No matter what religion you have or heritage you are, I can assume that we all celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa and etc. Sorry I don’t know all the other holidays during December. Anyway, during the month of December till the start of January, what’s everyone tradition during the time of the holidays? For an example, my family and I usually spend all night during Christmas Eve to hang out and just pretty much chill. We usually sit in front of the fire place and just chill out with either Christmas music or movies. For Christmas Eve my sister and my mom are the ones that cook for the ten of us that are at chilling at my sister’s house. Usually we’ll have a nice Italian dinner with a bowl of “Easter” soup. Doesn’t get weird then that, right? The day after Christmas day we usually take the train down (90 minute ride) to New York City for the Christmas show and the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. This year already seems different as I’ve moved to Florida, so I’ll be flying back to New York. So, what’s the usual holiday tradition with your families?
My family used to do something similar to yours Mike, just hang out together around the house and spend time with each other. But in more recent years my parents have suddenly decided to be "unconventional" and spend Christmas time away on holidays ~ the last few years I have spent it in Florida. It's weird not being with the majority of my family, and it not being cold, but I think I like the difference.
My family is split during Christmas :[ One year we're with our mom- the next we're withour dad :[ it gets depressing after a while
Don't celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa or Hanukkah but I just wish it snowed and hopefully do some family time with the fam during Christmas and go out and have fun; even though we don't celebrate it we still do because it's fun
We used to get together with my mom's family on Thanksgiving, and my dad's family on Christmas, but we had a falling out with both sides, so we have stayed home the last two years. Its sad, cuz I don't get to see my baby cousin.
I wake up on December 25 and there's a shitload of presents under a huge-ass conifer covered with fragile balls and lights. Yeah.
I think I know what you mean by 'Easter' soup. Anyways, for Christmas, we usually catch up and have a huge BBQ party thing with my Greek, Italian and Serb cousins outside on the front lawn, and we cook 2 lambs on the spit while dancing and that, and this goes on till like, 3 am, then later on at around 12pm, we go to my grandma's house where she cooks Italian food for me and a few cousins and uncles/aunties.
