No, it's standard definition widescreen. Most, if not all, of the footage that we are using is widescreen. This also includes HD footage so it makes it easier for people to just scale it down to a resolution that's already the same aspect ratio. Kingdom Hearts is also widescreen. At least the highest quality footage that we have up for download on KHV is.

Okay, I need..advice. What file would be best to covert this movie into? It's currently in MP4 and..WMV kills the quality and makes me very sad. It seems I can't convert it myself, it takes up..too much memory and makes my internet spazz out. I fail.

Another point to take note of is the codec. What codec should we use. My optimal settings are H.264 with .mov file format. Let us know thanks. Also can we start the edits once we have our song chosen.

I personally prefer .avi compressed with a lossless codec so the converted video will look the same as the original. I even made a guide on how to convert files such as .mp4 and .mkv right here. The only downside is that the converted video will take up a lot of space. If you have a lot of HD space then it shouldn't be a problem but if you do, I provided an alternate method to lossless in the guide as well. It'll still be in the GBs range but much less than lossless.

XviD and H.264 are preferred although honestly any codec can be used for your compression as long as the resulting file is below 100 MBs and the quality is good. What defines good quality? Lack of blockiness and no interlacing for example. And yes, you can start as soon as you have your song chosen. Just tell us what you'll be using and we'll add it to the list.

Yes, as noted in the FAQ, we'd like 29.97 FPS.

Sorry to be such a bother. Thank you, I'll be taking a look at this and we hopefully be converting tonight. Thanks again.

I've got 44 seconds of my video done, but with that optional added time, it'll be 57 seconds. If it doesn't work out, I can always put it back to around 45 or 46 seconds

Ok so I've decided that my part is gonna be Kingdom hearts 1 and song is Wonderful Life by Alter Bridge. I decided not to go with Crisis Core since I couldn't find english cutscenes for it. Though i did find japans cutscenes but that is not what i wanted. Cheers.

How's this. Any comments as to how it can be improved, or should it just stay as is. Let me know thanks.

Hey, guys. I know it's super cheeky for me to ask but..I can't convert my files without it..brutally killing the quality. Would someone be willing to help? I know it's a lot to ask and I understand if nobody wants too.

@TitanTX - Did you use coloring? If so, don't. It makes the clips look..so dark and LQ.

Thanks for the feedback will fix it up, in a jiffy. If you need help converting it to a certain format i'd be more than happy to assist. What format do you need it to be in. I'll see what i can do. As of now signing out.

I got the cutscenes of off the site. So the quality may not be as great. And i fixed up the coloring so it should be fine now.

Present, using E.T. by Katy Perry.

I have question on the framerate: How, using Vegas Movie Studio, would I fix the framerate to the desired 29.97?

Go to File > Properties and there you'll find a dropdown menu for the framerate. Select 29.970 (NTSC) and there you go.

@TitanTX: I'll get back to you later with some critique.

I've got the first few seconds of my part done, but i'd rather have a date set to when we have to get the part in so i know what pace to work at.

I'm trying to get my video into the 29.97 formant you want, but there are a couple options that have it and I don't know which one I should use. The options are HD 1080i 29.97 fps, HD 1080p 29.97 fps, HD 720p 29.97 fps, HDV 1440x1080i 29.97 fps, HDV 1440x1080p 29.97 fps, NTSC 29.97 fps, QVGA 29.97 fps, and QVGA widescreen 29.97 fps. Which one am I supposedto use? and what's the difference between them anyway? Other than that mine's finished. btw, does anyone know where I can see last years mep? I'm curious to see it.

I doubt you'll be able to do it, gabr. I don't know, though. If you're willing to try then by all means, do so. It accepts WMV, AVI etc.

If you're using Sony Vegas, you can customize the render manually. I don't know what you're editing with though.

Last year's MEP is right here.

Second test of the video, without the black bars and a bit of changed scenes from the first. Also added in a voice over.

well that mep was cool. I'm not in anything so grand as Sony Vegas. I'm using a free Ubuntu program called Openshot. It's not Vegas, but it's quite good. Very good considering the price!-
