latelly i have seen that many kids want to kill them self, why do you think that is? and why so many latelly? i for one dont see any point to it, why end your life just cause of one bad thing? you only get one life why end it before you really get into it?

I agree that suicide is pointless, and should never be a option no matter how bad things may seem in life. But here's why it happens.

    1. Depression
    2. Poor enviroments
    3. Arguements/deaths of friends or family members
    4. Fear
    5. Drugs/alcohol

People consider suicide to be a "escape route" from these problems, instead of facing the world and dealing with it themselves. Like I said before, suicide is not the answer and there are always friends (rather it be online or at school) that are always willing help you get through these rough times.

Many people do it because the little reasons why are just to much for them to handle so they need an escape, now there are others who have so much stuff going on in they're head that it seems like the only smart thing for them to do..........lots of people think about it and lately many have done it, I admit I think about it alot but I'm sane enough to know what the consequences are for it and I personlly don't like them :\

Back when we needed numbers to keep our species from dying out, this sort of thing never happened. People were so focused on surviving that they didnt have time to even THINK about terminating their life.

The easier life becomes, the less we're willing to adapt to our surroundings. We make our surroundings adapt to us. And when thats not possible, we become depressed. Thats our biggest flaw.

My father committed suicide when I was 3. Never met him, and I dont care to at this point. Ill never know what Im missing out on, so I guess in a way its easier that I never got to know him.
He'd lapsed into depression when he was a teen then again for his midlife crisis. He didnt make it out alive. Suicide is very complicated, and scientists arent really sure what exactly causes it...

It's because they hate their lives and want it to stop. This usually is triggered by abuse, rape, death, hate, and MANY other things...the list is too long for me to even think of. It's sad, though...it really is....

It's mostly due to stress of society and peers around the individual.

The amount of outcasts has drastically increased in the last generation or two, I think, anyway.

Often times morals and 'normal' things are pushed on them, so they feel out of place, therefore making them all depressed because they're not 'perfect' by the social orders definition of 'normal' and 'perfect'.

    Kinda complicated. o.o

Because they're noobs. They don't know how good they got it in America.

They to suck it in, and actually take control of thier lives.

    Yep. My thoughts exactly-
*edit* well sorta. I thought you meant like what I said before, but Im thinking not at this point? We do have it great here, we really do! But it is true that this is not an America-specific problem...

I'm sorry but what the **** are you talking about?

Suicidal is a strong feeling that you obviously know nothing about by that comment, if you have never felt that feeling you shouldn't be talking like that. What the hell does America have anything to do about it? Suicide happens all over the damn world not just in America.

and taking control of their lives? What's that supposed to mean? Are you basically saying that I shouldn't take control of my own life and let whatever happen to it happen? That's just pure BS to me I'm sorry.

Actually this is true as well. The less reliant we become on others, and the more intraverted we are, the higher the risk of suicide.
Humans need interaction. Without it, they litterally cannot live, cannot function. And as technology advances it isolates people & they branch off and live their lives in solitude 0_0

Or people need to toughen up. Bad things happen, they always have and always will; yet ending your life for the simple reason that someone doesn't like you? In my opinion, that simply shows the way our society is weakening.

There is truth in that I admit, and the part about humans needing to be kinder to each other, that's called a utopia which will never happen.....at least that's what I think, everyone's entitled to their own beliefs :\

We humans are noobs. (We're about 10 billion years old or something),
when other creatures were here when the Earth was young, we've only been here for a short amount of time and we've caused all this damage to the Earth.

Now, with all this shooting, drugs, pollution and all that nasty crap, we are gonna blow each other out of extinsion. Us humans are gonna be angry to each other for all eternity and there's nothing we can do about it, Chuck. We've always been mean to each other, cause of noobs like Bush, want to be money hungry oil nub,
starting wars, and putting our lives in danger. (Lil' off topic, but I feel better for saying it. XD)

I think people put way to much pressure on themselves, they feel like oh, because I don't have friends or am not "popular" whats the point. Yes it can be triggered by tramatic experiences like FireNanaki said but, lets face it kids these days put so much on themselves and only live for the moment, they don't realize that, in 10 years you won't know these people, and the people you are try to be like will be working a minimum way job cause they didn't care about what is important. And that would be getting the highest education possible. But because they are so hard on themselves they resort to the last possible idea in their heads...death. Kids need to look to a better future, not to what is happening now.

Reminds me of the unlearned folk who insist that mental illness such as depression is a weakness.

But that's another topic on the forum entirely.

Anyway, the two highest groups for suicide are teens and the 65+ age group. Both ages deal with changes. Graduating high school/entering college/moving out and in many cases for the elderly, the onset of Alzheimer's and dementia.

Most teens are also at risk for Depression. Add in depression to a high school grad moving away from home for the first time. A scarey thing in most cases.

This is also a hard time for kids. The knowledge they could be, at any moment, shipped over to Iraq. And recently with the shooting at VTech, they don't even feel safe on their college campuses/schools anymore.

Usually it's a cry for help when you hear someone say 'I'm going to kill myself' and it's not always so clear as that. The person wants that outlet of: 'Anything you want to talk about?' You're not a certified therapist of course but DON'T say 'Are you stupid?' or 'Are you crazy?' or anything of that sort. That's just MORE likely for them to go through with the act.

Just be understanding of the individual and offer to keep the lines of communication open. Might just save a life.

A senior at school committed suicide during last weekend. People said that he shot himself and because of drugs. >_>
Why do people do this... -_-

To be honest it's a real shame why young people commit suicide or want to. They are so young & they still have their whole lives in front of them. If their lives are so bad why don't they go seek help or counsel & try to change things around.
I know it's not always that easy but it's better than killing yourself.
