, I've matured a lot from then. I stopped caring about people pushing me around and started pushing back. Anyway, from my own experience, I've learned people want to kill themselves because of people, stress and guilt, parents (abuse, sexual harassment etc..) and a lot more reasons.

Though, I may think about suicide randomly, I never get close to ever doing it because I know the damage it will cause.

well....i personally think it's becuz the world is getting worse with every passing day. i mean, by the time we're adults, we'll prolly be out of oil and maybe even drinking water. they might see it as saving themselves from misery. but i admit that they are pretty stupid for doing that. often times, they are taking things much more seriously than they should, like ppl teasing u at school. they do it cuz they dont' see any other way to get out of sadness

i think there just bored w/ life an cant see the point of living. that an a combonation of stress from skool an low self-esteem. i mean the easier life gets the less there is to do an the more they think of what there supposed to be doin w/ there life an cant b/c there too young an cant do anything. theyd feel kinda useless. does that make sense?

They got it pretty damn good in Canada too.
Kids... one break-up and they're emo.
    that's why they shouldn't date.
    also Bullying causes it.
here's what i say to emo kids (sorry if i defy my good grammar):
    STFU n00bz!!!11one kthxbai
    or in a non-n00bish way:
    Here's a Therapist, get help.
This applies only to the emo KIDS

yeah...my best friend since 2nd grade committed suicide. I never knew why and I sort of don't want to know why becasue I could never forgive her. I still don't. But I do miss her and I wish I could've helped her with whatever that was wrong.

I think she was depress and from what I know - family problems. I don't understand either, I'm too much of an optomist I suppose but thats probably besides the point. I see suicide as a cowardly way out of things and life. I feel like I have to get through these things and if there is a bad thing there will eventually be a good side to things.

My other firned ((well, I['m not friends with her anymore)) cut herself and I founds suichide notes to all of us ((our friends)) in her journal. Honestly, life isn't THAT BAD once you take a look at it. Count all the blessings and good things you DO have. I mean, yeah, life sucks, but you ((or they)) aren't the only ones who are living it lol.

we all are - >.> and some ppl deal with it and some ppl dun. Plus, if you think ((or they think - who am I addressing ... er... i forgot)) that no will miss you once you are away - oh my, you are TERRIBLY TERRIBLY wrong. My friend thought that - butat her memorial, I saw ppl that I haven't seen since middle school and we were all crying, I saw this one girl who I never seen cry so hard before - the people around you DO get affected...

    I think I just made a huge tangent =p

basically, people just got tired of dealing with problems.

    right? >.>

I can admit that I've thought about it a lot. I had depression in High school so I basically felt like the lowest form of scum imaginable 24/7. That kind of thinking really can wear down on a person and eventually it just snaps.

I've never lost anyone I knew to suicide and I'm thankful of that.

I guess what made me not kill myself was my family. I know they'd be crushed if I went through with it.
