Prolouge Neoph sat in his room, reading a book. he was an avid reader. his parents had gone out on business about a week ago and they would arive back at the house any minute now. the doorbell rang. Neoph looked up and ran to the door, his face full of excitement. he opened the door. his facial expression changed to a slightly dissapointed look when he saw who was at the door... he wore a simple black suit and his arms were crossed. he wore black sunglasses. he bowed slightly. "good evening." he said in a deep voice. "...i'm sorry to inform you of this... but your parents were in a rollover crash... i'm sorry... but they didn't survive..." the man took off his glasses to reveal beady black eyes. Neoph just stood there in a mixture of shock and disbelief. "w-what?" Neoph said as he started shaking. he curled up in a ball and began crying. "i am very sorry Mr. Rampart... the paramedics tried to revive them... but no luck... they died instantly..." the man held his hand out to help Neoph up. Neoph took his hand and stood up. "i-i'm sorry..." he wiped away his tears. the man shook his head. "don't be... my name is Officer Hawkwing. it's a pleasure to meet you... but not under these circumstances..." Neoph nodded. "i know... pleasure meeting you too." he held his hand out for a handshake. Hawkwing accepted it. after he shook Neoph's hand, he put his glasses back on. "would you like to sit down?" he asked. Neoph nodded. "sure..." he walked over to a nearby sofa and sat down. Hawkwing sat beside him. "Mr. Rampart... we have to put you in an orphanage." Neoph's eyes widened from shock. "w-wha?" Hawkwing sighed. "i know... but you're a minor... you can't live alone..." Neoph grabbed a vase off a table next to the sofa and threw it against the wall. Hawkwing didn't flinch. "please Mr. Rampart... calm dow-" Neoph interuppted him "CALM DOWN!? CALM DOWN!? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN!? MY PARENTS HAVE JUST DIED AND YOU'RE SENDING ME TO AN ORPHANEGE.... AND YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN!?" Hawkwing sighed. "i am very sorry..." he said. "SHUT UP!!! QUIT APOLOGISING!!!" he ran to his room and shut the door. he layed on his bed crying. Neoph picked up the phone he kept in his room. he dialed the number of the one person he knew could at least try to make him feel a little better... Veronica. Neoph wiped away his tears. the phone rang a few times before Neoph heard Veronica's voice. "hello?" she said. "um hi..." Neoph said as he tried to stop crying. Veronica sensed something was wrong. "Neoph? are you okay?" she asked, her voice full of worry. Neoph managed to get his crying under control. "not really... my mom and dad just died." Veronica gasped. "really!? what happened? no... forget i said that..." Neoph chuckled a little. "it's okay... they were in a car accident..." Neoph looked down. Veronica was silent for a moment. "hang on. i'm coming over." before Neoph even had the chance to protest, Veronica hung up. a few minutes passed. the doorbell rang. Hawkwing stood up from his seat and answered the door. Veronica looked up at him, slightly afraid. "is... Neoph home...?" she asked nervously. Hawkwing nodded and stepped aside to let her in. she went to Neoph's room and knocked on the door. "Neoph?" she said. Neoph opened the door for her. once she got inside, Neoph shut and locked the door. Veronica immediatly hugged him. "i'm so sorry about your parents... i know you were excited about them coming home..." Neoph hugged back. "it's okay... it's not like you killed them..." he broke the hug and sat on his bed. Veronica sat next to him. "Veronica... they want to send me to an orphanage..." Neoph looked at her sadly. Veronica went wide eyed. "no! you can't let them do that! they can't take you away from your friends!" Neoph sighed. "sadly... they can... i don't have a legal guardian..." Veronica looked down. she then looked up and smiled at him. "i'll come visit you then." Neoph shook his head. "orphanages don't allow visitors..." Veronica put a hand on his shoulder. "i'll sneak in then." Neoph looked at her. "you'd do that?" Veronica nodded. "of course. you're my best friend." Neoph hugged her. "thanks." Veronica hugged back. "really. it's no problem." Veronica said as she broke the hug. Hawkwing knocked on the door. "Mr. Rampart... time to go." Neoph sighed. "promise you'll visit tonight...?" Veronica nodded. Neoph stood up. he opened the door and walked away with Hawkwing. once