Waiting for 204 Windows updates to install on your computer before you can do anything else. And I still need to put Microsoft Security Essentials on there. Wonder if I'll be able to enjoy SWTOR on my new computer today
Well, can't say I have TB's of files, considering that my laptop is about 700GB of hard drive and I've only used a max of 300 of it so far, but considering the size of my flash drives and all the blank cds, or should I say dvds, it would take a lifetime. I'm just going to wait for my parents to get home and figure out what's up with the one wifi network both computers are on aren't connecting in the home group
FYI you can hook up your laptop's hard drive to your new computer's motherboard/PSU and transfer the files that way. That's the fastest method. I wish I had the money to build a desktop ;c Gotta save tho, moving out is more important
hey this happened to me the other day the difference is my computer is three and a half years old ;___;
I don't turn my computer off all too often; when I go to bed I usually just put it to sleep, so it was probably installing a bunch of long overdue updates lol.
My 207 updates beats your 138 I would try that, but I have no idea how exactly. I can wait for the time being
It's really easy. Did you build your new computer? It's the same as hooking up a regular hard drive, just run a spare SATA cable if you have one and give it power.
I bought the computer parts, but a co-worker put it together. I just watched him wondering how the heck he knew what he was doing. But seriously, i can wait for my dad, since he'll also know what you're talking about
It's literally as hard as putting lego blocks together. The 'art' of building computers has come a long way, and at least right now, building a computer is pretty simple.
simple is relative, even with that simile. I work with kids that can't put legos together sometimes. But I was watching him put the computer together and I would not have known where to put any of that stuff in the case
My point was (especially since you have the mental capacity to carry out a conversation) I believe that you are capable of doing so. All it takes is watching one video tutorial on youtube and the rest is just putting stuff together (which is shown to you on said youtube tutorial). I mean if i can do it with memory loss and brain damage, I am sure that you can. Allow me to clarify one thing though, this isn't me putting you down because you chose not do build it yourself in this particular case. It is just me reassuring you that you are capable of doing it. I see a lot of people talk about how they aren't capable of learning how to do 'this' or 'that' when it is mostly their fear or lack of self confidence that is keeping them from doing it. Was my first computer build 100% smooth sailing? No, but I backtracked a bit and realized I rushed a bit over one part and plugged something into the appropriate port (yay my inability at that time to attach that cable that makes the power button work). Needless to say the experience was really rewarding afterwards.
Never said I couldn't do it, I just had a friend who volunteered to put it together for me, and I accepted. I bought all the parts and he put it together, there's really nothing wrong with that. Besides, it was faster to let him do it anyways than me watching a video and then doing it. At least he knew what to do right away
Learning the ins and outs of what everything is and where everything goes really can't hurt though. I've put together enough builds for friends to be able to do most stuff from memory now, and I'm glad that I'm able to do that, because when I put my build together when I get the money, I probably won't run in to any trouble. Also if you ever wanna, for example, put in another HDD or upgrade your GPU, you'll be able to do it yourself. I'd recommend doing some research if you ever have some time to kill. Newegg's "how to build a PC" series is a pretty good watch.
Actually, i asked enough questions and he explained what was what that if I really did need to put in anything else I'd know where and what to do