they reached the front door, Neoph looked back to see Veronica. he gave a sad wave as he walked out the door. they went to Hawkwing's car. it was plain and simple black. Hawkwing opened the door to the backseat for Neoph. he got inside and Hawkwing closed the door. he got in the drivers side. he put the keys in the ignition. there was a 'vroom' sound as the engine roared to life and the car went forward. Neoph stared out the window as they passed buildings and people. it seemed like they had been driving for days... Neoph looked at the clock on the car... they had been driving for three hours and it was already dark outside. the car screetched to a stop at a large and boring gray building. Hawkwing turned off the car and opened his door. he walked over to Neoph's side. he opened Neoph's door. "...we're here..." he said as he started walking to the building. Neoph shut the car door as he followed Hawkwing. he stopped as Hawkwing entered the building. he hesitated for a moment... and ran. he could hear alarms going off and the voices of men. he ran faster. Neoph turned and entered an alleyway. a voice spoke to him. "hey! what're you doing here!?" a boy that looked to be about Neoph's age stepped out of the shadows. "ah!" Neoph cried in surprise as he jumped back. the boy shushed him. "they'll hear you. keep your voice down." he whispered. Neoph nodded. "sorry..." he whispered back. the boy held his hand out. "i'm Rei. nice to meet you. i see you're an orphanage runaway too huh?" Neoph raised an eyebrow as he shook his hand. "huh?" Neoph asked. Rei chuckled. "you slow or somethin? you ran away from that horrible orphanage didn't you?" Rei asked. "um... yeah." Neoph said. Rei smiled. "well... if you're gonna survive... you'll need this." he handed Neoph a small pocketknife. "thanks." Neoph looked down for a moment to put the knife in his pocket. when he looked back up, a black creature with yellow eyes stared back at him. Rei was gone. Neoph fell backwards, surprised at this creature. he crawled backwards. "what're... what're... what're you...?" he stood up as he backed away in fear. he ran forward, passed the creature. more of them appeared. they tackled Neoph. "s-stop! get off me!!!" he slowly felt his life slip away... Chapter One: I Am Nobody Neoph opened his eyes. the creatures were gone. he stood up and sighed with relief. Neoph started walking. he exited the alleyway and started walking down the street. he stopped when he caught a glimpse of his reflection in a store window. his jet black hair was now silver. that wasn't all... some of his facial features have also changed. his jawline was now more defined and his eye color changed from brown to blue. "what the? how did i...?" he stepped back from the store window. "what happened to me...?" he asked himself as he felt his hair and face. "why do i look so different...?" a deep voice could be heard. "you are a Nobody." a man with silver hair wearing a black cloak appeared. Neoph was slightly startled by the man. "a.... Nobody?" he tilted his head. "yes. a special being with no heart." the man said. Neoph couldn't believe what he was hearing... but something told him it was true. "come with me..." the man opened a corridor of darkness. Neoph stared at the darkness before him and stepped inside. the man smirked and followed him. they appeared in a large white room, thrones were built into the wall. Neoph looked around in awe. "my name is Xemnas." the man said. "your Superior." Xemnas said. "my Superior? what does that mean?" Neoph asked. "this is Organization XIII, an organization of Nobodies like you and me. i am the leader." Xemnas explained. "so... i'm joining this organization?" Neoph asked. Xemnas nodded. "correct." Neoph nodded. "very well then." Xemnas chuckled. "good... very good... but first you will need a Nobody name fitting for an Organization member... 'Neoph' won't work so well..." he tapped his chin as he tried to think of a name. "ah! i know... Phenox... from now on, you shall be known as Phenox..." Xemnas said. Phenox nodded. "yes... Superior." Phenox bowed. Xemnas tossed Phenox a cloak just like his. Phenox slipped it on and zipped it up. "this cloak will protect you while you are traveling through corridors of darkness..." Xemnas said. Phenox nodded, showing he understood. "thank you..." Xemnas nodded as Xigbar appeared. "hey. Xe-" he stopped speaking when he saw Phenox. "another one?" he scratched his head. Xemnas chuckled. "i'll give you two some time to get to know each other." he warped away. Xigbar frowned and knelt down to Phenox's level. "i'm not sure what Xemnas sees in you... but i can't go against him... watch your back..." Xigbar turned around to walk away when Phenox spoke. "...and what if i don't...?" he frowned. Xigbar laughed. "you don't wanna find out." Phenox growled. "is that a threat?" Xigbar chuckled. "you could say so...." Phenox drew his Volcanic Devestator sword and pointed it at Xigbar. "try me..." Xigbar summoned his guns. "very well then!" he laughed. Phenox charged at Xigbar. Chapter Two: The Knight and the Freeshooter Xigbar vanished and reappeared behind Phenox. "too slow kid!" he fired 3 times at Phenox. Phenox blocked all but one that hit him in the shoulder. he winced and charged at Xigbar agin. "ya just don't give up do ya?" Xigbar said as he smirked evily. Phenox ignored him and slashed at Xigbar's stomach. Xigbar was hit. he flew back into a wall. Xigbar stood up and shook his head. "that's it! the gloves are off!" Phenox readied himself for Xigbar's attack. Xigbar vanished and reappeared randomly. Phenox tried to keep his eyes on Xigbar, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. Xigbar then appeared behind Phenox. "gotcha!" he shouted. "huh?" Phenox turned around as he was slammed with energy crystals from Xigbar's gun. he fell backwards. Xigbar reloaded. Phenox stood up and charged again. "that stubborness willl be the death of you!" Xigbar called out as he aimed his gun at Phenox. "goodbye!" Xigbar fired again. Phenox was nearly hit when he roared and the crystals were deflected. "wha?" Xigbar said in surprise. Phenox now had sharp teeth and claws. "GRAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!" Phenox roared as his blade vanished and he stood on all fours. a black aura surronded Phenox. "what ARE you!?" Xigbar shouted in fear. Phenox growled as he glared at Xigbar. "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!" Phenox charged at Xigbar. "get away!" Xigbar fired at Phenox over and over. Phenox dodged and jumped up to slash Xigbar's face. Xigbar jumped back and avoided the attack. he shot again. Phenox dodged it. Xigbar aimed and fired 10 times. Phenox was hit. he fell to the ground. Xigbar reloaded and aimed at Phenox's head. "bye bye..." he fired at Phenox's head. Xemnas appeared in front of Phenox and blocked. "what are you two doing?" Xemnas tapped his foot. "uh... nothing... sir... we were just..." Xigbar struggled to find the words. "i see... carry on then..." Xemnas warped away. Xigbar smirked as he aimed at Phenox's head again. "now... where were we?" he fired. Chapter Five: A Little Help Phenox closed his eyes as waited for the energy crystal to hit him. after about 8 seconds, he opened his eyes to see a cloaked man in front of him. the man weilded a silver dagger. "wutcha doin Xiggy?" the man asked as he pulled down his hood. he gave Xigbar a friendly smile. "outta the way Xeol!" Xigbar growled. *aw.... that's no fun.* Xeol chuckled. Xigbar aimed his gun at Xeol. "i said... GET OUTTA THE WAY!!!" he fired Xeol laughed and deflected it with his dagger. "gotta do better than that!" Xeol smiled. "shut up!" he fired multiple times. Xeol deflected every one. "you're getting kinda rusty Xiggy." Xeol chuckled. Phenox stood up. he stared at Xeol. "shut up Xeol! just shut up!" Xigbar fired again. Xeol deflected it once more. "my turn?" Xeol smirked as he ran at Xigbar and kicked him in the stomach. Xibgar fell over. he quickly recovered. "mind giving me a hand here newbie?" Xeol asked as he turned to Phenox and flashed a quick smile. "uh... sure." Phenox picked up his blade and rushed to Xeol's side. "two against one? come now... that's not fair..." Xeol chuckled. "life's not fair!" he kicked Xigbar in the stomach and slashed him with his dagger. Phenox grabbed Xigbar's arm and threw him into a wall. Xigbar stood up and growled. he fired at the two. Xeol and Phenox rolled out of the way. Xeol threw his dagger and it stuck in Xigbar's leg. Xeol quickly conjured up another one out of fog. Xigbar winced an pulled the dagger out of his leg. it materialized into fog. "your both gonna pay!" Xigbar fired again at the two. Xeol deflected the crystals coming his way. Phenox deflected all but one that hit him in the shoulder. "you okay newbie?" Xeol asked. "uh huh..." Phenox nodded. can't win... gotta get outta here... Xigbar thought. "this isn't over..." he warped away.
